Untamed Cruz refuses to play nice with GOP campaign arm
The Hill ^ | July 8, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

GOP hopes of corralling Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) during the 2014 primary season are officially dead. The defiant Republican’s brutal criticism of Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-Miss.) reelection campaign on Tuesday — and the involvement of a group he is technically a vice chairman of, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) — is just the latest example of the Tea Party hero refusing to play nice. That brazen approach has exacerbated already fragile relations with establishment Republicans, who believe the freshman senator is intentionally undercutting them for no reason other than furthering his own political career. Meanwhile, his conservative base is rejoicing that he’s refusing to be cowed.

“GOP strategist Ron Bonjean, a onetime leadership aide to former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.)”

This Ron Bonjean character is EXACTLY the kind of scum we need to run out of advisory roles in the GOP. Really, we need to start going after these people, digging up dirt on them.

Note they all talk about reaching out to blacks, but just remember they worked their asses off helping a pale establishmentarian defeat a black conservative in Oklahoma. The establishment are the filthy racists.

We can see that the NRSC vice chairman position they gave Cruz, was just a bribe. They had hoped it would pay off with him turning a blind eye to all the GOPe corruption going on around the country. Since he won’t play by their rules, now they have to sic the media on him.

“...the freshman senator (Cruz) is intentionally undercutting them for no reason other than furthering his own political career.”

No. He’s undercutting you—the GOP establishment—because you are completely out of touch with your own base. Many voters no longer see any difference whatsoever between the GOPe and Democrats. Whether I agree with that or not (as a GOP voter) is irrelevant.

What matters is that many Republicans now see the Republican Party as a big part of the problem in DC. That is not a recipe for success, EVEN IF the GOPe actually opposes most of what the Democrats are doing. If they ARE the opposition (to Democrats), they sure don’t seem to show it. It’s at least a PR failure of epic proportions.

I don’t even see a great deal of moderation from the so-called GOPe moderates. They especially seem aligned with Democrats on many (most?) issues. Why do our moderates push the Democrat’s immigration deal against most Republican voters? Is that moderation? No. That’s acting like Democrats in all but party affiliation, and again, that’s why Senator Cruz is doing everything possible to undercut the GOPe.

The position they gave Cruz was “outreach” - powerless in other words.

He should resign after it helped round up Dem votes in MS

Ay Ay Yie!!

I would not let my ninth grade sweat hog students get away with this sloppy tea search, let alone allow this third rate propaganda piece based on untruths provable by the simplest google search

That, by the way, I’ve perfected in this situation from arguing the case with the virulent Ted Cruz detractors here, who are now squeaking-cricket-legs quiet all very suddenly

On March 11 he bowed out of his leadership position at the nrsc, handed him early on by the schmoozer/don himself, McC, a la Schumer ingratiating the silly Rubio at the amnesty palace with some kind of nobility position

He took a leave of abscence from the position

There are facts

Below is part of the Dallas M Ns account:

Even so, he won’t resign as vice chairman at the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Asked why, he said it’s because he still wants to see Republicans win in November – he just doesn’t agree with taking sides in contested primaries, even those involving incumbents.

THE PLAN--according to Mississippians is Thad wins, serves 2 years, retires. Gov. appts Haley Barbour, whose PAC is big behind Thad.

Brett Farr backed Thad for Haley because Haley pardoned his brother at the last of his gov. term.

Haley hurt his political rep by pardoning a bunch of felons during his last months as gov. One has already committed murder since the pardon, according to MS sources.

So an end run would make Barbour senator without the expense and bother of a candidacy.

Anyone else hear this rumor? It just sounds so plausible.

“I don’t know how you grow the vote among minorities if you don’t seek their vote,” he told The Hill. “If any Republican, particularly from the Deep South, can win reelection with the help of African-Americans, that is music to my ears. I hope to grow the vote among African-Americans in the general election. To say that’s a bad thing is really, I think, ill-advised.”

Having committed Democrats vote for you in a primary purely for the purpose of keeping your opponent out of the running is not a good thing. Its dirty pool and the chances of those voters coming back to vote for you in the general election is nil. So there is no growing the party with this tactic and suggesting there is is pure dissembling.

African-Americans did not help Cockran win reelection. They helped him win the primary. They are not the same thing.

It is ill advised for the National Party to support one state candidate and pay for advertising that publicly berates an opposing candidate. Such tactics brings honesty of the party in to question.

Apparently the establishment Republicans are all for growing the party if they can recruit Liberals to the party but not so keen on recruiting Conservatives.

From the defensive comments made by Senate Republicans in this article they know they have been caught playing dirty and they are more than a little worried about it.
