"As Senior White House Advisor Defies Congressional Subpoena, Committee Releases Audio Recording of Cabinet Secretary Making Illegal Campaign Solicitation" Then Labor Secretary: “Off-the-record here—Wanted to ask you if you could help us get folks organized to come to a fundraiser that we’re doing for Organizing for America for Obama campaign”

As Director of the White House Office of Political Strategy and Outreach, David Simas, in defiance of a congressional subpoena, failed to appear today to testify before a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on taxpayer-funded political campaign activity by government officials, the Committee released an audio recording of then-United States Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis illegally soliciting funds for President Obama’s re-election campaign in violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits political activity on official time.

In his opening statement, Chairman Issa played a recording of a message left on the phone of a Labor Department subordinate pressuring the employee to contribute to President Obama’s re-election campaign. The recording subsequently became the subject of a complaint made to the Office of Special Counsel. Then-Labor Secretary Solis says:

“Hi—this is Hilda Solis calling....

They will justify it by saying Citizens United ruling is morally equivalent.

I just want to know if this is a felony, and if Hilda will go to federal prison. Remember Scooter Libby.

What is congress going to do when obozo declares martial law and cancels the next presidential election? After all, no law is too big to break by this administration. Because congress let obozo skate on his very first criminal act as president they essentially signaled that no laws apply to him and he is taking full advantage.

Interesting and seems like a clear violation by Hilda but what does that have to do with Simas and his office?

If the US Congress is a co-equal branch of Government, then the Administration is not “more equal” than Congress.

If, however, Chairman Issa allows his subpoena for White House staff member David Simas to not be honored, then the Administration is above Congress, and the Administration is above the Laws derived from the Constitution of the United States of America.

Will Chairman Issa, as always before, fold like a cheap suit?

“. . . what does that have to do with Simas and his office?”

I’ve also been thinking about this. Maybe they have similar evidence on Simas or in some way this signals that the committee has evidence connecting Simas with Solis. I think they really want to ask Simas questions for which they already have most of the answers. I would want to get one of these ‘periphery of the inner circle’ people to crack and maybe that is what they are trying to do.

I’d be a lot more confident of these hearings if Gowdy were the chairman. Issa is just not up to the task.

Okay, Issa! You’ve got the smoking gun. Now what are you going to do about it?

Just like all the others. Won’t do anything and thus emboldens BO & Co. IMHO, all that is needed is to actually arrest one person in the Admin and the entire thing will crumble.

The unspoken promise of a pardon will keep them quiet but I’m thinking he will renege and leave them hung out to dry.

What a laugh. Take this refusal to testify to the Supremes. They aren’t asking for testimony for actions as a presidential advisor.

Understand that, to the Left, it's not "abuse".

The law doesn't apply to them.

It is their right to use their power, in any way they see fit, so as to sustain their power.

It's not a double standard because...we will all be better off for it. They know best.

Obama doesn’t want to be president anymore. He’s too lazy. If anybody declares martial law it will be Val.
