Publishing executives are reportedly 'on notice' for allegedly paying Hillary Clinton $14 million for her highly-anticipated memoir which sold just 161,000 copies in its first three weeks. Sources told the New York Post 'there’s lots of finger-pointing going on at (publisher) Simon & Schuster' over the expensive deal. Although the publisher sent one million copies of 'Hard Choices' to stores, a low 85,000 were sold in the first week before sales plummeted in the subsequent two weeks. The book hit stores on June 10.

But the point was to fund her campaign so what’s the problem?

This is the NY Post article referenced:

Apparently a million copies were shipped by the publisher on consignment.

Next stop: Bargain bin.

Perhaps Costco should carry the book...

Wow. Shipped a million books, but only sold 16% of them???

I know nothing about publishing but figure somebody somewhere missed their goals by a mile. Somebody somewhere had to greenlight giving Hillary All that money up front, and now looks foolish.

They just need to raise the price to about $100 per copy. Thennnnnn the wiseguys who failed to buy at the initial “teaser” price will feel left out and rush to buy before the next price bump. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

I think a lot of people who give money to the Clintons end up in this same kind of spot, but they must like getting hosed for their money.

Its like cattle futures. Special deals to fund special people. The rest of us buying S & S published books by other authors just pay the freight for this back-door gimme.

I have been faced with the hard choice of whether or not to buy that book.

The book publishing is completely incidental.

This is simply money laundering for naked political bribery.

I seem to remember a report about her pre-selling a million copies.

I wonder where they went.

Not to worry, they can invite Clinton to come and give them 20 or so free speeches, that ought to make up for the 15 million in red ink :-)

$14,000,000. for 161,000 hard copies. That is $99.38 per sold copy.

I am beginning to believe that she really is the smartest woman in the World.

To this day, Barack Obama earns $3.75 for every hardcover copy and $1.12 for every paperback he sells. As a sitting President, Obama is not allowed to release any for-profit endeavors, but when his second term ends in 2016, you can be sure every major publishing company in the world will be clamoring to release his official autobiography. George W. Bush received a $7 million advance for his memoir “Decision Points” and Bill Clinton received a record setting $15 million for “My Life”. Interestingly, despite receiving more than double the advance and having an arguably more salacious story to tell, Clinton actually sold fewer books than Bush.

Just consider it a $14 million campaign contribution from See Bee Ess Corp.

I think they knew it would never sell enough copies to recoup the millions they paid her. It was another way for rich east coast elites to give her money for her upcoming campaign.

Bingo!
Now Simon & Schuster have paid the entrance fee for the access needed for any “favor” needed when she is President.
If she doesn't run, they have paid for the lobbyist they need for access to next president. Probably money well spent.
