WASHINGTON Residents of Anthem are about to get a new neighbor.
Sen. Harry Reid on Tuesday confirmed he and his wife, Landra, have picked a home in the upscale Henderson community, and plan to move in later this summer.
The Reids are moving out of Searchlight, where the Nevada senator was born and where he returned as he built his political career.
We bought a home, said the 74-year-old Senate majority leader in a brief interview in the Capitol. It hasnt closed yet but we made an offer on it.
Not disclosing the address, he said it was previously owned, and was about 3,500 square feet, roughly the size of the two-bedroom ranch house the couple had built for them in Searchlight.
Reid said he expected the closing would take place at the end of the month, and the couple would move in during August. He said his wife found the property, and he went and looked at it last week during the Senates recess.
The location was strategic for family purposes, Reid said, as three of his sons live in or near Henderson.
Its a mile from one of my boys and a half-mile from the other, he said.
Reid is likely moving into Anthem Country Club, a gated community with armed guards. Sons Josh and Key Reid live there with their families. Attorney Key Reid has lived on Plum Hollow Drive since 2004, and Josh Reid moved into a house 1.1 miles away on Winding Road in 2008.

There goes the neighborhood :-(
He needs to move to a gated community, what with all that lucre he’s pilfered from taxpayers!
He needs to be moved to Leavenworth Gated and guarded community
One that locks from the outside...
Gated? What happens to the people who climb that fence and decide to stay?
...and the tie goes to the runner.
LOL, here, here.
Got to move some place secure with all that cash bribe money he has
gotten over the years.
Shoot, if he really believes in the America he helped make, why doesn’t he move to Chicago, DC, the Borders of Texas, Arizona and California. Heck if he lived like the rest of us, he could experience the American Dream he help put together.
Yet he opposes allowing the peasants to arm themselves.
That’s a big house for a couple of people! Imagine all the carbon used to keep that place cool!
It must be nice to amass so much money in public office that you can stay in a Ritz Carlton condo while in the District of Corruption and then buy anything you want to in Vegas.
Congratulations, Dingy, it looks like you are one of the 1 percenters you like to demagogue.
Good one Karl.
Why on earth would HR want a secure place with gates ?
Want to keep the peasants out Harry?
Got to move some place secure to be safe from all the new Obama voters invading our country.
The libs will work to protect themselves from baraq’s homies.
Heard Zimmerman is out of work maybe they’ll hire him.
Uh...could it be due to upcoming civil unrest?
That big house needs a couple of illegal families living there too.
