Two North Carolina men are facing the death penalty in the murder of a young volunteer firefighter last December - but the victims wife says she has already forgiven them.
Jalend Turner, 19, and Khari McClelland, 23, have been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly gunning down 25-year-old Marcus Kauffman during a burglary at his Rowan County home in December 2013.
Kauffman, who served on the Scotch Irish Volunteer Fire Department, was shot in the head and died three weeks later from his injuries at Carolinas Medical Center.

I've read the Bible enough to know that if someone had killed one of King David's wives, David would have hunted them with a spear and impaled them to a wall. Then he would have written a Psalm about it. God would have blessed him the next spring with a bumper harvest. My point being-- these two losers should be fried. There's nothing wrong with getting angry about things- being passionate. People need to feel a little heat.
I forgive you. But only God can forgive sins. I’ll leave that up to him.
Very good answer!
Very good answer!
If I was the prosecutor, I’d tell the cops to do a bit more investigation based on those comments.
Just trying to share the wealth, man. You know, at some point, you have enough. Besides, you didn’t build this! It does take a village, right?
They chased him to kill him, over a burglary.
“Kauffman was able to dial 911 to report shots fired as he fled the house.
Officers who arrived on the scene a short time later discovered Kauffman with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in his car, which crashed in the woods near a cornfield. The rear window was shot out.”
R.I.P. Marcus Kauffman. Condolences to his family, his friends.
I’m quite sure that those two pieces of (purportedly human) garbage are going to be feeling a lot more than just a little heat.
Put the feral scum 6’ deep.
IOW, they chased down a fleeing man and killed him.
They couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snuff Whitey.
If the wife would rather forgive than carry the hate, she is right to do so, and the state is right to put the two subhuman mutts to death.
There is absolutely nothing Christian about this kind of forgiveness. Se can do it if she wishes, that’s her right. But nothing in Scripture supports it unless the two thugs truly repent and ask her for it.
Sticking by your guns I see.
Good for you.
“...unless the two thugs truly repent and ask her for it.”
Those two punk-ass n-words will axe forgiveness as the needles are being pushed into their arms. Not until.
Some folks have a problem understanding the plain language of the Bible. Forgiveness is only required if repentance is truly made and forgiveness sincerely asked for.
These thugs have done neither.
Ok. Don’t hate them. Just do your duty and make sure they meet justice.
I’m pretty sure I hate them
You seem to be reacting quite disgustedly against a Christian who is following both the precepts and the example of Jesus. I never considered Jesus barf-worthy.
That's why criminal charges are "State vs. _____".
Let the State send them to God.
I myself have every wish that these two scumbags ask and are given God's forgiveness. I hope they spend eternity in Heaven.
I'd also damn well hang them.
I’m saying our country is very weak and people are getting very lukewarm. Nobody pushes back. When Jesus comes back, he’s going to knock the Earth out of orbit and kill off about 3/4 of the planet (I know, I read ahead )
This is not true. Jesus forgave people even as they were torturing Him to death, with no indication in the Gospels that they had repented. And Stephen forgave them who were stoning him to death. Again, no indication that they had repented.
This does not mean "Everything's OK" and as Pope Benedict XVI said, "Forgiveness is not a substitute for justice." Even the repentant "thief" who was crucified next to Jesus, said he himself deserved the punishment for what he had done, and he got it. Jesus did not miraculously release this man from his cross, even though he DID repent.
What these two murderers did was deserving of hell. The fact that this good Christian woman forgave them, does not change that.
Exactly. it’s like Stockholm syndrome
I guess Jesus and Stephen had a problem understanding the plain language of the Bible?
The legal system does not judge a man’s immortal soul. God does that. We merely speed up the introduction at times...
There should not be confusion between forgiveness and clemency. Forgiveness is within the heart of someone who has been trespassed against; it is their way of liberating themselves from hatred against those who trespassed against them; as well as hoping that those who trespassed will themselves seek salvation.
Clemency should only be given to those who were denied fair justice and judgment. It does not come from the victim, nor should the victim be allowed to mitigate the punishment. For the reason that this trial, conviction and sentences were not done by the victims, but the state acting on their behalf.
