Oh, c’mon! Marriage instead of shacking up is so last century. /s

I am so disgusted with how widespread this practice is now, even among some who call themselves conservatives.

“She thinks the supercharger (kompressor) badge is the model of the car?”

Cut her some slack - she’s writing while blond, and she is a real, live, degree holdin’ presstitute.

Yes, exactly. And I live in an urban area, there are A LOT of poor people all around me, always have been. I haven’t seen anyone using actual food stamps, or “coupons” in decades. And I have NEVER, in my life, seen anyone comment loudly on what another person is purchasing in the supermarket.

It could be those beantown folks are just very rude, or it could be that this gal is full of baloney.

I actually worked in our food stamp office for a number of years. We had 2 parking lots, one for employees and one for ‘clients’. There were far more newer and more expensive cars in the ‘clients ‘ lot than in the employees’ parking lot.

A couple of months ago, I was in line at Walmart behind a woman with a LOT of WIC coupons. Not the card, coupons. She wasn’t careful and had chosen some things that weren’t the right items. Wrong cheese, etc. I know these things list the allowed item in detail but she didn’t bother/too dumb to read, something. She was black, and the cashier and CSM were all black, and they decided to amble slowwwwwly back to the back of the store and shop for her. I objected. Stupid little beotch said because I objected, she was going to make me wait. I asked for the mgr and she said it again in front of the black woman mgr. Thankfully that one didn’t practice racism and very gracefully got the woman to walk away, although she left a half buggy full of WIC food for them to put back.
She actually threatened to call the police on me. I laughed and said GO FOR IT.

Nothing worse than getting behind a food stamp recipient in the grocery store. They ALWAYS have something that doesn’t meet the criteria and have to go back and replace with the correct item. While the rest of us wait and wait. Oh and they are always fat and in no hurry.

I was in a Wal-Mart in Houston a few months back, and I was standing in line in a self-checkout lane behind a woman who was buying candy with her EBT card. Somehow, the register had added sales tax to her purchase. Acutely aware of the fact that food stamp purchases are exempt from state sales taxes, she walked off to find a cashier to remove the tax. When she returned, I asked her why she cared since I was the one paying for her candy.

Are all food purchases exempt from sales tax or only EBT ones?

It’s a 11 year old base model C230 ,, basically a $5,000 car that is economical to drive (26 mpg and cheap insurance) ,, you’d be hard pressed to find better transportation on a budget... especially if you already had that...

Can I say that anyone who uses “bourgeois” when they communicate is someone I would probably dislike in real life?

Yeah, I thought everyone use those debit cards now, guess not?

The part about the woman chastising her for ‘buying’ root beer definitely sounds like BS.

A few observations:

1) Note that she's white, the media picked her on purpose
2) College grad in journalism
(so all that $$$ was wasted, try nursing or a medical field instead for a $$$$ career)
3) Stopped working to have kids after getting married, had twins
4) Bought a house at the peak of the market before it crashed
( many did this and the house can be sold and the bank just gets whatever it gets for it, and renting is much cheaper than keeping that house, and convenient too. So they are throwing $$$ away on that house )
5) Husband lost his job
6) Signs up for welfare.

I see that here, young people getting degrees in crap they find interesting then staying with their parents.

And the welfare office wants to know why she has a house.

Reading further I see they did sell the house and hubby got a job.

So the lesson here is that Dems poverty programs are safety nets for all of us white college grad middle class successful Americans, not just those millions of poor illegals coming across the border ‘looking for a better life’.

A couple of problems with this story.

One, she moved "back home" from San Diego, but apparently, there was no one at "home" (parents, siblings, etc.) to help her out when she was struggling.

Two, she and her boyfriend/husband/sperm donor bought a $240,000 house with an "exorbitant" mortgage. I bought a house in late 2007, and refinanced it in 2009. I recall mortgages were at historic lows through much of that time period. So a $240K house even without a down payment and paying PMI would not be "exorbitant", especially for the northeast. That is, unless they did something stupid like a greater than 100% loan to value.

Then she went back to grad school? Talk about Einstein's definition of insanity.
