Chamber of Commerce: We've 'Never' Supported Amnesty (are they feeling the heat??)
breitbart.com ^ | 7/17/14 | Tony Lee

Posted on 07/17/2014 6:29:27 PM PDT by cotton1706

On Wednesday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce claimed that it has never supported amnesty, despite vowing to spend at least $50 million to ram through amnesty legislation and oppose anti-amnesty and Tea Party candidates.

"The U.S. Chamber does not support amnesty and never has," Sean Hackbarth wrote on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.

The Chamber of Commerce took issue with Rush Limbaugh's statement that the Chamber would not finance candidates in 2016 who do not support comprehensive amnesty legislation because Limbaugh, though capturing the gist of the Chamber's stated intentions, did not accurately quote Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue.

Limbaugh recently said on his program that Donohue essentially said, "If you don't do amnesty, you may as well not even nominate a candidate in 2016 'cause none of us are gonna give any Republican any money if they don't do this." Donohue had half-joked earlier this year at the event Limbaugh referenced that the GOP would not win the White House if it did not pass amnesty legislation, and he said he hoped it would be passed in the lame-duck session.

“If the Republicans don’t do it [pass immigration reform], they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016,” Donohue said. “Think about that. Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybody’s attention.” But as Limbaugh noted, the Chamber of Commerce is unlikely to enthusiastically back a candidate who is against amnesty legislation.

Sorry, but culture and country do come into the mix SOMEWHERE.

IMMIGRATION REFORM

Immigration Reform

Continue pursuing immigration reform that includes the following:

Reforming our legal immigration system, including both green card reform and the implementation of workable temporary worker programs for high-skilled and lesser-skilled workers as well as the agriculture industry.

A federal employment verification system that is workable for employers.

A legal status for the estimated 11 million undocumented people here, allowing them to emerge from the shadows, creating a stable workforce.

Improving enforcement to protect our borders while facilitating the flow of trade and travel.

Support legislation that takes meaningful steps toward addressing all four critical immigration priorities as noted above.

Strongly oppose bills that cripple the current nonimmigrant worker visa systems and fail to include a mechanism to ensure that businesses have a future flow of workers to fill jobs when Americans are not available. Oppose legislation that imposes unworkable and inconsistent electronic employment verification systems.

High-Skilled Immigration

Advocate for continuing and expanding both temporary and permanent visa programs for highly skilled workers (including, L-1 and H-1B as well as EB green cards) to ensure that employers are able to compete for global talent to remain competitive, including creating a new STEM green card category.

Essential Lesser-Skilled Workers

Secure additional essential workers to counteract demographic trends, provide for targeted earned legalization of those essential undocumented workers already here, challenge burdensome new regulations of H-2B nonagricultural worker programs, and support creation of workable agricultural and nonseasonal lesser-skilled worker programs.

Make certain that any immigration reform package contains strong language ensuring a future flow program so that U.S. companies will be able to hire legal immigrant workers in a timely fashion.

Electronic Employment Verification System

Work with Congress on implementing an electronic employment verification system that preempts state laws, includes limited subcontractor liability, covers only new hires, and establishes safe harbor provisions for employers using the system in good faith.

Travel, Tourism, and Border Issues

Urge Congress and the administration to expand the Visa Waiver Program and address delays, backlogs, and disruptions in our immigration and border management systems that impede the movement of legitimate businesses and tourists traveling across U.S. borders.

Technically they are right. They want *illegal* workers, not US citizens. If they could, they would be all in favor of restoring slavery for cheap labor.

The Chamber of Commerce is *not* a patriotic American organizations. Their leadership work for multinational corporations who support internationalism over nations, and the RINOs who support them see these multinationals as their *real* constituents.

Once conservatives control the Republican party, they need to insulate themselves from these often anti-American organizations. If a corporation would sell-out America for short term profits, they should not be influencing our government.

The quibbles go on endlessly, in part because depending on one’s political position, the line between “amnesty” and “something less” varies in a very entertaining way.

