Report: Israeli Prime Minister Backs Away From Two-State Solution

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who for years has been on record supporting the idea of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, appears to have abandoned the idea, according to The Times of Israel.

"He made explicitly clear that he could never, ever, countenance a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank," the Times reported.

While he did not renounce support for the two-state solution, his comments reflected a view that he believes such a state is no longer a possibility after Israel repeatedly evacuated Arab territories only for it to come under the control of Palestinian extremists with rockets.

"He indicated that he sees Israel standing almost alone on the front lines against vicious Islamic radicalism, while the rest of the as-yet free world does its best not to notice the march of extremism. And he more than intimated that he considers the current American, John Kerry-led diplomatic team to be, let's be polite, naïve," the Times said.

The Atlantic magazine noted that Netanyahu said earlier this year that he was concerned about vacated territories becoming an "Iranian proxy." "We want a demilitarized Palestinian state that recognizes the nation-state of the Jews," he said at the time.

But after the recent round of violence it appears Netanyahu has had a change in perspective.

He’s not backing away from it, he’s emphasizing the security needs (which he’s outlined in the past) for Israel ... in doing it.

In the early 1920’s the British divided up their part of what was left of the Ottoman Empire, setting aside 75% of what is now known as Judea for a Palestinian homeland. Giving the remaining 25% West of the Jordan river to the Jewish people in the region, some of which had been there for centuries. The Palestinian Arabs had there homeland and so did the Jews. Unfortunately, the Arabs wanted ALL the land and made it clear they weren’t going to share no matter how disproportionate the land was divided up in their favor.

This two-state solution is a lie and always has been, Palestinians have had NUMEROUS opportunities to claim a state of their own and have rejected for no other reason than the fact that they want ALL of the Jews out of the region.

Both parties can say they have a history in this part of the world, but only one refuses to acknowledge that the other has a right to exist.

Today, according to the CIA World Factbook, the Middle East consists of roughly 6,193,976 sq km of land.

Of that, Israel occupies 20,770 sq km, or just .34%.

Turkey - 769,632 sq km or 12.4%.

Lebanon - 10,230 sq km or .17%.

Egypt - 995,560 sq km or 16%.

Syria - 183,630 sq km or 2.96%.

Jordan - 88,802 sq km or 1.43%.

Iraq - 438,317 sq km or 7.08%.

Saudi Arabia - 2,149,690 sq km or 35%.

The West Bank - 5,860 sq km or .09%.

Total Arab control of the Middle East: 99.66%

So, why should the Jews be asked to give up land when the Arabs already control the vast majority and why does our President keep expecting Israel to make all the concessions?

I would make a correction to your stats. The Jews owned land in those now-arab lands, but were forced out (or murdered) and land taken away from the Jews. So in all fairness, land must be given to Israel to increase that .34% share of land. 50% ought to do it. Arabs who disagree can have space under the sand, 6 feet under that is.

If you’ve seen an up-dated map of the West Bank that shows the areas lived in/controlled by Israel/Israelis you can understand that Israel has never intended for it to be “Nation of Palestine.” There are upwards of 600,000 Israelis there now and the Palis are rapidly coming to a crossroads: either swear allegiance to Israel or get the flock someplace else-—like where you came from. The only thing that’s really changed about Ben is his pointing out that the Palis have proved they can’t handle it and that they have some actual choices to make other than chanting “death to Israel.”

Yep. The real “Nation of Palestine” was supposed to be Jordan (Transjordan), much smaller than what is now Jordan while Israel was supposed to be much larger. But the arabs didn’t like that! We all know that there is no such thing as Palestinians, the name being usurped from the Jews who traditionally comprised the land of Palestine.

You don't need a 2 state solution if.... If all that is in Gaza is lifeless smouldering rubble... Who is the head of that new state?...

It would be OK if the two states were to be Israel and Lebannon (Christian).

Jordan should be “compelled” to take back their murdering bankers, and the Gazanians can go to Hell...or ISIS, whichever is closer.
