The families of some of the 10 British victims of flight MH17 angrily accused “Russian gangsters” of killing their loved ones in an “act of war”, as evidence mounted that a missile supplied by Moscow brought down the Malaysia Airlines flight.
Grieving relations also demanded that the airline and the aviation authorities explain why the Boeing 777, with 298 people on board, was allowed to fly over a war zone where three military aircraft had been shot down in the previous four days.
Among the Britons killed in Thursday’s disaster in Ukraine were two undergraduates on their way to Australia, two Newcastle United fans travelling to watch the team play in New Zealand, a United Nations worker and a former RAF technician.
Ukraine said 80 children died, including three babies, together with around 100 experts in HIV/Aids who were on their way to a conference in Melbourne.
President Barack Obama said yesterday that he was certain that MH17 had been shot down by a surface-to-air missile fired by Russian-backed separatists.

This reminds me of Putin’s mouthpiece at the UN, Churkin (whose daughter, by the way, works for RT). At Friday’s UN Security Council meeting, he spoke of the need for a thorough investigation, but then stated that everything is Ukraine’s fault. No acceptance of responsibility, no repentance, and absolutely no shame. It was a truly disgusting performance.

There is not hardly a damn place flying in this globe that is safe. Common decency is to not target civilian aircraft and these damn rotten communists knew that 100's of flights from many countries use this pattern. They knew they were killing civil aircraft at the 32,000 standard flight path. Don't be so dumb. Typical of Russia, they don't give a shi!.

BTW, in March of this year there was an article by one of the very prominent Russian orientalists, Georgy Mirskiy, titled something like “In the history of mankind, there hasn’t been a more deceitful system, than the Russian.” He goes on to detail all the lies and fabrications of the Soviet/Russian government just in his life time, starting with Stalin’s attack on Finland in 1939. I also read those BUK systems pick up the identifier pings all passenger planes have so they don’t shoot them by accident. So I don’t know what to guess on that, they fired anyways “cause it had spies on it” as the rebels claimed or it was planned shoot down to blame on Ukrainians and it backfired on the Ruskies. ??

Or maybe Putin wants the area cleared of all aircraft for an soon to be mounted larger invasion with complete air control. Doubtful the Ukraine Air Force would last long in such an invasion. Evil times.

Though he didn’t shoot the missile himself he ordered it done. This whole Ukrainian business has been orchestrated by him. He and his cohorts who once served the Russian Communist Party are past masters of the fifth column and fomenting unrest in territories the Russian bear has cast it’s hungry eyes at. NOTHING happens in that part of the world without Putin’s say so. NOTHING!!

You can say that again. That same old stuff has been the Russian state’s policy since Ivan the Terrible, at least. During his reign they came up with the idea that Russia was the Third Rome.
Sure it does -- he is punishing the Europeans for sanctions against him.
As a result of this shootdown by surrogates armed and controlled by him he has shut down the entire east-west commercial airline corridor over Ukraine causing havoc in the skies over the remaining corridors, and costing carriers time and money.
