Day 8: IRS still can't find Lerner's hard drive
wnd ^ | July 18, 2014 | Garth Kant

Posted on 07/19/2014 2:33:06 PM PDT by TWhiteBear

The IRS can’t say with certainty what happened to the computer hard drive used by Lois Lerner, or exactly where it is now.. On July 11, Judge Reggie Walton ordered the agency to find out what had happened to the hard drive... Manning said Lerner’s hard drive was then “delivered to the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Electronic Crimes Forensic Laboratory for additional efforts to recover data from the malfunctioning hard drive.. testimony revealed another bizarre turn in the saga: The technician, or, specialist, who tried to recover the data from Lerner’s hard drive on that June day in 2011 may have been blind.

Manning testified, “According to the Specialist, prior to joining the Internal Revenue Service, from 2004 to 2005, formal Microsoft training was completed through Lions World Services for the Blind …”

The testimony didn’t indicate how blind, if blind at all, that person may have been. That specialist also appears to be highly qualified and extensively trained, as revealed by Judge Walton’s order that all the qualifications of those who worked on the hard drive be reported.

The Lions program appears to accept either those who sight-read or those who use Braille, and an IRS web page shows it has worked with Lions since 1967. ... TWB

Does anyone really buy all this crap?

Yes. All of Congress, the Judicial Branch, 98% of Western media, and thus, most Americans...with no end in sight.

I mean :

“I don’t understand why someone with some tech knowledge doesn’t bring this up and investigates it — find the servers!”

They want everyone to keep there eyes on lerners harddrive, instead of the servers where the emails actually are location. Switch and bail.

The first step was to run “Format C:\” which pretty much hides everything, therefore “nothing was recovered”. It was probably all still there, except the drive was physically smashed, which required malice aforethought.

But Lois Lerner sent all these e-mails to SOMEBODY, and not all their hard drives were similarly degraded.

“They are playing with us. Trying to anger us. Trying to spark open revolt.”

I agree totally. The level of absurdity shows that they think their base will best be roused by taunting the enemy.

The title you created: " IRS technician,..who tried to recover .. data from Lerner’s hard drive ..may have been blind. " does not match the title at the linked source and unfortunately has to be changed by one of us volunteer Moderators. The date you filled in the date space is not the date of publication and also has to be changed. To avoid duplication and pulled threads, please just copy and paste the published title, use the date of publication only, fill in the author's space, fill in the source space and use a working link which goes to the article.

Thank you.

No offense but blind means he was an affirmative action hire.... He seems on the young side therefor more pliable. He has the best job he will ever get. Lots of bennies. Handicapped tend to be Obama-voters. He is not going to jeopardize this job.

I am being harsh. He might be playing this 100% honestly.

Are you sure about that? I recall hearing a half-dozen or so other IRS cretins with compromised e-mail.

These criminals see what is working for Lerner, and are using the same "dog-ate-my-e-mails" excuse.

What they fail to say is that the blind guy (if true) would have had a full time handler (yes, a fully paid full time handler). Saw it once before in the government where the government hired (you guessed it) a blind programmer. That was in the days before speech/text and the handler read the programs back to the programmer. Some GS-18 had an orgasm of success noted on his bonus papers I sure.

I agree with the posts that say the server(s) are the place to go to, look at, find. My understanding is that a POP3 could be the system used, but then Mz. Lerner could not access her emails from another computer.
There is some ambiguity in the OP about the condition of the hard drive the blind person was given. Could it be played or was it(or what appeared to be ‘it’) smashed beyond repaid?
The Federal Magistrate appointed by Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan has some background in IT and disclosure. And is due to report Aug. 10/11.
And the discussion has opened up new realms of speculation for me. My mechanic, Stock Exchange regulators, FAA radar operators, Xray techs, Voting Judges and inspectors,Fingerprint techs...all.., all of them could be blind. This would explain so many mysteries.
Who’da thunk??

By their own admission, they don't even have a way to verify that the hard drive they gave him was the same one that came out of her computer.

You open revolt like it's a bad thing. I no longer have a moral problem with a Final Solution to the Leftist Treason.

Why not use eugenic cleansing? Planned Parenthood is good with it. Notice that PP has it's offices and clinics in the ghettos. I'm willing to wager it's deliberate.

