GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Write-in candidate for Mesa County Sheriff Mike Harlow is being endorsed by the Tea Party. This announcement was made on Wednesday at the Old County Courthouse.

Harlow is a Navy Veteran with 17 years of Law Enforcement experience. He describes himself as an unaffiliated conservative candidate.

"The sheriff is supposed to be the highest-reigning law enforcement in the county. I’ll make sure that is known and we won't back up to anybody. If I think they don't have business here, then they'll have to lave," said Mike Harlow.

Harlow has experience working as a K-9 Police Dog Handler and has also written two books on it. He said one of the first things we would do if appointed as Mesa County Sheriff would be to expand the K-9 program.

Two other Sheriff candidates are not on the ballot, but are running as write-in candidates. They are Deputy Patrick Arotin and registered nurse Benita Phillips.

Meanwhile, the GOPe candidate, CO. State Senator Steve King, is currently under investigation for falsifying a time card while working part time for the Mesa County Sheriff's department. King was fired on June 6th, 2014, for "conduct issues", but news of his termination did not reach the public until days before the primary election.

Since his termination, it has been revealed through VetTheGov.com that King has a record of falsifying his time cards, and there are other pending allegations as well. An investigation was launched after Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger asked the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the corcumstances of King's termination and the allegations against him. CBI turned the investigation over to Arapahoe County DA as CBI is currently headed by former Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey, who has a long history with King and even endorsed his candidacy for Sheriff. King has stated he will remain in the race, despite the ongoing investigation and despite calls to step down by the Mesa County Patriots and Tea Party members.

Bump! This story has gone statewide and is rather fascinating. We need to pressure King to step down. Mike Harlow and Pat Arotin are both good guys for the job. The rest are flakes!

Who exactly claims to represent the TEA party?

Whether or not this guy is a good candidate, this is a fraudulent endorsement.

There's quite a few of us here in Mesa County and, believe me, it's a very legit endorsement.

The TEA party is purposely without a central leadership or organization. How can it provide an endorsement?

I suppose a particular TEA Party could endorse someone. The endorsement would be on behalf of it’s members.
