Extraordinary images of hundreds of Central Americans climbing on top of 'La Bestia' cargo train in attempt to reach Mexico-U.S. border
This is 'La Bestia' - or 'The Beast' - which is perhaps the most treacherous train in the world.
It is not built to carry passengers, but that doesn't stop around 1,500 migrants piling on board the freight train's roof....
For years Mexico's notorious drug gangs have been in control of the route, charging $100 (£64) or more for permission to mount the train.
Threats, attacks and extortion continue en route after it departs from Arriaga, in Mexico's southern Chiapas state, around 160 miles north of the Guatemala border....
Mexican politicians generally see little upside in cracking down on migrants who simply pass through on the way to slipping into the U.S., just as so many Mexicans have done. They stay only a few days and don't affect schools or services.
What's more, migrant smuggling is a highly lucrative business that generates payoffs for local law enforcement to look the other way and lots of revenue for legal businesses.....
On Monday night, Honduran migrant Darwin Ernesto Ramirez, 28, said he had already heard the rumours that this could be La Bestia's last run. Just before he swung aboard the train, he said: 'I don't think they can stop this. A lot of us will just wait for it down the tracks.'
'Mexico will cede to U.S. pressure and will implement a semi-closed border in response,' predicts Victor Clark, director of Tijuana's Binational Center for Human Rights. But rather than stopping the flow, Clark says, it will just make smugglers richer.
'The prices they charge will go up,' he said.

Not very many children on that train.
I wonder why no criminal charges are filed when mothers and fathers select to ride the train with their kids known as the train of death ? Known as the train of death, but not known to for being against the law to put anyone at any age on it.It almost looks like carnival show out there.Obama has created many jobs for the drug cartels.Everybody wants piece of the action. It’s all about money.
Unpleasant as this may be---US citizens need to add this to their list of grievances.
The deadly E-coli is a distinct threat---these people come from uncivilized villages that have no sanitary facilities ---they never even saw a roll of toilet tissue---much less know what to do with it.
Observing the invaders atop speeding trains---one can only conjecture on their hygiene.....nauseating to think of how thay might have handled body wastes.
==============================================
The e-coli threat is a given. The invaders will be in store, restaurants handling our food and merchandise
The deadly E-coli is passed through unclean hands from improper bathroom habits. E-coli has been found on the handles of supermarket carts.
And more----there's e-coli contamination on school buses, school facilities, school supplies, books......and public buses that transported them....and so on.
on the move from the top of the train while it's going down the track -- giving new meaning to the term "movement".
Obama maybe should give speech about climate change related to the train..
I noticed that too. The photographer must have had to search for quite a while to find the one little kid to photograph. On the other hand the adults can always claim they are 16. Why not?
We will give up eating at Mexican restaurants after this invasion. It’s not that difficult to cook Mexican food at home where the cook washes her hands.
They’re not only in Mexican restaurants-—there’s fast food hamburger joints, supermarkets, retail stores.....the contamination could get fierce.
It should be “All Aboard the Obama Death Train”. Pass it on. Not only are they currently risking a national pandemic by dispersing this sick individuals throughout the country, but they are creating a trial run for ISIS, etc. to create a very nasty pandemic.
Looks like there are many La Bestias atleast 4 — the ones in this case dumping their shipment at Reynoso and Nuevo Laredo in south Texas.
From the pictures it can also be called the Cholo Choo-Choo.
I heard that it takes 45 days on that train to travel the 1000 miles to the Texas border.
So how does that logistically work if the train is bringing say 1000/day???
I have no idea how many trains arrive at the border points daily.
My guess is there are more than one. La Beasti is just a name
applied to the trains, not just one train is my understanding.