The issue I haven’t seen raised is this: When Lerner’s hard drive crashed, all the info would have been restored from back-ups onto the newly-installed replacement hard drive so she could continue her work without the huge inconvenience of having to start over from scratch. Why not subpoena all the records regarding the hard drive replacement and get testimony from the computer techs that actually did the work.

Better yet, throw Lerner in jail for contempt until such a time as the IRS produces all the materials and information congress needs.

Scooter Libby must be hella pissed about the disparity.

From the linked article: Manning said Lerner’s hard drive was then “delivered to the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Electronic Crimes Forensic Laboratory for additional efforts to recover data from the malfunctioning hard drive.”

Let me see if I understand this correctly.

The claim is being made that taxpayers are supporting an organization which is called "the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Electronic Crimes Forensic Laboratory"
... and we are being asked to believe that such organization actually performed a forensic analysis on Lerner's hard drive,
... and that the laboratory personnel did so
... WITHOUT RECORDING THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE DRIVE!

This is the most NON-credible claim I can imagine being made about an organization with "Laboratory" in its name. I see more subpoenas heading the way of the IRS.

“...straw man.”

Obvious to you, Coloradan, and to me as well. The IRS uses Microsoft Outlook servers. It would take some explaining to claim they didn’t use the typical raid arrays. In fact I recall some years back the Network Appliance had what was one of probably many contracts to supply network storage arrays to the IRS. I assure you that you could, and I did, reach into a cabinet and, after loosening a screw, pull a disk out of a cabinet being used by some remote clients, and the clients would never know.

However they configured backups, Microsoft would be warning operators every time they booted the server(s) that backup was not in use, or configured, or there was no connection, and all those messages are logged, on multiple systems. Operators would have to explain to managers, who would receive mail messages with warnings, what they had done to respond to the warning, and what had cause the failure. Those servers have utilities designed into them to assure no loss of data, even if a server farm is caught in a Tsunami, it will almost always have at least on remote backup.

Since the disk failure is claimed to have been for selected users, which is next to impossible, the Outlook server was still operating, and there would have been hundreds or thousands of clients affected. If the storage system was local, which is highly unlikely, all sorts of error messages explain the sequence of errors leading up to complete failure. People with standard desktop or laptop systems don’t take the measures to monitor their rotating disks that server vendors do, for good reasons. Most disk drives that fail, surprising me, from the electronics in the drive. The rotating disks are amazingly robust, with 100,000 to a million hours mbtp (mean time between failures), more than most people will ever care about. Thus a drive failure, electronics, can, for a price, be addressed by removing the platters in a clean room and reading the data with working electronics. But that is probably just whatever talking points the White House has decided to feed the press to cover up its crimes.

Remember, computers have non-rotating physical memory, usually DRAM, and all transactions (Outlook uses a database for storing messages) are logged. Since the system was still operating, again, because no one else has been claimed to have been affected, every transaction is logged, and the pending transactions would most all be in physical memory. Since other disks were operating, those transactions still exist in DRAM, and, in case of a crash, there are milliseconds during which physical memory (DRAM) is written to rotating memory. That is what happens when there is a crash, a “machine check”. The power supplies have enough energy in their magnetic fields to allow DRAM to be written to a dump file.

Our government is being controlled by liars who know government employees are afraid, not only of losing the support upon which their families depend, but of prosecution. They depend upon the ignorance, not stupidity, because we all have different expertise. The media are a wall of protection. If anyone of either party, they are both complicit, were to subpoena a Microsoft Outlook or database expert they would get a truth they are obviously afraid to hear, since he or she would expose the perfidy of both parties. But that will never happen.

This weekend to hear the nonsense about the new fears of MANPAD attacks, as apparently used on the Malaysian airliner when our government refused to interview the hundreds of eyewitnesses on Long Island who saw the SAM ascend to Flight 800. Clinton’s FAA chief concocted, with the involvement of the FBI and CIA, a complete fiction, which to this day has never resulted in changes in the Boeing fuel tanks.

We have many who still talk about our Constitution, but we are currently “ruled” by people who count on your ignorance. Boeing was not asked to testify by the Bill Clinton administration as they created a fog of misdirection around the Flight 800 downing. Clinton had an election to win in a few months, and couldn’t be seen to be in the position Reagan found himself in after the Muslim Brotherhood killed over 200 of our solders in Lebanon. Obama will not let any investigation proceed which could hinder his plans for the last two years of his reign. He has more than the goods on most Republicans, but that is another story much explored here at Free Republic.

