Lois Lerner was apparently patient zero of deadly computer viruses within the United States government as it has been learned that some of her former colleagues at the Federal Election Commission also mysteriously lost their computer hard drives. Of course, they had to be destroyed as well.
The evidence must be pretty damning to have involved what appears pretty clearly to be an interdepartmental cover up.
Two separate federal courts are now involved demanding an explanation from the IRS about how they could have destroyed all of the pertinent records in the case due to separate cases filed by Judicial Watch and True the Vote.
Now in a bi-partisan vote, the House of Representatives has signaled that they have had enough, going on a cutting frenzy on the IRS' enforcement budget.
Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) started the action by authoring a $353 million cut saying, "The use of a government agency to harass, target, intimidate and threaten lawful, honest citizens was the worst form of authoritarianism." Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., followed up with an amendment to cut an additional $788 million, all on top of the $72 million cut from last year's $5 billion enforcement budget in the underlying bill. The overall cuts to the IRS's enforcement budget when the smoke cleared — $1.2 billion or 25 percent, all on a voice vote.
The IRS abuse of power has gotten so politically toxic that no Democrat wanted to be on the record voting to defend them, allowing them to go forward without a recorded objection.
The news is even worse for Lerner personally, whose pension would be defunded under the House passed legislation so long as she remains in contempt of Congress.
And with the IRS abuse extending well beyond Lois Lerner's reach to other divisions within the Agency, the House also voted to stop career employees at the rogue Agency from receiving merit bonuses this year.
This last act will likely create a firestorm of whistleblowers coming forward to tell the truth about the Agency's abuse of power and the political motivations behind it, as angry civil servants react to getting hit in the pocketbook due to the malfeasance of others.
We also know in a separate federal court room earlier this month, the IRS is being brought to heel in a case of political targeting unrelated to conservative groups, but instead focusing upon a pro-Israel group that was also abused for their political beliefs.
Yet, even as the IRS house of cards collapses, the obvious question is how far up the chain of command at the White House did this scandal go?
We know that IRS officials had hundreds of meetings with the White House during this time period, and we know that then press secretary Jay Carney admitted that there was at least one White House meeting about the targeting of conservative groups prior to Lois Lerner's initial revelation to the public.
With the across the government lengths that have been taken to cover up this abuse of power only the most naïve would not ask who they were trying to protect?
It should be an interesting few months.

I don’t know, but I sure hope so.
It’s nonsense.
Key words: “so long as she remains in contempt of Congress.”
When this mess is all wrapped up, she’ll be “no longer in contempt” and all her precious gold-plated pension will be returned, probably with some kind of bonus.
Not only that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if every single IRS employee gets put on the “bonus list.” Something like 90% of them already are.
The House doesn’t get to make such decisions on their own. What they’ve voted on is a PROPOSAL. Doesn’t mean anything coming from the Boehner gang.
The obvious answer is all the way to the top. The only person served by the soiliation of evidence at the IRS, EPA and FEC is Barack Obama. A criminal convcition can be sustained on CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE. there is enough of same to convict Obama, or at least drive him from office, if all the Rs would get on Palin's page. Direct evidence is not required.
We can hope but I am sure the insane man in the senate will find a way to block it
If you put the soldiers in prison, they will give up the Capos. If you imprison the Capos, they will give up the Don.
There should be an across the board 20% pay cut on all salaries greater than, say, $80k.
Until the truth is learned, or until the national debt is paid off, whichever comes first.

"High crimes and misdemeanors", like "good behavior" for judges, was deliberately left vague by the Founding Fathers. They understood that no number of laws or procedures could define or prevent all cases of the calamitous abuse of power, so wrote in a political safeguard.

Remember, the first conspirator to turn states evidence gets the best plea deal and most of the rest go to jail.

If so, the evidence must be damning enough for her to serve jail time and name other co-conspirators all the way up to the WH. I’m sure 0 has promised a severance package that will cover her pension if she shuts her mouth.
Exactly right and misdemeanor is defined loosely as poor judgement or any unacceptable behavior including incompetence. Obama easily qualifies for impeachment just on the Bergdahl case alone let alone his erasure of the southern border, Fast and Furious, unacceptably lavish vacations, Cash for Clunkers, Benghazi, IRS targeting. Iraq abandonment, - the list is incomprehensibly long - better play the race card ( which is impeachable too)

Back in the day when even criminals were more honorable, if people in the mob had to go “upstate/downstate” (depending on state), you shut up, did your time, your family would be taken care of while you were “away”. It was like “jail insurance”. This is somewhat similar to what the politicians do now, except with favors, speaking engagements, no-show “consulting contracts”, etc.
See now? How difficult was that. Feel better? WE DON'T!
Hey Bonehead Boehner, IMPEACH THAT BASTARD IN THE OVAL OFFICE!
I’m going to go way out on the limb here and predict that not only will Lerner’s pension never be defunded, but that she will never see the inside of a jail cell either.
Why not? Because these things depend on three things:
1. Republicans winning the Senate in 2014 (and keeping the House)
2. Republicans winning the Presidency in 2016
3. Republicans having the balls to go after her.
#1 and 2, may come to pass. Who is optimistic about #3?
