A prosecutor plans to charge a western Wisconsin police chief with a misdemeanor for allegedly registering a tea party leader on gay dating, pornography and federal health care websites.

Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger told The Associated Press he plans to charge Town of Campbell Police Chief Tim Kelemen with misdemeanor unlawful use of a computerized communication system Thursday afternoon.

Kelemen would face up to $1,000 in fines and 90 days in jail if convicted, but would still be able to stay on as police chief. Only those with felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions related to domestic violence are precluded from being police officers, according to the state Department of Justice.

Kelemen leads a five-officer department in the burg of about 4,000 people just outside La Crosse. He's been at odds with the La Crosse Tea Party since last fall, when the conservative group began staging protests on a town overpass that stretches across Interstate 90.

Exactly. How can they keep that douchebag as ‘police chief’ after that?

Indeed, this was a premeditated, deliberate attack on a citizen he is sworn to protect. How can he possibly qualify for that role any more?

...gay dating, pornography and federal health care websites.

Illegally assuming an American's I.D. and registering them on commie lib 'RAT websites should be a felony, not a misdemeanor. These websites are for commie 'RATS, not Americans. Mr. "Police Chief" might think this is funny but Americans do not.

I’d say this warrants at least 5 years for the police chief. Maybe the death penalty is more appropriate.

The federal health care websites are the ones that will really get you a communicable disease .

Agreed. For a police chief to engage in partisan politics and even frame someone, he should lose his job.

Read the comments after the article. This police chief has some supporters in the Twin Cities. Probably the same type that would key a car of they did like the bumper sticker and call the action politically protected speech.

This is identity theft. No different than stealing a credit card number. The chief should be fired and his career in law enforcement ended.

Those legislative bodies that enact laws concerning cyber crime are light years behind. I can’t see them ever catching up. Part of the issue, IMO, is because they are not intelligent enough to even keep up let alone get ahead of ways to misuse systems and information available on the net and establish appropriate controls and punishment.

He should get a conviction for identity theft and be banned from the internet for life.

Conservatives, by definition, do not commit identity fraud. Liberal RINOs might, though.
