Agreed. Better late than never, but it would be nice to see conservative pols actually making these decisions and standing by them early in the process, like a real leader would. Window dressing, I presume, in this instance.

Rick Perry requests deployment of 1,000 guardsmen to U.S. border
Republican Gov. Rick Perry on Monday requested the immediate deployment of as
many as 1,000 service members from the Texas National Guard to assist with security at
the U.S.-Mexico border.
The service members, from both the Texas National Guard and State Guard, will mobilize
throughout the next 30 days to carry out “Operation Strong Safety” along the border region.
The guardsmen will work alongside law enforcement officials to ensure the safety of all
Texans, who have already invested half a billion dollars to border security, Perry said.
They will also help combat Mexican drug cartels and deter other individuals from
entering the United States.

The other red states should send $$$ to TX to keep our NG on this border. Other border states should join and do this too. Individual patriots in this country will send $$$ if we have to. This cr## must stop.

Texas should require its citizens to send all their Federal tax payments to a state-level clearing house. After deducting the cost of border security as well as several billions in other un-funded mandates, send a bill for the remainder owed to Texas by FedGov.
I have been barking the same tune— can’t Perry contract with other states to help foot the bill for more permanent force protection until hell freezes over?
