He also said that the National Guard was not equipped to aid immigrants crossing the Rio Grande.
I want the NG to stop them. Not aid them.
soetoro will nix it.
I’m not sure what they are supposed to do with all the people that are crossing
and walking up to the officials and turning themselves in. Once the cross the middle
of the Rio Grande they are in the US/state of Texas.
Allowing them to come forward and surrender poses many problems. Maybe a surrender
shouldn’t be allowed but rather take them back to the banks of the Rio Grande and cross them back over. Maybe give them a MRE meal and papers,
tell them to fill out the paperwork, submit, wait your turn and goodbye.
What is your thoughts on what should be done with them once they are on US soil?
“I think people are going to be disappointed. Perry himself has said illegals will need to be handed over to the feds.”
Then they’ll just be settled in here to be permanent drains on society.
Long night drinkin’ again?
Apparently it is necessary to restate my post:
“Whered you get that info? Obviously not from reading the Constitution” and certainly not in Article Four, Section 4, Clause 2.
Whole lot of “wishful personal interpretation” goin on.
In our conservative endeavor to save our dear America, it is important we not lower our discourse to that of misdirection the socialist saboteurs practice and adhere to what our Founding Fathers actually intended in the Constitution they wrote.
They are criminals so it is not a “civil matter”.
Thanks for the ping.
He is not allowed to let them shoot..You might go to Obummer for that permission. Good luck
Gov Brewer needs to follow suit and call up her state’s NG.
The National Guard will primarily be patrolling rural areas for cartel, gang, and terrorist activity. In previous operations, we have driven them back across the border. They don’t want to get caught.
As for the illegals who are surrending themselves to BP, I think tent cities similar to Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s tent prison camps might work as temporary housing until they can be deported. They should go no farther into the U.S. They should not be released with a NTA and allowed to hop on a Greyhound bus to join family elsewhere in the U.S.
Once they realize that their destiny is a tent city with no opportunities to work for pay, create a home, or purchase goods and services, they’ll go home on their own or stop coming here illegally. Provisions and medical care in those tent cities should be minimal. Treat medical emergencies, immunize everyone, and send them home
The older I get the dumber my spelling gets LOL
It just amazes me that Perry is about the only one doing anything about the border, and he catches hell here on a daily basis as if he created the problem on the border.
If the time comes, we won’t be asking for permission.
Sadly all will be handed over to ICE/BP/Feds and will be turned loose.
Good men and women risk their lives on the border everyday with their hands tied by the Feds.
The problem lies in Washington.
Our system IS broken.
If he wants them to be meaningful and not a political showcase.....
He needs to deputize them and give them arrest, detain and full engage authority....Make them a temporary part of the Texas Rangers....
The border is an international one and our governor should be getting support from Obummer...and the Congress.
Fat chance of that.
If we can’t immediately deport the illegals..and the feds won’t..they will disappear.
It is the job of our federal government to protect our borders..and they won’t do it.
Agreed. It's much more complicated than most people think.
I wonder if you can train alligators to stay on the U.S. side of the river? ;-)
Cut off all the benefits and jobs, deport on contact and most of them will probably leave.
While Texans are happy to fight, this is not ours to fight alone.
Yall want a fence? Pony up some cash and get yer happy butts down here to help us build it maintain it and patrol it.
Please refer me to the law that allows the Texas governor to do that.
And truth is a fence will never work.
Especially along the Rio Grande, 99% of Tx is private land and you just cant have the fed taking over your land to build a fence that cuts your cattle off from the river.
The problem lies in Washington and in Mexico city.
Mexico is a rich country and there is no reason for the poverty there other than corruption.
Now we have given rise to the drug cartels, that increases the flight.
We encourage it in DC, hand out EBT cards to the illegal refugees and bitch that Tx aint doing enough to stop the problem.
Bust the cartels and Mexico citys balls and this crap will stop
When I was a child in the 60’s we had Mexican migrants all the way into NE Ohio.
It was not an issue.
They come, they pick tomatoes they don’t bother anyone and they go home in autumn.
