Obama Used A Mark Wahlberg Line From 'The Departed' To Scoff At Boehner's Lawsuit
Business Insider ^ | July 11 2014 | Brett LoGiurato

Hours before House Speaker John Boehner officially set the plans in motion to file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama, the president scoffed at the House's potential action — with a pop culture reference.

During a campaign-style speech in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, Obama compared himself to Mark Wahlberg's character in Martin Scorsese's film "The Departed." He blasted House Republicans for inaction and for what the White House later characterized as a "political stunt" — preparing to sue him for his prevalent use of executive actions.

"I mean, think about that. You’re going to use taxpayer money to sue me for doing my job — while you don’t do your job," Obama said to applause.

"There’s a great movie called 'The Departed' — a little violent for kids," he continued. "But there’s a scene in the movie where Mark Wahlberg — they’re on a stakeout and somehow the guy loses the guy that they’re tracking. And Wahlberg is all upset and yelling at the guy. And the guy looks up and he says, 'Well, who are you?' And Wahlberg says, 'I’m the guy doing my job. You must be the other guy.' Sometimes, I feel like saying to these guys, 'I’m the guy doing my job. You must be the other guy.'"

(Obama almost got the line right — Wahlberg's line was a little saltier in the movie.)

After hinting at the lawsuit for weeks, Boehner officially announced on Thursday the legal action would focus on Obama's unilateral action to delay implementation of the so-called employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act in 2013.

We agree, for once, Obama. the House has not done their job. They’ve let all your spending, regulations, taxes and government ineptitude slide without using the power of the purse to eliminate any of it. They’ve allowed YOUR executive branch to act as legislatures and create laws when they have no legal ability to do so. They’ve allowed laws passed by two houses and signed by presidents be ignored and reversed with no repercussions. We wish they would do their job.

Observing Obama’s performance in Austin last night on the local news I was struck by how much his presentation was like what passes for stand up comedians these days. I think Obama spends a lot of time, when not golfing or watching ESPN or keeping up with the Kardashians, watching the Comedy Channel.

Another brilliant Marky Mark lines.

When you stick you finger in your belly button and something brown comes out, doesn't make it your a$$hole.

So he used a line from an anti gun actor where 95% of his money is made from movies involving gun violence? That figures.

Is this shuck and jive stand up routine on his teleprompter? All that is missing is a drummer hitting rim shots.

What's up with his whiny, high pitched voice lately? Is this something new? Maybe a side effect from something he scored in Colorado?

I admit I don't listen to his speeches and can become nauseous and my bowels unsettled from overexposure to the sound of his voice, so I avoid him whenever possible and maybe he's always been like this or is this something new?

This guy has time to sit around and watch movies.

Boner’s lawsuit is stupid. If Obama is “making” illegal laws then Boner should simply advise everyone not to follow them. Let the government sue Hobby Lobby instead of the other way around.

Mark Levin addressed this lawsuit on last night’s program. He read parts of it and said what Boehner was filing is impeachment papers - not a lawsuit. He spelled out how stupid this is - and it IS! Boehner doesn’t have the guts to start impeachment, so he tries a lawsuit. What a gutless wonder we have as Speaker. Nazi Pelosi had more gonads than he ever will.

The proper venue for Boehner to sue the president is in the congress. He is Speaker. He can do that any time he wants. He is punting while pretending to do something.