While a person was murdered, this was an offense against the state. So it is the state that gives justice and judgment. And it is the state that decides if clemency is warranted.
Jesus was a special case as I’m sure you’ll agree. And St. Stephen was free to forgive them as was his right.
But the plain language of the Bible says otherwise. You can look it up for yourself. Absolutely nothing in Scripture requires this kind of blanket forgiveness. Nothing.
It’s not forbidden, but it certainly isn’t required.
yes last time I checked, Samson didn’t forgive the philistines. He beat them to death. I’m surprised David didn’t write a Psalm about that
“Jesus forgave people even as they were torturing Him to death”
Jesus said “Father forgive them...” he didn’t say “Father, I forgive them.”. A bit of a difference there. Wouldn’t you agree?
Yes, the idea they you must forgive everyone is ludicrous. You forgive those that repent and ask for forgiveness.
You are correct but “love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you” means that it is really up to the individual to decide what love to them means. Forgiveness can be just as much for the victim as the perps and it prevent the victim them from being overtaken by bitterness and anger. If while we were yet sinners Christ died for us then certainly she is following that example if she chooses forgiveness above hate. As for those two they better get on their knees because her forgiveness will not buy them the forgiveness they really need!
I watch a lot of ID TV and some of the victim’s families say that the Bible says to forgive the murderers and so they shouldn’t receive the death sentence. I don’t understand that; to me, you can forgive someone of a horrible crime but that doesn’t mean they don’t have to pay.
Please quit posting material from Daily Mail in the main forum. It’s mostly tabloid crap that belongs in chat.
I remember this case.
What this woman says makes a good example of why the state, representing all the people, prosecutes crime - not just the individuals affected.
I doubt Jesus has had to forgive this woman for shooting a man in the back.
And I most certainly agree that there can be NO forgiveness without repentance. The love of God isn’t some big “get out of jail free” card.
You noticed that, too ?
“Jesus said Father forgive them... he didnt say Father, I forgive them.. A bit of a difference there. Wouldnt you agree?”
Subtle, but crucial.
“I myself have every wish that these two scumbags ask and are given God’s forgiveness. I hope they spend eternity in Heaven. I’d also damn well hang them.”
Careful. Common sense is in short supply; we’d best economize it.
“You seem to be reacting quite disgustedly against a Christian who is following both the precepts and the example of Jesus. I never considered Jesus barf-worthy.”
There seems to be an assumption that if she forgives them, then she doesn’t want them punished. Not necessarily true.
Let’s hope the needles get pushed into their arms.
The Daily Mail is tabloid crap? I can’t post Infowars- you’re tying my hands. ha
It’s appropriate to forgive them, then execute them.
forgiveness is one thing, Making sure these folks never kill again is a responsibility.
Agree. Brave is not the adjective I’m thinking of for this woman.
Forgiveness, at the Human level, is often a cathartic for the person doing the forgiving. Better to forgive and get on with your life than allow the bile of hate to eat at your soul. King David aside - if she were to hunt them down and kill them, God may or may not bless her, but she would pay a worse legal penalty than them. Kind of funny how so many who have probably never actually done any serious retribution/vengeance are so quick to exhort others to it. They also use the Bible to justify non-Christian thoughts/actions.
Being able to forgive is her God given right, but that does NOT EXEMPT them from the criminal laws they broke.
Ashley ‘Nikki’ Read, 2 juries decided that the Death Penalty was the correct punishment for the RAPE and MURDER of this 8 year old.. ALL APPEALS have run out. Justice delayed is Justice DENIED!

This is 20 years of appeals. 24 YRS SINCE THE CRIME. TOOK ONLY THE DNA TO PROVE WHO DID IT, #1 SUSPECT. DNA & confession proved he raped, strangled to death with her OWN SHOE LACES 8 year old Ashley ‘Nicki’ Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child. Nikki had water in her lungs, which means she was till somewhat alive when he threw her battered body in the river.
remember the priest who ran a spear into the couple as Moses watched? A man was bringing a foreign woman into his tent and the priest ran them through and God said he was the only person who did rightly. Interesting story. At His trial, Jesus was beaten on the cheek and He didn’t turn the other one so obviously it is figurative I can go on and on