Perhaps the best answer is to press for clarification before accusing someone of lying because of a different point of view.

Bingo. Its why we play this amnesty game every two years. In the end, nothing is done, the border remains wide open and the illegals keep coming.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas J. Donohue said Monday that Congress must get back to the issue of immigration, arguing that businesses need an influx of immigrant labor because American workers aren’t available.

“Immigrants do not typically compete with Americans for jobs, and, in fact, create more jobs through entrepreneurship, economic activity, and tax revenues,” he said. “Immigrants serve as a complement to U.S.-born workers and can help fill labor shortages across the skill spectrum and in key sectors.”

The chamber brokered a major deal last year with labor unions that called for illegal immigrants to gain legal status and for an increase in future legal immigration for work purposes. That deal cleared the way for the Senate to pass a broad immigration overhaul.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ON IMMIGRATION REFORM: ‘WE’RE GOING TO USE EVERY TOOL AND RESOURCE AT OUR DISPOSAL’

“We’re going to use every tool and resource at our disposal. And we’re going to keep pushing our leaders to do the right thing for our country, if not before the election, then after—perhaps during a lame-duck session,” U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue declared Monday in a blog post.

According to Donohue, while leaders have shown they are unlikely to move forward with immigration reform in Congress this year, his body is not going to stop pushing for it.

“Those of us who have been fighting for years for meaningful reform are disappointed by the lack of progress,” he wrote. “But we’re not discouraged, and we’re not deterred. In fact, the business community and our coalition of partners—including labor, law enforcement, the tech sector, civic organizations, and the faith-based community—are more determined than ever to fix our broken system.”

The Chamber of Commerce has been a force for immigration reform, arguing that the reforms they seek will benefit the economy by expanding businesses’ access to more employees and attracting more business investment to the U.S.

Earlier this spring, Donohue said that, if the GOP did not pass immigration reform, they would not have a chance in the 2016 presidential election.
“If the Republicans don’t do it, they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016,” Donohue joked in May. “Think about that. Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybody’s attention.

Donohue’s blog post did not make reference to the influx of illegal immigration, largely from Central America, that has resulted in a crisis at the southern border. However, at a news conference last week, Donohue acknowledged that the surge has made moving the ball on immigration reform harder.

“You’re damn right, it makes it more difficult,” he said, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal .

Despite the difficultly, Donohue stressed Monday, “We know that immigration reform will ultimately get done—because it must get done.”

But the CoC doesn’t really need to support Amnesty when Barack is doing an end run around Congress and our borders any way. Who needs laws?

“...A legal status for the estimated 11 million undocumented people here...”
**************************************************************************************

If ANYONE believes this long bogus figure of “11 million”, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn for you. It’s closer to 30 million and if amnesty actually passed, millions more would flood across the border, load up with fictitious “evidence” that they have been here prior to whatever “required residence date” would be in the amnesty law and then submit their amnesty paperwork.

Just as the “1 million” illegal aliens that were supposedly in the US at the time Reagan was snookered into signing “his” amnesty turned out to be 3 million, so the 30 million here would turn out to be perhaps 40 million. It wouldn’t be pretty.

Americans should ask politely which C/o/C companies employ illegals--particularly the ones riding the freight train---swarming in at the border.

CONTACT U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Address: 1615 H St NW,
Washington, DC 20062
Phone:(202) 659-6000

Observing mobs of invaders riding atop speeding freight trains for 1700 miles---one can only conjecture on their hygiene.....nauseating to think of how thay might have handled body wastes.

No running water or flush toilets atop that train.

==============================================

The e-coli threat is a given. The C/o/C will employ these invaders in US industry, in retail stores, in restaurants, handling our food and merchandise.

The deadly E-coli is passed through unclean hands from improper bathroom habits. E-coli has been found on the handles of supermarket carts.

And more----there's e-coli contamination on school buses, school facilities, school supplies, books......and public buses that transported them....and so on.

============================================

US manufacturing, Mexican restaurants, fast food hamburger joints, supermarkets, retail stores, lanscaping.....the contamination could get fierce.
