Chicopee pol rails against Patrick's plan to shelter immigrant kids

Gov. Deval Patrick's offer to house up to 1,000 children who crossed the country's southern border illegally in one of two Bay State military bases is drawing heavy fire in one targeted community, where a local leader warned residents will be "up in arms" over the proposal.

"I am totally against it," said Chicopee City Council President George Moreau, whose city is home to Westover Air Base, one of two sites Patrick identified as a possible landing spot for unaccompanied children for as long as four months. Joint Base Cape Cod in Bourne is the other proposed shelter site.

Citing the city's homelessness problem and a stretch of hotels and motels already brimming with people in emergency housing, Moreau said the city is "strained" as is, and noted it has in recent years purchased some of the housing the base had relied upon.

"Where are they getting room up there? Are they to take the base hangars?" Moreau said. "The people in Chicopee are going to be up in arms. Being compassionate, I'd like to help anyone I can. But if you don't have the things to help people with, how are you going to do it? We are overburdened now."

"It's almost like being hit with a double-edged sword. You never know what side they're going to cut you from. ... The governor doesn't give a damn about the area of this state," said Moreau, who is a Republican but said "party affiliation should not be a point of interest" in the debate. "The people of Chicopee are the ones are gong to suffer."

***...one of two sites Patrick identified as a possible landing spot for unaccompanied children for as long as four months.***

We all know four months can easily turn into four years. And within those four years 1000 illegals with nothing to do but wait for amnesty, can easily turn into 2000 or more.

That's the plan.

The Herald's #1 columnist and one of the biggest phonies on the planet, Howie Carr, is primarily responsible for Deval Patrick being the Governor of Ma. I'll listen to anything the Herald says when they show Carr the door.

If Carr didn't relentlessly mock a good Republican FEMALE candidate (Kerry Healy) in the race against Patrick, she would've won and Patrick would be in a soup line somewhere right now. But to Howie Carr, it meant higher ratings at the time to ridicule Healy rather than try to defeat a worm. Don't buy the crap that the Herald or Howie Carr is selling.

Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke, and the surrounding area are already devolving (albeit slowly) into mini-Detroit. Gang violence gets worse every year, so it’s no wonder the last thing the people actually trying to run those areas want is more irresponsible uneducated mouths wandering around with too much time on their hands.

The people need to send their installment of the illegal alien invaders to Deval’s house and let him take care of them.

Carr supported Romney who installed Team Romney in Mass.

Now there is no GOP in the state (not even running
in most areas). And the GOP leader raised RomneyCARE
rates AND supports Obama on the illegals.

On a local radio show, a caller suggested that if Coupe Deval wanted to bring the kids here, then they should be sent to those communities who voted for Hope and Change, like Newton, Wellesley, and Cambridge.
