WASHINGTON President Obama, declaring himself on the right side of history, called on Congress on Monday to ban job discrimination against gay and lesbian Americans as he signed an executive order doing so for workers of federal contractors.
In a ceremony at the White House, Mr. Obama noted that in much of the country, companies can fire employees based on their sexual orientation. Thats wrong, he said to an audience of supporters. Were here to do what we can to make it right to bend that arc of justice just a little bit in a better direction.

The federal government already prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation for its own work force, but the order Mr. Obama signed on Monday would extend that to companies that do work for the federal government. It also explicitly protects for the first time federal workers based not just on sexual orientation but also gender identity, meaning transgender employees.

Let me get this straight (hey! I made a joke!)... The White House (isn’t the term itself - ‘White’ - racist, by the way? You know, lily-white versus black magic, etc...) wants laws to ‘protect’ a minuscule minority that already is adequately protected by existing legislation?
What I want is laws protecting the ‘other’ 97% from being forced to embrace and endorse this aberrant behavior.
Didn’t know “queer” was a choice on a job application. Or maybe they are worried that coming into work looking absolutely “fabulous” could be a detriment.
Homosexual men are, statistically, higher paid than straight men.
This is a control issue.
And here’s another question...
How are we supposed to know if a particular candidate is homosexual in the first place?
Funny, I think anyone should be able to discriminate for whatever reason they wish.
I hope this homo thing will finally put that non-discrimination mythos to rest.
I’m 51 years old and I’ve been working since I was 13, I’ve have had countless different jobs, everything from newspaper delivery boy to lawyer. Just name a job I’ve done it, and I can’t recall one of those jobs ever asking me what my sexual preference was. But of course leave it to liberals to imagine that they do.

Nope, last week it was fundraisers, this week it’s gay rights. He really has his finger on the important issues.
Preferential treatment is the liberal's idea of equality or non-bias.

It will be the latter. After the ADA we managers were given backdoor instructions to find ANY reason NOT to hire disabled, since upper management knew we would never get rid of them.
They hired a few token disabled but generally the ADA was the biggest anti-disabled piece of... legislation ever.
Merely an example of the $HIT that can be sold to the American Public... and they BOUGHT it TWICE.
This seems a red herring to me! The facts are Homo’s do better per capita financially than single men, or married couples. Some stereotypes are true, homo men are free to pursue financial security more directly because they generally have fewer obstacles in business because they have fewer family responsibilities. If they are a couple, they generally are two major bread winners. There is a reason why homo couples dominate home rehab tv shows.
Also I am not using homo as a pejorative, I’m just to lazy to type homosexual more than once!

Prediction .... future applications for federal contracts will require information as to how many homosexuals, transsexuals, etc ... are currently employed. Obama sure does pay close attention to matters involving gays ... gee ... I wonder why .
So just say you’re Bisexual, but you just happen to be married to a member of the opposite sex.

Kinda shows you where our President’s priorities are.
He finds lots of time for fund raisers and even prioritizes the release of Gitmo Taliban prisoners ( to Qatar and now Uruguay ) in exchange for deserters like Bowe Bergdahl, but cannot find time to CALL the President of Mexico to DEMAND the release of our marine who is rotting in their jail for simply making a wrong turn at the border.

Really. Is there a big anti-gay hiring out there??? I seriously doubt it. What this is really about is forcing companies to hire the freaks that chop up their bodies and take hormones.

If this becomes law it won't matter. Your whole work force is now gay. Don't believe me? Try to terminate some one and you will discover that they are gay. They've just been in the closet until now but you've forced their hand.

It is called, “Hire at will, fire at will.” Most companies I worked for did it. They hire you and let you go when the job is done or when they don’t want you anymore. No excuse needed to let you go.
Can you get fired if on the first day you say, “oops, maybe not after all”?
How about job bias agaisnt heretosexuals? I’m sure if I said that homosexuality wS wrong at my place of employment that I would be promptly fired.

There may be a sudden rise in "accidental" death among workers. When it comes to their livelihood folks can become very inventive.
Employees “accidentally” dyeing on the job is to be avoided at all cost. You do not want OSHA anywhere on your company’s premises. Your records and practices will be under a Federal microscope. They will find something and at the very least there will be fines and at very worst someone is going to jail in a federal prison for negligence, manslauter or records violations. And the Feds will be there until they uncover your “crimes”.
Only in the eyes of the Democrat-Socialist Party -- this is a top priority for these boys and girls.