We absolutely know that Windows Outlook servers have never lost data without extensive records, and the failure of a single disk in a raid array, with lots qualifiers, could not lose just the data associated with a single account, and would still have archived a record of all the transactions, though perhaps not the messages, unless there was a remote archive. It would be hard to find, outside of some three letter agencies, any database in the US government that does not have a remote physical archive (backup). The loss of a singe disk in most raid arrays means that, while it may take a few hours, a fresh disk can be inserted and the missing data can be entirely reconstructed.

The reason three letter agencies may or may not use remote archives is simply the need to protect these archives. They are probably deep in the basements of the buildings housing the primary servers, but those agencies, if they weren’t all reporting to the man whose father was an alien, and whose father did “owe allegiance to a foreign sovereignty”, England, to which he, Barry, was born a natural born subject, could reconstruct those presumably lost records, all of which probably live today in NSA archives. Mail is transmitted via TCP/IP. I might not be current, but most or all Class V switches and those used in Wireless networking infrastructure, have ports, by laws existing for over twenty years, providing the government access to all the packets. That is an enormous amount of data, and too much to store for very long, but they have likely saved connection records.

Can the media be trusted to report anything that might arouse the ire of our naturalized executive? Lois Lerner is obviously a crook, but so are all those representatives who know of felonies that they dare not report. Eric Holder is part of the palace guard, as is our Wahhabi CIA chief, Brennan, Hagel, John Podesta, Jarrett, and many of the rest. Only the house presumably has control of the purse strings, but they don’t use it. We will have a large price to pay if we survive as some kind of republic, and it will sadly almost certainly involve more that the additional ten trillion dollars we owe our debtors, who, more and more, are our own domestic bondholders.

Yeah...they probably hired some Greeks from Zakynthos.

Even by the extravagant standards of Greek corruption, the scam uncovered by Stelios Bozikis is so brazen that it is hard to credit.

Nearly 600 people on the Ionian island of Zakynthos - of which Mr Bozikis was recently elected mayor - managed to have themselves falsely declared blind, entitling them to fat monthly cheques from the state.

They included taxi drivers, shopkeepers and restaurant owners, farmers tending the island's patchwork of vineyards and olive groves, and a few amateur hunters, whose purported disability did not stop them from spending their weekends shooting rabbits and birds in the rugged mountains of the interior.

Other "blind" locals have been seen cheerfully playing cards and backgammon in the tavernas and bars of the island. "Out of 650 registered blind people on the island, we estimate that at least 600 are fraudulent claims," the mayor told The Sunday Telegraph in his office overlooking the boats crowding the port of Zakynthos Town, the main settlement.

That represents nearly two per cent of the island's population of 35,000 - nearly 10 times the average rate of blindness in the rest of Europe, according to the World Health Organisation.

A Republican entered a restaurant in a wheelchair one afternoon and asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. He looked across the restaurant and asked, “Is that Jesus sitting over there?”

man crutches
Another patron, a Democrat, came into the restaurant on crutches...

The waitress nodded “yes,” so the Republican requested that she give Jesus a cup of coffee, on him.

The next patron to come in was a Libertarian with a hunched back. He shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down and asked the waitress for a cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, “Is that Jesus over there?”

The waitress nodded, so the Libertarian asked her to take Jesus a cup of hot tea. “My treat,” he said.

Another patron, a Democrat, came into the restaurant on crutches. He hobbled over to a booth, sat down and asked for a cold beer. He, too, looked across the restaurant and asked, “Isn’t that God’s boy over there?”

The waitress nodded, so the Democrat directed her to give Jesus a cold beer. “On my bill,” he said.

As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Republican, touched him and said, “For your kindness, you are healed.” The Republican felt the strength surge back into his legs, got up, and danced a jig out the door.

Jesus passed by the Libertarian, touched him and said, “For your kindness, you are healed.” The Libertarian felt his back straightening up and he raised his hands, praised the Lord, and did a series of back flips out the door.

Then Jesus walked towards the Democrat, just smiling.

The horrified Democrat jumped to his feet and screamed, “Don’t touch me! I just started collecting my disability!”
