Conservative policy analyst Gary Palmer has come from behind to defeat state Rep. Paul DeMarco in the Republican runoff in Alabama’s 6th District congressional race. With 53 percent of the precincts reporting Tuesday, Palmer led DeMarco with 62 percent. He was far ahead in all six counties in the central Alabama district. The results are a turnaround from the primary, when DeMarco easily outdistanced Palmer and five other candidates.

I have always admired Arnie, for his golf but also because he is a class act. As far as I know there has never been a hint of scandal tied to his name unlike most athletes of today. He has always been a gentleman in the best sense of the word. Golf, unlike other sports, is much more likely to make the news when a golfer does something wrong because it is a man bites dog story. If you follow the game Palmer represents many in the sport, golf just seems to create them.

You are lucky to have him for a neighbor.

11 A crowded field split the conservative vote in the primary. They all endorsed Gary Palmer in the runoff. And he annihilated DeMarco in debates.

This is about the safest Republican seat in the country, and it should have been held by someone who could be a conservative leader in DC without worrying about re-election. But unfortunately, it was held by an underwhelming career politician. Gary Palmer is a huge, huge upgrade!

Agree with most all you said. I attended 1 of the 7-way debates. It was tough to differentiate. Many of us agree that Bachus shouldn't "let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya." I voted for Palmer in both primaries. While he has been a lobbyist in Montgomery for 20+ years, he came across as a solid conservative. I think he got a huge boost from 1 of our local talk radio conservatives, Leland Waylie. Waylie, who has political campaign experience analyzed that DeMarco went negative too soon on the other candidates and was revealed to be an "empty suit" not ready for prime time.

I hope I am not disappointed in Palmer. We got 1 post card, can't remember which politico group it was, that claimed Palmer stated 2 years ago that AL could not afford to keep illegal aliens out of AL.

DeMarco was ahead in 1st primary & was the more establishment candidate. DeMarco tried to paint Palmer as a liberal. I mean it was stupid. All of these candidates were conservatives so it made no sense. DeMarco ran a “low information voter” style campaign like dems do and assumed he could fool people. Didn’t work.

When DeMarco was asked about whether the public was tired of negative campaigning he says he is tired of the attacks on him and denies he ran a negative campaign. The lies backfired.

On a radio show one guy that had worked with Palmer remarked about his uncanny memory and recall. As an added plus Palmer can throw out facts and figures at will which will also be effective.

The good folks in Alabama sent the GOP-e a message...

I don't think the GOP-e understands the message.

GOP-e set on being another Democratic party only with weaker leadership...

Go Tea Party

Go Tea Party Express...

Very good and where we need to focus the most attention. A conservative House is a bulwark against the real enemy - the US Senate.

Yeah but in the more local races, the GOPe won.

The Montgomery Pravda’s (Advertiser) headline today:
“GOP ESTABLISHMENT WINS!”

For the first time ever I’ll actually vote for an Independant this November because I can not ever vote for clyde chambliss who is such a pathological liar he makes 0bama look honest.

I think both of them were relatively weak on amnesty but I’d take someone who is opposed by Boehner, Pittenger, Ellmers and McHenry.

Huckabee and Rand Paul are both pro-amnesty but Huckabee upsets the GOPE with his social issues. I think Walker even attacked Norquist.

If Todd Akin hadn’t run in 2012 the whole narrative would have been Republicans lost because of the Latino vote. At least the war on women BS is still out there and it is preferable they try to pander to women instead of hispanics.

A Huckabee or a libertarian (like Amash against Ellis) is better than someone who says “Boehner is my boss”.

Some people attacked Greg Brannon as being pro-amnesty because Rand Paul endorsed him. It is interesting how they use the endorsements.

It is probably a good thing that Rand is not endorsing in some races because the primary voters will think they are voting for a libber pro amnesty candidate.

Americans are so infuriated over our open borders that the RINOs have succeess using the illegals issue against consservative opponents!
The same RINOs who had every opportunity to force the borders to be protected and didn’t.

But angry people are easily manipulated.
