Homosexuality remains rare, but bisexuality rising among youth and correlated w dysfunction
Analysis of CDC Report ^ | 7-17-14 | Dangus

Fascinating data released from the Center for Disease Control about homosexuality.

Homosexuality is not becoming more common. Out of 300 million Americans, only 2 million are homosexual men. 98% of men are heterosexual. And the share of the young-adult (18-45) public which is homosexual (1.9%) is almost the same as that of the middle-aged (45-64) public (1.8%), despite AIDS having ravaged the gay population which is now largely middle-aged.

Bisexuality may well be another matter. Young adults are three times more likely than middle-aged adults to be bisexual, although that's still just over 1% of the total population. (Women are far more likely to be bisexual.)

It's hard to know from a single snapshot whether that's because the young-adult cohort is substantially different than the middle-aged cohort, or whether the cohort which is now middle-aged has changed substantially since they were younger. It's possible that vast numbers of people who once regarded themselves as bisexual have now chosen one gender or another. If they no longer regard themselves as bisexual, it's worth exploring studying whether they feel their sexuality has changed, or they feel they were mistaken in identifying themselves as bisexual. It seems unlikely that young adults are simply that much more likely to admit to a survey to being bisexual, since middle-agers certainly aren't less likely admit to being homosexual.

The other possibility is that unlike homosexuality, the bisexual population is rapidly growing among young adults. If so, the CDC data suggests this is not a good thing, since compared to heterosexual women, bisexual women are…
… twice as likely to smoke (28.5% of bisexuals, 25.7% of lesbians, 14% of hetero[sexual]s)
… far more than twice as likely to have binged on alcohol in the past year (more than five drinks in a day) (33.8% of bisexuals, 25.8% of lesbians, 14.3% of heteros)
…60% more likely to be obese (40.9% of bisexuals, 36.7% of lesbians, 28.3% of heteros)
… two and a half times more likely to have experienced psychological distress in the past 30 days (10.9% of bisexuals, 5.3% of lesbians, 4.2% of heteros)
… and according to a separate report published jointly with the Department of Justice, women in Lesbian relations were five times more likely to commit physical assault (35.4% vs. 7.1%)

Bisexual men are even more likely to smoke, binge-drink, and be abusive then bisexual women. (They are less likely to be obese than even straight men or women.) These negative behaviors are not simply due to the stress of being a sexual minority; exclusively gay and lesbian people are actually statistically more like heterosexual people in all of these health crises.

Many interesting questions arise from the study:
Is bisexuality on the rise?
Or have former bisexuals ceased being bisexual?
Or have they decided they were mistaken about being bisexual when they were younger?
Does our society's promotion of sexual confusion among young adults cause unhealthy behavior?
Or are psychologically troubled youth more likely to be sexually confused?
What do you think? Keep in mind, all the answers could be positive in part.

Any emotional, spiritual or psychological problems associated with homosexuality or bisexuality should inspire compassion towards the afflicted, not be an excuse to hate or abuse homosexuals, bisexuals or the afflicted.

It seems risk taking or Borderline Personality Disorder is much more common in the gay population, I also bet Histrionic Personality Disorder is more common as well.

imho, the rise in bisexuality is because of indoctrination by the the media/schools/entertainment complex.

Children are being told that homosexuality is aMaZiNg, so they then try it.

Someone needs to do a study to find out how many try homosexuality and are turned off by it. But those results would never be published.

Unfortunately, Islam disproves the notion that exposing a lie that a repressive society is built on will lead to freedom. Nobody believes that crap about Mohammed in Islamofascist states. But imagine the way The Emperor’s New Clothes would have turned out if the child who said the emperor was naked was tortured, beaten, and murdered. When people have to choose between reason and their safety, most people sacrifice their reason.

There were polls numbers out this week that youth estimated these numbers at 13x higher than reality.

Shows how warped their worldview is thanks to Hollywood.

Bisexual? How does that even work?

I’ve gotta agree with Mr Andrew Dice Clay here.

And for “bi” guys, I have to wonder.. what sane woman would consider dating man who’s done stuff with another man? A bi guy is just going to leave a woman later on down the road. Either that, or he’ll be cheating on her on the side. Makes no sense.

Are you doubting the data, or just reminding us all that generalizing is prejudiced.

The in thing now is for two straight female celebrities to kiss each other on the mouth. It’s all about the “shock value”. These low-life creeps are not bi-sexual. But they like to show that love is beautiful. Makes me want to throw up.

I forgot who posted this yesterday but it's insane. NSFW or for normal folks.

Here's a sample of her scholarly writing:

Men, homo rapiens, you scum, you filth. There is no word to describe the extent of your evil, you are pure evil, pure lechery. I hate you, how I hate you. In the 250,000 years of your rotten, defunct existence, you have managed to kill 5 million years of life on earth.

It’s easy to understand - young men aren’t allowed to be what they are anymore: heterosexual.

So since they’re not gay, they have to play the PC “bi” game, which disgusts and depresses them, violates their very spirits, and wraps them in a work totally foreign to them. They are also taught that being a normal straight man is a mental illness and to hate themselves for it.

So - Shazam, they’re depressed and substance abusers. Mystery? No way.

Planned.

These negative behaviors are not simply due to the stress of being a sexual minority;

This is a ridiculous, politically correct statement. In fact the negative behaviors probably correlate pretty well to other people with mental illnesses.

I hate generalizations.
The study left out things I would also consider important though. What is the comparison on STD’s in bisexual, lesbian and hetero women? The assault statistic, is that more likely to commit assault on their partner or on other people? What is the incidence of date rape in lesbian and bi-sexual relationships as opposed to hetero relationships?
Also, when I would go out dancing, most girls I knew in the clubs were in their early 20’s and were experimenting with many things at that time, booze, cigarettes, and same sex relationships. Thy self-identified as bi sexual at that time period even though they were as my mother would say “Just going through a phase”.
And what constitutes bi-sexuality in this survey? A 16-year old girl who kissed another girl at a party may label herself as bi-sexual because teen guys think “that’s hot”, even though she’s not into women.
