Yes, you read that headline correctly. Bowe Bergdahl, the Army Sgt. accused by his fellow platoon members of desertion and possible collaboration with the Taliban against the United States, is headed back to active duty. More from CNN:
Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has finished undergoing medical care and counseling at an Army hospital in San Antonio and could return to an Army unit on a Texas post as early as Monday, a defense official tells CNN.
Bergdahl was held captive by militants for five years before he was released in May in exchange for five senior Taliban members held by the U.S. military. He has always maintained his active duty status. He cannot retire from the service or be discharged until the investigation concerning his disappearance and captivity in Afghanistan is complete.
For about three weeks, Bergdahl has been an outpatient at the San Antonio hospital, and military officials have interviewed him about his time in captivity.
Bergdahl is set to take a job at Fort Sam Houston, the Army post in San Antonio, according to an Army statement Monday. He will return to "regular duty within the command where he can contribute to the mission," the statement said.
At this point, not a single soldier from Bergdahl's platoon has come forward to defend him or to justify his disappearance. Army Spc. Cody Full, who testified in front of Congress last month about Berghdahl's disappearance, is not impressed.
I guess Honor and Integrity doesn't matter much anymore. Cody Full (@CodyFNfootball) July 14, 2014
Taking a job? Heck I always thought the Army worked off orders and assigned duties.
Shouldn’t he be stationed at Fort Hood?
Someday he’ll go all Nidal Malik Hasan.
How long before he medically retires due to PTSD caused by hostile co-workers?
I'll bet he will be contributing to the mission Obama has in mind for the military.
I see a blanket party in this lads future
Let me guess. He’s going to be put in charge of the armory.
Future Democratic candidate!
Put the lad in charge of the goats for the ATLS class....might as well make the goats smile before their Ummmmmm “operation” ;-) LOL
Just need to repeat "He served in Afghanistan" a few thousand times. Does anyone have a billionaire widow they can spare?
Probably placed at a desk job where sensitive information about troop maneuvers flows and other forms of classified military intel flows cross his desk daily complete with a computer with proxy server access and untraceable NAVSAT phone. He’s also probably the only occupant and has a list of Muslim Brotherhood contacts in DC mounted on a bulletin board over his desk.
I didn't think BamBam allowed guns on an Army Post.
He’s probably in some sort of near detention for his safety.
I’d expect him to get “fragged” or whatever it is called in the USA.
Tour guide for the beautiful mountain country of Afghan.
Round trip to kabul and 7 days by jeep and horseback.
Goat cheese and milk for breakfast included.
My brother tells me that’s auto Article 15, any motivation begets disciplinary action now
Podsibility #1: the guy was a covert CIA agent. Likely explanation.
Possibility #2: the guy was a deserter and knowingly joined the Talibastards. Logical speculation.
Possibility #3: the guy was a deserter, but was kidnapped by the Talibastards. Official story.
Just how long was his enlistment?
Ft. Sam is where they send people they want to hide.
They want to keep this Islamo-Nazi demonic traitor silenced, so he remains a “soldier”. Either that or prosecution was the deal.
“I am your (demented) father, Bowe.”
Obama has to return him to active service before he can promote him to 4 star general.
Nothing proves his “innocence” like putting him back on active duty, regardless of the truth.
And Obama smiles.
“Bergdahl has finished undergoing medical care and counseling at an Army hospital in San Antonio”
And will continue psychological care at Fort Sam Houston?
He had mental problems before he ever joined the Army. His recruiter should have checked with the Coast Guard about the reasons for his discharge from the CG. Or didn’t he reveal that he was discharged from the Coast Guard when he enlisted with the Army?
And his parents had to have known that he was having mental/emotional problems and they should have notified the Army after they found out that he enlisted.
And if everyone in his barracks or platoon knew that he was strange and talking & acting weird, why didn’t they report it to the CO? And if they did, why didn’t he do anything?
Look up Army Regulations 600-62 and 630-10.
