Driver’s license centers snatch your fingerprints (shortened)
Dallas News ^ | Jun 7, 2014 | Dave Lieber

The other day at the Texas driver’s license center, while paying for my required in-person renewal, the clerk said it was time to take my fingerprints.

What?

Really. Quietly, earlier this year, the Texas Department of Public Safety began requiring full sets of fingerprints from everyone who obtains a new driver’s license or photo identification card.

Until now, if a person never got arrested, most likely his or her fingerprints would never get recorded and placed in a government database.

[] The new fingerprinting program is only one aspect of the state’s 21st-century security system.

Since 2010, Texas has used facial recognition software to match driver’s license photos with government databases looking for persons wanted by law enforcement for various reasons.

Not a big deal for me as I have been fingerprinted multiple times by the government. Between clearances and federal employment and working for banks and military training I’ve been finger printed so often that I’m sure they can estimate my age, weight and occupation by my finger prints.

Gov. Perry approve of this?

They’ve been taking the thumbs from each hand for nearly 2 decades now.

Said it was biometrics.

Never have let me pick of a replacement license just by scanning my fingers. Never have scanned my fingers as a matter of procedure to confirm ID.

They always require me to provide 2 forms of ID (a social security card and either birth certificate or a passport).

Obama never had to do this to become president.

The 300,000 illegal aliens don’t have to do this.

Doesn’t pay to be a citizen anymore.

They are building a “suspects” list for persons who’ve never been charged with a crime to accuse random strangers in “cold cases”. Whatever it takes to clear the books even if there is no evidence to place a person at the scene or a crime than a cigarette butt or some other thing that could be planted by a criminal.

Maybe it’s another edict of the NEA like our state’s speed limits.

Next step - biometric readers (thumbprint) on voting machines, just like on my laptop.
Positive match required before being allowed to vote.

Pigs grown wings yet?

The DHS has been “assisting” the states Department of Motor Vehicles by giving them equipment to build bio metric databases for the Feds.

We’ve had quite the dust up over it in Missouri the last couple of years. Not sure if we beat back the invaders or they are flying under the radar.

This is a damned if you do or don’t. It might help catch some crooks or illegals.

Banks have been doing thumb prints for years if you were not a customer of theirs when you cash a check.

CCW people, and those who need gov’t clearance for work are required to do it. All Military have a set of fingerprints on file, just another form of ID.

I don’t see it as a big deal, no more than like a Photo ID to vote. Maybe it’s time to do a thumb print for that too. That way we know the dead won’t be voting. Or voting multiple times. Easier to catch the perp doing it.

People need to recognize that this is part of Real ID. That your state drivers license be Real ID compliant.

Some states have compliant licenses, some are moving in that direction, and some are opposed and some are opposed because it is an unfunded mandate and some because of civil liberty issues.

Real ID originated with the 9-11 commission, but as you touched on, it is also about illegal workers.

Part of "comprehensive immigration reform" is expanding the guest worker programs so they will have to have a tamper proof id, but that won't work unless the natives also have tamper proof id. Supposedly these types of IDs can not be faked so the illegals will not have access to them.

I had to give my fingerprints in order to work as a substitute teacher. How can the demand fingerprints of everyone for a driver’s license? Did the Texas Legislature approve this? Isn’t this against the 4th Amendment?

They can have my fingerprints when they start asking for ID at the Voting Booth and persecuting voting fraud with extreme prejudice!

That is my only non-negotiable position on this!

I had to give my fingerprints in order to work as a substitute teacher.

My wife had to give fingerprints to volunteer at our local school. Three times the police took her prints, and three times the central processing unit couldn't successfully digitize them. At the end of the year, she was sent a notice that she couldn't return the following year because she had failed to provide her finger prints.

We should be running the fingerprints of all of the 24 year old “teenage” gangbangers crossing our border for “shelter” against foreign country criminal databases.

Canada won’t even permit a misdemeanor drunk driver to cross their border (even if not driving) because the charge is a felony up there.

Tn does, and if you can’t afford a non DL photo ID they provide it. No excuse not to have one.

It is a phony made up excuse so illegals can vote.