Now they stay and get on the Dem taxpayer funded tit.
And all of a sudden President Obama has a news conference, ostensibly getting tough with Putin RE the Ukraine
4.3 Military and Police Powers
The Texas Constitution names the Governor the commander-in-chief of the Texas National Guard when the state's units have not been placed under the command of the U.S. President. (Article II of the U.S. Constitution names the President commander-in-chief of the state national guards when they are mobilized for national service.) The Adjutant General, whom the Governor appoints, heads Texas Guard units. Though Texas Guard units can be dispatched to respond to situations such as civil unrest, they are more commonly used to aid in natural disasters or other forms of emergency relief in which local emergency services need additional resources.
Though most law enforcement and police investigation responsibilities rest in the hands of city and county governments, the Governor also has limited police powers. The Governor (with Senate approval) appoints the members of the Public Safety Commission, which directs the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Governor can also assume command of the Texas Rangers (a division of the DPS) under some circumstances, although this is a rare event.
The feds are supposed to guard an international border...Talk to the feds.
But he just punted to the UN.
Tough guy. LOL
Start with a fence, and everything else you mentioned....If a fence redirects the traffic, makes it easier to control with an HONEST effort to do so which is not the case in America today.....
Thank you for stating the issue.
Perry has long been an advocate for stronger 10th amendment rights.
The Feds tie our hands.
Perry and every governor is fighting with at least one hand tied behind his back, and hobbled to boot!
When the South lost in 1865 it was not only slavery of blacks that was ended but the concept of states’ rights;since then the Washington-based tyrants have taken over every aspect of life.
The totally unjustified 1898 war against Spain was just a grab for territory ;and then it was used to justify forming a larger permanent standing Army ,and placing the state Guard firmly under the federal government’s control.
The truth is that the original concept of each state being free to operate in its own unique manner within the broad guidelines of the Constitution has been replaced by the reality of the states becoming just administrative districts forced to carry out onerous regulations imposed by Washington elites.
The control freaks and tyrants cannot abide the idea of all the general populace not following in lockstep.
Don’t forget, each Sheriff in each county can deputize anyone they like...this could be coordinated through the governor’s office....
so what’s the deal. The Texas guard will stop the illegals and turn them over to ICE, who will spread them out across the country so no one can find them?
Indeed, the problem lies at the federal level.
Perry may be criticized for tilting at wind mills in that sort of environment but, he charges at it again and again, attempting to wake up the general public.
I will not fault the man for sounding the alarm.
That seems to be what is happening.
Thank you, Jane.
Then whats the point of spending 12 million per week or month to “shore” up the border? Just tear down all existing fences and disband the border guard.
Leave bus ticket and water vending machines there.
I love the way the Libs have altered the meaning of “diversity”.
They describe it as some sort of melting together a “unity”
By its very meaning in means Different, Set from the others, apart...
Divide and conquer buddy, Divide and conquer...
That is what they are masters of.
“He is not allowed to let them shoot..”
So what do the do when they are fired upon? Waive a white diaper? I guess though, it’s not any different that Afghanistan, right?
Let’s not minimize the importance of this move. The presence of the National Guard can give state and local law enforcement officials more freedom to prevent crossings of the Rio Grande, as well as giving some relief to border patrol.
Consider it a protest like Jimrob and others are doing, to raise awareness.
It is of value even if it will not actually send one illegal back presently.
Well yes it is a deterrent to the real bad actors.
Real baddies do not want to get caught in this net.
Saw some ahole the other day that was so dumb and illiterate he handed over a warrant to Tx authority’s to demonstrate his bonefides LOL
He was promptly handed to ICE will prolly be prosecuted and deported.
Still, we have this illegal immigration problem, I can not get my own family here!
Our System IS Broken!
I hope they will be armed to the hilt.
I’m not so sure he would be prosecuted. Didn’t Obama recently free something like 60,000 from our prisons who were convicted of everything from tax fraud, ID theft to rape and murder??
What is wrong with a militarization of the border?
I could see after we have a huge working fence, it might not be necesary...but until then - roll tanks.
