These must be the guns that got registered - they have no way of kinowing who has unregistered guns (without us knowing they know).

Recently, I’ve had several new clients that have moved here from NY state raising the average IQ level of both states dramatically. Many of them clearly state the draconian and repressive gun laws as one of the major reasons. Welcome!

As Emanuel Cellar and Thomas J Dodd said back in 1962,...

“We don’t want to take your guns away, we ONLY want to register them! Long guns will not be affected.”

Yeah, sure.

Of course. They aren’t taking guns from violent criminals. That was never the intention. The intention was always to take them from honest, law-abiding, non-violent citizens while deliberately leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.

This is what happens when people obeyed the GUN REGISTRY LAW. Just who the state government think they were fooling, when they suggested that “ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS TO “REGISTER” THE GUNS. THEY HAD NO THOUGHT OF CONFISCATING THEM” Yeah right. Brings me back to history. In the early 30’s the Weimar Republic convinced the German people to “REGISTER” all their weapons. The government swore that it will be kept in a “LOCKED BOX” and the people had no fear that some future government will take a “PEEK” into the “LOCKED BOX”. Two years later, HITLER CAME TO POWER. So, all you stupid people that continue to trust your government, ANY GOVERNMENT, for that matter, will be in for a very rude awakening.

That implies that the sheeple who stay in New York to pay the taxes are smarter than the escapees, and that the native population of the (presumably low tax, subtropical, 2A friendly) state that they move to is really dumb. Is that what OP really wants to say? (I might be missing something. I was just released from jury duty yesterday, and my brain still hurts.)

The SAFE act did elevate some misdemeanors to felonies.

I wonder if that’s what happened?

I wonder how many people registered their guns with a charge in their background that will get the gun confiscated?

A careful reading of the law is required if you intend to remain in NY and own guns.

Wait, aren’t you going to dutifully store All your firearms in one place for the express convenience of the gun grabbers?

They’ve got a lot of people to disarm, and they can’t do that IF you have some in a safe in your house and some in an underground lock box somewhere….

Well friends of mine have started to move their guns out of their house across the lake to safer parts. Unfortunately their boats capsized and all of them went to the bottom of a thousand foot deep lake.

C’mon, it’s not like the gun grabbers are consummate LIARS…. Oh wait .. they are!

They pulled the same thing in the UK and Australia.

Fact is, registration does Nothing to keep people safe, it is ONLY the first step towards total confiscation.

How the Nazis Used Gun Control The Weimar Republic’s well-intentioned gun registry became a tool for evil. The perennial gun-control debate in America did not begin here. The same arguments for and against were made in the 1920s in the chaos of Germany’s Weimar Republic, which opted for gun registration. Law-abiding persons complied with the law, but the Communists and Nazis committing acts of political violence did not. http://nationalreview.com/article/365103/how-nazis-used-gun-control-stephen-p-halbrook

Nazi Eyewitness Warns Americans: “Keep Your Guns & Buy More Guns” (Video)
Kitty Werthmann is a native Austrian who remembers well the Third Reich reign of terror in Europe. Kitty believes America is truly the greatest country in the world. She speaks often on socialism and how Adolf Hitler took power. This is from her 2009 essay:
The Final Steps – Gun Laws:

Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily…

As Emanuel Cellar and Thomas J Dodd said back in 1962,... “We don’t want to take your guns away, we ONLY want to register them! Long guns will not be affected.”

I think it was back in the '70s when there was some "Register All Guns" telethon going on and actor Robert Lansing (TV 12 O'Clock High) was overseeing the phone banks. One volunteer asked him a question about registration, and as the guy walked away, Lansing added, "Tell 'em we don't want to take their guns, just register them.". I nearly fell off the chair over the lunacy of that statement and I wish to God someone had asked him how they could "take their guns" if they didn't know who had them and where they were.

Here is what I remember from those days.

1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emauel Cellar proposed the first federal law on handguns.

1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.

1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”

1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)

1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! Large handguns and rifles will not be affected!”

1971: “According to the SCOTUS, Miller Decision, RIFLES are protected under the 2nd Amendment, handguns are not!”

1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”

1981: “The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA

1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”

1989: George Bush bans import of some foreign made “assault rifles”.

1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.

2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...

2012 calls for MORE bans on semi auto rifles and handguns.

And so it continues.

The SAFE act did elevate some misdemeanors to felonies.

Even so, if the misdemeanor was legally reconciled [that is punishment carried out] then a law to retroactively make it a felony is ex post facto law; such is prohibited to both the federal government and the several states by the Constitution for the United States.

For some reason, people keep repeating history. All this government grab for all our freedoms has been done before by many governments, but because of the people’s laziness, they refuse to read about history. There fore were are always cursed to repeat it, time and again, until, eventually, a group of people will be born that “FREEDOM” is injected in their genes. Until then, we will continue to repeat history again and again.

Not many know it enough and we seem to be destined to repeat it.

It should be plain from past experience in Great Britain and Australia that Registration has no other function than confiscation.

Sometimes you just want to scream at people – how can you be so stupid!!

They fall for the Registration won’t lead to confiscation lie so easily.
