MIAMI (AP) — Florida authorities have arrested more than 100 workers at a Naples vegetable packing plant for allegedly using fake identities to get their jobs.

The state's Division of Insurance Fraud led Wednesday's raid, in which at least 105 people were taken to the Collier County jail. A labor attorney said all or nearly all of the workers are immigrants. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they are providing support to state investigators in the case.

Pastor Jesus Ortega of the Assemblies of God Ministry of Belem said he was helping the families of five detained parishioners gather the money for the $10,000 bond. He said all five had been in the country roughly a decade. Ortega said one 30-year-old woman was five months pregnant.

"They are all very upset. They are people who came to work and to help their families get ahead. It's very hard for them," he said. They are very upset that the actual laws of America at some point and time applied to them.Who knows how many real ids were in use.

Pastor Jesus Ortega

Perhaps the pastor is an illegal also. . . he probably checked his patriotism at the border. This whole immigration thing is out of control. America cannot be everything to all people. Aid needs to be given to people in their own country. I am blessed that I was born here to loving parents but our country is in such a mess (economically and spiritually) that short of a miracle, I’m afraid gloom and doom is inevitable from now on.

I do NOT get it: the clowns allow 1000s to cross the border without medical, criminal, or legal scrutiny, but those that have worked here and would become citizens are rounded up, What’s the problem....would they vote Republican if allowed to do so?

Immigration is a strange outfit.

It’s especially tough on the Americans whose Social Security numbers have been stolen by the criminals. They deserve swift deportation, and their families should go with them. They did not respect our laws and should be punished as any other lawbreaker is punished.

That points out an interesting aspect of the illegal alien problem that I've not seen much if anything about before. Every state probably has laws against ID fraud and many other crimes illegal aliens commit beyond illegal entry into the US.

I don't recall hearing in the past where states enforced such laws against illegals. When these law are broken, it has nothing to do with the Feds preeminence in immigration law.

^ Ditto what he said. I’m sick of them and the invasion, diseases, economic stresses, burdens on our schools, language demands, tolerance demands when they have none and mostly….do unto others as you would have done unto you. So Mexico, send our Marine back!

It ticks me off that because they illegally managed to stay in our country for a long time people think they should be let off easier. I think they should be punished more than someone who just entered.

Tell that to Arizona, Texas and Florida.

Everytime any concerted attempt is made to enforce laws against illegal aliens, the feds swoop in and claim “jurisdiction” to protect them.

Anyone who buys a Tyson product is enabling illegal slave labor.
But the southern states are not allowed to complain about imported slaves...

“for allegedly using fake identities to get their jobs.”

So, which one is the next Dem presidential nominee?

States enforce criminal laws against illegals all the time. Court rulings a couple of years back prevented states from enforcing immigration law. Crimes such as ID fraud are interesting because they are general crimes, but when committed to hide illegal status, that does become interesting.

I'd bet the states can enforce them, but they'd never have the jail space to lock the illegals up because there are so many millions around the country committing ID crimes.

Yea, get ahead by stealing TaxPayer provided benefits that they have no right to.

A good scripture that provides a good analogy:

John 10:1

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

The company that hired those people should be fined 3 thousand dollars a day for each ILLEGAL that worked there. If one of those illegal worked for a year... it would be $1,095,000 for that one illegal. It would put a dent in the companies profit.

It would be the only way to stop the hiring of illegals.

“They are people who came to work and to help their families get ahead. It’s very hard for them...”

Boo-Hoo! Did they think about what misery they created for the real American citizens who had their social security numbers stolen? Hell no! After all, they are criminals...period!

Know of someone who had their SS number stolen? Then you know the horrors the IRS placed on them while they had to prove the violation of law....not the IRS. Worse yet, they had to endure all of the threats and hate mail the IRS threw at them until the problem was solved.

These vermin that stole their SS numbers should rot in hell!

Read the story, this was a Florida State operation to end tax fraud. Even citizens and "Green Card" aliens using false IDs would land in jail and some may have.
