President Obama said Monday that as a Washington, D.C., resident he supported statehood for the District of Columbia’s 650,000 inhabitants.

"I'm in D.C., so I'm for it," Obama said Monday at a town-hall event to promote his "My Brother's Keeper" program.

There is no Constitution.
There is no Law.
There is no Congress.
There is ONLY the cryptoMoslem Tyrant and his EXEMPT puppets.

If people want representation they should move out of DC or STFU.

Executive order.

We’re sending 47 million to terrorists in Gaza to attack our supposed friend in the region.

You think laws matter?

Cannot be a state unless there is a Constitutional amendment.

You are assuming the Obungler intends to obey the laws. You might be assuming too much. He might just issue an executive order, making DC a state, and yes, it would mean more rats in congress.

If Obama could make DC a state, he would have done so by now.

Please, enough of this.

I don’t know why the hell anyone would want that sewer to become a state unless they are planning to move the nation’s capitol to somewhere in the center of the U.S.

Nope. With the 6 californias and the state of d.c. I think that would be the 57 he talked about earlier. They’re probably located along the gulf coast too. You know, like Charleston, S.C. and Jacksonville, Fl. Top of the class huh? Or at least graduated. Maybe.

Comprehensive number-of-states reform. Because our number-of-states-system is obviously broken.

if you like what he did for health care, wait until you get a look at his 213 state country. I hear Shasha and Malia are beautiful in the fall when the leaves turn colors.

I’ve heard that the boundaries of the District of Columbia can be changed without constitutional amendment. Some have talked of making a smaller DC, consisting only of the Capitol, White House , and National Mall. And such an area would not have any permanent residents.

However if they ever really did this, it would then make sense to give the remainder of DC back to Maryland and be part of that state. Problem solved without adding 2 new permanent Democrat senators. People in DC would then have congressional representation from being part of Maryland.

Yep. That's the solution right there. Carve out a small federal district, and give the rest back to Maryland (sorry, Maryland).

I believe our side should propose an alternative, one that embraces common sense. Add the population of DC to Maryland for apportionment, and allow DC residents to vote for Representatives and Senators that are part of the Maryland delegation.

Give the whole thing to Maryland and give them 20 acres out in some field in Kansas. Do not allow anyone other then the White house to reside there. It would be centrally located.

The government has a precedent for that in the return of cross-Potomac DC land to Virginia. Maryland is already true-blue, and it has experience with poor urban areas with Baltimore and PG County.

You are correct. In the 1830s....because of slavery issues...Alexandria and Arlington were both worked out to return to Virginia, with no Constitutional changes.

If you ever go up and walk around the district...everything across the river (Anacostia)could easily fold up and be part of Maryland. The western side (Georgetown) is also easily folded up into Maryland. If you exit the White House and go 500 feet north...you could also refer to this property as non-DC.

The problem I see with this is that DC political figures have spent years building up their special interest groups. To suddenly say that as a major urban area...you are now the number one city of Maryland, and contend with the governor of Maryland and the State Legislature of Maryland, it’s a pretty negative situation.

The pull on this idea is that transportation-wise...both Virginia and Maryland get dragged into any discussion or debate over METRO. The DC guys can’t get anything done, unless both states participate and agree on the changes.

The people there do NOT want PR to become a US State. They would then have to pay income taxes to the US. As a Territory, they are considered US citizens; but they are not burdened with all the BS.

Just give the city back to the state of Maryland where it came from in the first place. The city of Washington would get one member in the House, and be represented in the Senate along with other citizens of Maryland.
