CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me finish tonight with a flashback. From the moment I heard about today's shooting down of a Malaysian airliner over Ukraine, I remember that 1983 shooting down of a Korean airliner over Soviet airspace (Korean Air Lines Flight 007). Back then, the Soviets, still in a Cold War mindset refused to even admit responsibility for the deliberate murder of 269 passengers including, U.S. Congressman Lawrence McDonald of Georgia who was aboard. Here's how President Reagan reacted:
REAGAN: What can we think of a regime that so broadly trumpets its vision of peace and global disarmament and yet so callously and quickly commits a terrorist act to sacrifice the lives of innocent human beings? What can be said about Soviet credibility when they is a flagrantly lie about such a heinous act?
MATTHEWS: I can tell you, he was speaking for the American people back then who were absolutely furious at what the Soviets had done. Their cold-blooded killing of so many innocent people, their brutal destruction of so many human lives, their utter lack of compassion for the people aboard that plane. Here's the way our president and we, the American people, felt:
REAGAN: We know it will be hard to make a nation that rules its own people through force to cease using force against the rest of the world, but we must try. This is not a role we sought. We preach no manifest destiny. But like Americans who began this country and brought forth this last best hope of mankind, history has asked much of the Americans of our own time, much we have already given, much more we must be prepared to give.
MATTHEWS: There are events like this today that no one forgets, especially not today.

The end times are here. Mathews is sounding increasingly more sane
Not directly a criticism against a particular person but perhaps the tingle is gone?
What’s”Chrissy”been Smokin’?Does he still get that”Tingle”when Obongo is nearby??
I assure you it’s just a brief lapse.
I wish he had also read Obama’s words as a comparison.
Don’t get all worked up. It’s either broken clock / blind squirrel syndrome, he’s part of the “look! squirre!” crowd or both his viewers were washing their sox this evening.
Obummer mocked Romney when Romney said Russia was our chief geo-political enemy. Sadly, Romney was entirely correct about Russia under Putin.
Obummer, Go do some more fund raisers! You are no leader!!
Nice attempt at trying to sound sane, Chris, but I’m not buying it.
A moment of honest clarity from Matthews. That should
carry him through the rest of the decade. As for the
(I refuse to use the word “our”)current president, well,
another tragedy, another fundraiser.
Matthews, when the guilty are lined up in front of the ditch I hope and pray you are there to pay for support of communism and tyrants. If you were on that plane the word justice would have new meaning!
AA: Affirmative Action does not work for the highest office in the land. Remember that O Voters.
Meanwhile, Zerobama tosses out a glib “sucks to be them” type of comment between fundraisers and photo ops.
Maybe the next Russian attack on an airplane will have a bunch of Democrat politicians and strategists on it and we can compare/contrast his reactions.
Don’t get too enamored with this jerk. He and his kind are simply setting the Marxist as foil to Hillary.
I think Matthews was simply trying to coach Obama on leadership. Sorry, Chris, you just can’t put lipstick on that pig.
OMG, O’buzzo has lost Cronkite,..er, Chrissy.
Wow. I am brought to tears, upon reading Reagan’s eloquent words spoken to that tragic and senseless act of terrorism.
What we would give for such a leader, today.
I’d be happy just to see him living the rest of his days on lower Wacker sleeping under cardboard and old newspapers especially through some harsh Chicago winters. Begging for loose change in total obscurity. Perhaps he will repent in time before he is called before the just judge.
