Gee whiz, another crooked NJ Mayor. Jersey City badly needs Bret Schundler back again.

It’s time to play another exciting game of NAME THAT PARTY!

Here is the question.... What is the political party of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop?

(Filler music)

(Buzzer)

Sorry, you’re out of time... yes, you’re correct that it does not say in the 600 word article, but that is how the game is played.

The answer is “DEMOCRATIC”

What is the political party or Republican Governor Chris Christy, who is a Republican?

(Chime)

Just sent an email to the author of this article tmcdonald@jjournal.com to remind him he obviously forgot to name the party of the good mayor.

Exactly. When a Republican Governor screws up, the word “Republican” is repeated a minimum of 5 times in every sentence.

When a Democrat Mayor screws up, the word “Democrat” never gets mentioned once, in the entire life-time of the story, whether it lasts days, weeks or months.

I grew up in Jersey City not far from the Holland Tunnel.

It has long been a bastion of Democratic politics, going back as far as the Hague administration.

My father was a Captian in the JCFD and was never able to secure a Deputy Chief's appointment because he didn't play the game, altho he was a lifelong Dem.

At least it was reported. Googled the NY Times, NY Daily News, even the NY Post for their take on the allegation ....

Well , the truth is the mayoral election is non partisan /s

Story is not written for anyone beyond the county. I am sure his party will be listed if it becomes a bigger story. /s

Upon graduating from college, Fulop joined Goldman Sachs, the investment banking firm, first working in Chicago and later in downtown Manhattan and Jersey City. After seeing first hand the effects of the September 11 attacks, he decided to put his career at Goldman Sachs on hold and join the United States Marine Corps.

Shortly after completion of Marine Corps boot camp, on January 14, 2003 his Reserve Unit was activated and Fulop was deployed to Iraq, where he served as part of the 6th Engineer Support Battalion for six months.

Fulop was supposed to be the proverbial "breath of fresh air", but if these accusations are even half-true, it sounds like he's as corrupt as any blue-state politician. Maybe it's something in the North Jersey water.

A Democrat; from the wiki-wacky:

> Steven Michael Fulop (born February 28, 1977) is the 49th and current Mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey. A Democrat, he was formerly the Councilman for Jersey City’s Ward E.[1] On May 14, 2013 he defeated then Mayor Jerramiah Healy, who was backed by the Hudson County political machine and also endorsed by President Obama.[2] NJ Biz and PolitickerNJ have subsequently ranked him as one of the most influential office holders in New Jersey.

Definitely, I want to see that too. Of course, the allegation could be fake, a way to hobble the new mayor who beat an incumbent political machine backed by Obama.

Terrence T. McDonald ‏@terrencemcd Three "why didn't you say Fulop is a Democrat?!" emails so far. One had a red exclamation point to denote its high importance. https://twitter.com/terrencemcd/status/488003974130577408
