A Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple is appealing a "re-education" order from the Colorado Civil Rights Commission.
The order requires cake artist Jack Phillips to create wedding cakes for gay couples and to re-educate his staff that the state's Anti-Discrimination Act means artists must endorse all views.
It also requires him to file quarterly compliance reports for two years.
According to Phillips' attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom, the reports must include the number of patrons that Phillips declines to serve, along with the reason.
The order stems from a 2012 incident in which Phillips refused a request from a gay couple to make a cake in honor of their commitment ceremony. Phillips said he told the couple that his faith would not allow him to bake them a wedding cake but that he would create any other baked good that they wished.
The Commission said that Philipps' refusal to make the cake violated the state's public accommodation law that requires businesses to serve customers regardless of their sexual orientation.
Phillips filed an appeal of the Commission's order with the Colorado Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
"Americans should not be forced by the government - or by another citizen - to endorse or promote ideas with which they disagree," Phillips' representative, ADF allied attorney Nicolle Martin, said.
“Any requests for homo cakes should be met with delight, and the cakes should be baked with Duncan Hines mixes and canned frosting from Walmart. Money should be cheerfully refunded if the purchasers are unhappy.”
For frosting, he needs to use the “Dukee flavor.”
“Easy answer to this... lace it with feces. That should be appropriate for a gay wedding.”

True. There is a reason many conservatives opposed the Civil Rights Act, and I’m NOT talking racism. It was the wrong way to solve the problem, and it left us with a country that was no longer free.
This is about property rights. Does this man own his business and does he have a right to determine how his property and assets will be used. Does not matter what religious beliefs one does or does not have.

First of all, there is no PC in the Philippines. There are lots of homosexuals, but if they want to get married, they have to go to some other country. If someone refuses to bake them a cake, or cater to them, they won't be taken to court.
How cumbersome, oppressive and downright vengeful. Geez, our country is just about gone.
Shut down the business, go on welfare, cripple the State.

This is institutionalized fascism, plain and simple, to require him to do the things described. In addition he never “refused to serve gays” - he did however say he would not create a product specifically designed to promote their lifestyle and beliefs with which he did not agree. He doesn’t have a policy of turning gays away at the door - if they ordered a birthday cake he would have made it. A dozen cookies - yes. Etc.
Thank you, yet another example of the hypocrites and their never ending distortions of reality.

It’s tantamount to slavery, forcing people to work when they don’t want to, violating their freedoms and liberty. This is fascist by definition and that’s not hyperbole. This fascism is implemented to placate gays.
