The Political Left Is Deconstructing The Middle Class
American Thinker ^ | 7/12/2014 | Jack Curtis

A lasting legend from Russia’s Communist Revolution illustrates the attitude of the Progressive Left toward the middle class: the examination of rounded up citizens by the revolutionaries.  If a captive’s hands weren’t calloused, he was executed.  That doesn’t fit America; better to enlist the citizens in the deconstruction.  Though slower than the Russian approach, that hasn’t proven difficult; the left's programs are popular with voters.

America’s middle class is a historical anomaly, a result of combining British government and jurisprudence; classical liberalism; a disparate stream of immigrants and an entire new, unexploited; and a lightly governed continent where the prior occupants were no barrier.  Add to that an industrial revolution.  Though seldom discussed in public now, the resulting huge, educated, propertied, and politically powerful middle class is seen from the left as an obstacle, an impediment to the reshaping of American society desired by Progressives.  In short, it accumulates and retains too much of the political power, property, and wealth that Progressives prefer in the hands of government.

Progressives see property and control seated more appropriately in the collective, and not limited by Judeo-Christian "middle-class" values like private property and personal responsibility.  Such ideas are bedrock for the middle class but a bane for Progressives; Progressives approve of limits for individuals, but not for government.  However, Christian values have faded rapidly since the 1960s, reducing middle-class cohesion and thereby lubricating social and economic class dissolution.

Examination of Progressive programs shows middle-class reduction as a common if unstated theme under either political party.  The process, deliberate and continuous, intends to return America to the historical social structure…

In a feudal system the very poor side with the lord who can provide them with a dole. It is the independent merchants and freemen that threaten a monarchy.

The demonrats are simply trying to install a feudal system. They want you poor because they want you to need them

Obama has accelerated his destruction of America. He is behind schedule and time is growing short.

Watch for even more outrageous things to come shortly.

Also, the definition of "middle class" versus "working class" has been corrupted over time, where now "middle class" means "not low income".

Originally, the "middle class" were the doctors, lawyers, business owners, chief executives of corporations, etc. If you worked for a paycheck, for somebody who could fire you, then you were working class even if highly paid. If you were the owner of your own operation, then you were middle class. The upper class were the landed aristocracy.

I agree, and they also want us poor because then we cannot stop them from looting the treasury. Progressivism is nothing more than a fake collective ideology perpetrated on the populace to divert their attention away from the perpetrators real intentions. Which is steal everything.

If the demonrats need the poor in order to justify their existence, and if a people work and raise themselves from poverty, then that action would kill the need for the democrat party? Sounds like a plan, lemme just order fifty million cattle prods... ;]

Until a leader or generation comes along that hates socialism and Obama policy as much as Obama hates George Washington, we will continue to wallow and slide downward.

Don't forget disarmed as well.

Our first currency issued was inscribed "To counterfeit is death."

Perhaps it is time for those who lie, cheat and steal from the people to pay the ultimate price like counterfeiters once did. Until then, the dog/pony/shiny_squirrel show will carry on merrily unabated.

When we're all poor we'll be much easier to rule.

Finally someone tells the truth I have known for over 40 years. Women got suckered worst than any other people. They left homes thinking working outside would give them a fuller life, what it really did was destroy the family and give the pols another income stream to tax.

Look at the result from this move. Drive by shootings, drive by sperm donors and just in general worthless kids. Our future is dim if we have to depend on the kids of today raised by women. And we do. Good luck with that.

The Framers' antidote to tyranny was divided government.

Weakening the family strengthens the State; power is a zero-sum game.

Return the states to the senate, divide power once again, and watch tyranny recede.

The signs were there early this year as to what was coming.
The following is a small taste of what’s out there in grant records. This is just the tip of the iceberg, folks.

Between Dec 2010 and Nov 2013, the Catholic Charities Diocese of Galveston received $15,549,078 in federal grants from Health & Human Services for “Unaccompanied Alien Children Project” with a program description of “Refugee and Entry Assistance.”

Last year, the Catholic Charities Diocese of Fort Worth received $350,000 from Department of Homeland Security for “citizenship and education training” with a program description of “citizenship and immigration services.”

Between September 2010 and September 2013, the Catholic Charities of Dallas received $823,658 from the Department of Homeland Security for “Citizenship Education Training” for “refugee and entrant assistance.”

From Dec 2012 to January 2014, Baptist Child & Family Services received $62,111,126 in federal grants from Health & Human Services for “Unaccompanied Alien Children Program.”

Any questions?

H/T Terri Harris Hill for the tip and initial research.

Good article but it leaves out The Global Warming Hoax which is a very important tool in the destruction of the middle class. The goal of The Global Warming Hoax is to destroy the personal liberty of private cars and destroy the wide-spread purchase of suburban private homes.

The liberal masters want all of us (including even the unwashed liberal masses) to live in caves, eat turnips and ride in donkey carts.

Dead on the money, America is loaded with millions of people who THINK they are middle class but actually are not and never have been middle class. If money is all that counts then successful drug dealers are middle class or even upper class.

We all know what’s wrong. We even know what needs to be done to fix it. We’re just not doing it.

None of these problems are insurmountable or even particularly difficult.

Leading us to civil strife... Obama’s mentor, Ayers planned this too, his plans included the mass murder of Americans like us.

They still do, but first we need to be disarmed.

On another site I was talking to some 20-something Angry Young Progressives (AYP, we'll call them.) One was describing his ideal state and pointed to Denmark as being, not perfect, but the closest thing currently going. What he liked about it was the commitment to maintaining a very plush welfare system ... forever.

That's the goal. The goal of welfare is NOT to help people get on their feet and become independent. The goal of welfare is to BE THE WAY PEOPLE LIVE. ALWAYS. I gathered from talking to him and another AYP that the ultimate goal is for everyone to only work a few hours a day (4 or so) and then all the rest is well-funded free-time. But of course, the idea that a huge segment of the population might decline to work at all was either shrugged off or dismissed as not likely.

When I found articles showing that Danes are already losing their work incentive, he flatly refused to believe it, even though the Finance Minister of Denmark was the one giving press releases about it. These kids are really, really absorbed by the notion that any time they have to do something they don't enjoy, it is an offense to the Cosmos. Half of them seem to be living at home, still, and I'm betting Mom does their laundry for them. It's really something, talking to these spoiled little creeps.
