'I want it fixed immediately! Understand?': Furious John McCain slams Border Patrol chief ....

for seizing lawmakers' cell phones at illegal immigrant detention centers to stop them taking photos

A visibly angry Sen. John McCain grilled the head of America's border patrol on Wednesday over a policy that limits what members of Congress can do at detention facilities where the government is holding thousands of illegal immigrant children.

'I have never seen anything like your instructions, signed by your name. ... Are you telling me that [when] I visit a detention facility, that I can't bring a cell phone with me?' the Republican asked.

'Are you saying that? ... I am not allowed to take photographs?'

'I want it fixed immediately! Understand?' McCain boomed at Customs and Border Patrol Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske.

The policy, called an 'Interim Protocol for Visitation and Tours,' requires all visitors to turn over their phones and restricts contact with the detained children and staff members.

McCain ripped into Kerlikowske for applying the rules to him even though the Nogales, Arizona facility is in the state he represents.

'People from Arizona elected me, and I'm not supposed to even carry a cell phone with me?' he demanded. 'Mister, you have overstepped your responsibilities and your authority.'

'I want those instructions revoked, as far as members of Congress are concerned, and I want it done today.'...

Well John, I think you should go back and visit tomorrow and see if they “fixed” it immediately for you.

You don’t dare, because they will not and then you will have mud on your face.

I think they are running brothels there. Why else so secretive? What are they hiding?

How dare someone treat John McCain like a normal peon. Don't you know who he is?

Congress needs to understand that thanks to their decades of delegating their authority out to non elected agencies so that they will never have to do anything controversial is coming back to haunt them. They are no longer in charge. It is the bureaucrat class.

While I found him contemptable before I moved here, now having to read and hear about him and Flake all the time makes me ill.

Flake and McCain are what is wrong with the Republican Party. I can even tolerate some Senators that are probably less than true conservatives before these two. Shills and graspers after place.

Next thing you know he will be outraged that nurses at Walter Reed were furloughed while the White House gave $6 Billion to the Muslim Brotherhood. Oh wait............that didn't happen.

McCain suffered under the North Vietnamese. He really did suffer. You all have no idea.

But he has FAILED to hold Obama accountable, and that is his greatest sin.

Sylvia Burlow the HHS secretary enthusiastically assured the senators today that all the children had beds and were clean and well fed and the feds were successful in everything they did ..

they just needed to buy a few more thousand beds which would cost $200-1,000 each..

But Juan doesn’t seem bothered by the wide open border and engraved invitations from Obama that caused this mass invasions of illegals. And he promised us he’d “secure the border first” in 2008 and again in 2010 during his two most recent campaigns.

But not a word about securing the border first since.

People can say what they want; but the nation would be IMMENSELY better with McCain Palin running things; rather than current camper at the White House.

I'm not so sure. First, understand that Palin would be reduced to attending funerals. McCain is not the sort to delegate power to anybody.

Second, understand that a McCain presidency coupled to a Democrat majority Congress probably would've gotten the 'Rats everything they wanted. A GOP minority with a Republican president in league with the majority would've been totally useless as an opposition party.

Further, McCain is just temperamentally unsuited to the role of President. He's an authoritarian with a bad temper -- and generally worse judgment. What was the last war he urged we stay out of, for example?

He is also the author of McCain-Feingold -- about which he remarked, "Given a choice between free speech and good government, I'll take good government every time". "Good government" as defined by ...whom? And, of course, amnesty is his Holy Grail. The man has no more respect for the Constitution than Obama.

That said, I voted for him. But I felt dirty when I did so. 2008 was a choice between a disaster and a catastrophe.

What are they doing? Staring out the window and imagining themselves in their happy place?

This is war. And they should be acting like officers.

It is like we have to fight and win our senators back to our side.

To tell you the truth, I’ve been raging about how he pays more attention to the war in Iraq and not the invasion on our own border. Glad he finally got on the stick.

One thing about McCain, the media will put a mike under his chin, and we need him to voice our outrage.

We don’t want him to completely go to waste in our efforts.

Yes. John Lame is one of those odd Republicans who are always beating the drum for a ‘robust’ US US response to some foreign quarrel or another. He was one of the those noisily agitating for military action against Serbia throughout the long violent collapse of Yugoslavia. When Bill and Weasley had their Splendid Little War with Serbia over , of all places Kossovo, John Lame was positively beside himself with patriotic ardor and pressed for ground force involvement from almost day one. When the Russians stole a march on the US and showed up at the Pristina airfield before NATO got there he sounded like a Hearst newspaper after the Maine explosion demanding US airborne elements be sent post hast. Most recently he and that miserable Gramnesty made their famous visit to Syria and he came away finding a need for significant ‘US involvement’, naturally. John Lame’s POW experience seems to make him hanker after constant US military involvement in various dubious battles as some sort of psychological compensation. He is a strange fellow. Not as strange as BHO, but strange enough even by Washington's bent perspective.
