The White House is asking Rep. Darrell Issa to withdraw a subpoena of a senior adviser to President Barack Obama and is offering instead to a hold a private briefing on activities in the administrations political affairs office. In a letter sent Monday, White House Counsel W. Neil Eggleston offered to brief Issa, a California Republican who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on the role of the the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach on Tuesday. Thats one day before the offices director, David Simas, is under subpoena to testify on potential violations of the Hatch Act.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Pound sand, BO.
Do I detect that the unclothed emperor is beginning to squirm a little?
They just want to keep it private, see? Nothing to worry about...
Not to worry, in the spirit of “bi-partisanship” Mr. Issa will work out a deal so the cretins do not have to testify under oath and the subpoena goes away.
Keep up the pressure, Israel.
Keep up the pressure, Mr. Issa.
Issa better stand firm. The need to be under oath to somewhat protect the process from the lies they are going to tell.
And if he doesn’t back off, is the former aide going to have a sudden fatal car wreck, an private plane crash into the ocean or a fatal anaphylactic reaction to a “bee sting”? I guess we’ll find out soon enough...
The subpoena was drafted and submitted for a reason, no way should it be dropped or ignored.
How about both? Suspend the subpoena, but re-issue it if the meeting doesn’t produce results.
Issa is not going to do much with the one scandal that could destroy the power of government ....he’s a politician, not a patriot ...he’ll just blather on and nothing will come of anything he has done or will do
Private meeting? Why? So you can threaten Issa?
Uh oh, they want to serve him some of that ‘special Kool Aid’ although I think Issa might have already drank it.
“And if he doesnt back off, is the former aide going to have a sudden fatal car wreck, an private plane crash into the ocean or a fatal anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting? I guess well find out soon enough...”
Well, even if we didn’t get the testimony, we’d have one less Commie Termite working in our government. I’d take that deal!
The word is TRANS-PAR-EN-CY . Private meetings are not conducive to it.
“My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government” BHO
I just ask that the GOP replace Issa with someone who knows what they are doing.
I think the White House blinked.
Your way is OK with me too.
But, these subpoenas haven’t produced much except theater. I’m amazed at how boldly and successfully the WH and the IRS (think Fast ‘n’ Furious, Benghazi scandal, and Lois Lerner/IRS) have slowrolled the congressional committees, both in their testimony and document production.
What? So the Kabuki theater as orchestrated by the WH can continue on and on? Is this what you are suggesting?
What? Can’t trust the WH to be truthful?
TO ISSA: JUST SAY NO
Or they know only too well how little Issa has actually followed through on his investigations...
We’re getting Kabuki either way.
The problem with going right before Congress is that the five-minute time limit, with alternating repair speeches by Dems, is painfully slow and frustrating.
A no holds barred meeting... maybe on the record... might get more done. Maybe the WH would throw a staff member to the wolves.
You’re probably right that a meeting would be a waste of time, though. But, I haven’t been impressed with how effective Issa’s been at getting at the truth, either. He’s no Trey Gowdy.
Or so they can just say whatever they want without the cameras on. Then lie about it to the media and the country.
Sure sounds like it, doesn't it?
Tell that son of a bitch in no uncertain terms to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.
That administration has not acted in good faith ONE SINGLE TIME, and they aren’t acting in good faith now.
They are getting tired of our talented congressmen publicly making fools of them in viral video after viral video.
I think Rep. Issa will stand firm with the subpoena. The move after that will be the White House claiming executive privilege with holder backing them up, immediately followed by the regime and msm attacking Issa.
If he does then he needs to go away. Let us hope that GOP cowardice is not on full display once again with his descision.
How many of Obama's minions can plead the fifth on camera, before the public --- who associates pleading the fifth with guilt of some magnitude that could send the pleader sent to jail for a real long time --- get's the unmistakable whiff that under any other circumstance none of Obama's minions could expect to avoid prison for anything they have done?
As if this bunch ever gave a hoot about seperation of powers. All of a sudden the Constitution matters! How laughable.
Stick to your guns, Issa. Let the subpoena stand.
I’m sure Issa will accept. After all, the GOP really does not want the truth,
just a campaign issue.
Issa should just ignore it. 0bama never replies to any Republican congresscritter.
The attempt to lie in private is a joke
This 6 minute video may help even the dullest no/low info morons understand what they have done. (Then again...) With assists from academia, liberal Jews (no, I am NOT an anti-semite but support Israel’s right to exist) and a few others, the 47% no/low info voters hooked on free chit put a MAD MAN in the Spite House! And if you thought the last 6 years were insane, wait until next year!

In other words, the White House wants to change the optics from advisors testifying before Congress, to Congress subordinating themselves in a White house office.
Move the home field advantage away from Congress and to the White House.
Stupid move if Issa goes for it.
Don’t give into this pompous ass, let them sweat it out.
Or a yet-to-be revealed threat offered behind closed doors?
No White House briefing. Send in a detachment of Marines for the old boy Obama is trying to hide. Wipe out the corrupt Secret Service blathers if they break away from their booze and naked women and try to stop the Marines.
I am paraphrasing but towards the end of the article, spokesman for Issa says as long as the briefing answers our questions all is forgiven, basically. Couple of lines before it says there is no chance it will be withdrawn.
Issa talks rough. WH says ok let’s do b instead of a. Issa folds. I see a pattern here.
My opinion precisely.
Issa will fold like a cheap umbrella!
