Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) literally got lost on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, The Hill reports. Cochran accidentally, while speaking with The Hills Cameron Joseph, went to the Senate Democrats luncheon instead of the Senate Republicans luncheon.
Cochran, while talking with The Hill, made a few wrong turns before accidentally ending up at Senate Democrats' luncheon, Joseph wrote on Tuesday evening. After exiting a Senate elevator on the wrong floor, Cochran and The Hill reboarded. He then found the right floor but turned away from the Senate GOP luncheon, a few yards from the elevator, to stroll in the opposite direction, arriving at the Democrats' weekly gathering a few hallways away.
At that point, Cochran stopped to talk to Democrat Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansaswho is facing his own re-election battle against Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR). Pryor chatted with Cochran for a few minutes and congratulated the senior Mississippi senator on beating conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel in the recent GOP primary runoff.
Cochran didn't seem to realize he was in the wrong place, until someone in the room asked him if he was planning to join the Democrats for lunch, Joseph wrote.
His father and I were elected to Congress and then to the Senate, Cochran told The Hill about Pryor.
The Mississippi Republican then paused for a second, fumbling to read some papers he was holding, Joseph wrote about what happened next.
OK, so I've got to find out where
Cochran then said, prompting The Hill to ask if he was trying to find the room for the Senate GOP luncheon. That luncheon has been held every Tuesday in the same room in the U.S. Capitol for years, Joseph noted.

He probably wanted to retire until Haley Barbour convinced
Thad to stay on. I guess Thad had to take one for his beloved establishment friends. He should retire for his own mental disability.
just found his true compatriots
Jeez, next thing you know he’ll be walking into the Democrat caucus instead of....what? Wait....
Looking for his lost farm animal.
Ouch, this is getting painful to watch/hear...kinda feel sorry for the old coot! Not!!!! he could’ve bowed out gracefully but is now a laughingstock.
Lots of Establishment Republicans just drift over the the Dim side of the isle....
Prob’ly looking for some farm animals ....
This is the most pathetic rendition of “Weekend with Bernie” I’ve ever seen.
He’s being propped up because his K Street cronies can’t stand the thought of losing the value of marketing his influence.
Does it "moo" or "bleat"?
It’s a good thing he didn’t think he was in the rest room...
After his farm animal admissions, clueless interviews, and senile moments....does he really have any influence to market?
To say thank you?
This is just more evidence the man should have hung it up. He obviously as memory issues do to aging and probably senility. Like was said he is now just a puppet for Barbour. What a shame.
>> >> Hes being propped up because his K Street cronies
I agree with you. He is just a shell/ checks the box in as they ask of him to do. No changes for K Street.
How romantic — holding hands across the aisle.
There’s WAY too much vitriol on this subject. I supported McDaniel financially, and think the runoff vote was a travesty.
BUT — I don’t think that was Cochran’s doing; rather, it was the machinations of the party elites, including Haley Barbour and Cochran’s advisers.
For the man himself: I have personal experience with caregiving for Alzheimer’s, and feel sad that Cochran seems to be in the early stages of that or some other dementia. I truly wish him well, along with his loved ones. If I’m right in what I sense, they all face a rough road.
This isn’t about his persuasion.
This is about his ability to plug his earmarks into bills and bring home the bacon.
Who wants to bet he was caught looking for help with the voter lawsuit?
