DES MOINES, Iowa–Staci Appel, the Democratic nominee for Iowa’s Third Congressional District, wouldn’t say whether some of the tens of thousands of Central American children dumped at the U.S. border should at some point be able to come to Iowa.
Appel expressed empathy for the children involved but said the federal authorities first need to investigate the circumstances of the children. She said, “I’m thinking as a mom it’s terrifying for some of the children to be there and be alone.” But she added, “We have to work through the processes, the procedures of how it works to find out who they are and why they’re here.”

It’s surprising that a Democrat like Staci Appel would be in a quandary over whose interests to support — those of her constituents or those of a group whose interests are harmful to those of her constituents.
Democrats ALWAYS support groups whose interests are harmful to those of their constituents — from teachers unions whose policies destroy their children’s educations to municipal unions whose high salaries raise their constituents’ taxes, and on and on.
Allowing a flood of illegal immigrant children, including gang members and those with infectious diseases, into her quiet Iowa district in order to serve the interests of the Democrats’ Hispanic voting block should be a no-brainer for Ms. Appel. Of course, as a Democrat, she should support allowing them in. If she starts worrying about the welfare of her constituents, she’ll never get anywhere in the party of Obama.
The District she is running in is safe Republican. She has to lie about her intentions to have a chance.
She will face David Young, staffer to Sen. Chuck Grassley.
What a confused bunch of b.s. Won't play well in Iowa.
