U.S. intelligence agencies said a Malaysian airliner flying over Ukraine was shot down by a surface-to-air-missile of unknown origin Thursday. Vice President Joe Biden said it was “blown out of the sky.” The Boeing jetliner had 295 people on board and was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Ukraine’s foreign ministry blamed pro-Russian rebels who allegedly used the Russian-made Buk missile system.
The Daily Beast's Josh Rogin reports top Democrats in Congress called the incident a “terrorist attack” and “act of war,” adding that Putin may be to blame.
Anna Nemstova reports that the plane’s black box has been sent to Moscow “for investigation.” If rebels were operating a Buk missile system and shot down the plane, they likely couldn't see what they were shooting at, Chris Albritton and Dave Majumdar report. Clive Irving writes commercial aircraft were avoiding Crimea but apparently not eastern Ukraine, assuming that cruising altitude would keep planes safe.

An act of war against Malaysia?
You can be sure 0 is looking through all the newspapers and watching news, to get to the bottom of this.
So carl Levin and his children are putting on uniforms, shoulding rifles and marching off to war. Oh, my mistake he will stay in Washington and send other people to war while blaming the Republicans.
Just trying to over compensate for Obamas monumentally and incomparably feckless handling of the Ukraine crisis - a crisis that never even would have happened in the first place if Obama had not squandered American military and diplomatic credibility and totally destroyed America’s entire military deterrence posture in the Eastern European region as well as threat of the world.
Obama has erased all of George Bush’s and America’s efforts to stabilize the world after Bill Clinton screw ups destabilized the post Cold War which is a true tragedy for America and the rest of the world.

I agree entirely. Reducing US power and standing has brought us to a situation that has completely spun out of control - all over the world, in so many places that it’s hard to know where to begin enumerating them.
That said, this is a stupid, irresponsible remark for Levin to make. “Act of war” - against whom? Whether it was the Russian sympathizers or the Ukrainians who shot it down, it’s nothing new. They have been at war for months now and we have been ignoring it. This is a meaningless statement that is just for the press, since Barry couldn’t be bothered to break off his fundraising to say more than that it was a “tragedy,” and then get on with the jokes and the glad-handing.
And no matter which side shot down the jet, it was an accident, so to speak, since they were really aiming for their opponent and certainly had no intention of attacking Malaysia. The only thing it does show is that the chaos that has grown since the US abdicated its role has made the world a much more dangerous place, even for innocent and uninvolved bystanders such as the people on the Malaysian Air flight.
And Barry goes on yukking it up...

The Dems believe a shooting war would keep them in power, which may be true.
