Putin is a Chekist.
Once a Chekist, always a Chekist.
Chekists like Putin have never been concerned with ideology. Ideological “left” communists are merely the KGB’s useful idiots. The job of the chekist secret police has always been to purge the ranks of the Communist party. Ideological communists often become the biggest opponents of Communist regimes when they realize what a lie Communism is.
Putin supports every Communist terrorist regime on the planet. Whether he himself believes in Communism is irrelevant. What matters is not what he says, but what he does, and what he does is promote Communist terror worldwide.
The USA should never cooperate with a genocidal mass-murderer like Putin. We should do everything we can to sabotage, frustrate and confront him at every possible moment.
The Russians have likely concluded that one way to keep the Americans from messing around in Russia's back yard is to keep them busy in their own.
America broke Russia with the arms race. Putin probably stopped in Nicaragua to tell them “Keep those kids heading north. America is totally in debt and this could finish them off.”
