President Obama said Monday that as a Washington, D.C., resident he supported statehood for the District of Columbia’s 650,000 inhabitants.
"I'm in D.C., so I'm for it," Obama said Monday at a town-hall event to promote his "My Brother's Keeper" program.

You are assuming the Obungler intends to obey the laws. You might be assuming too much. He might just issue an executive order, making DC a state, and yes, it would mean more rats in congress.

Nope. With the 6 californias and the state of d.c. I think that would be the 57 he talked about earlier. They’re probably located along the gulf coast too. You know, like Charleston, S.C. and Jacksonville, Fl. Top of the class huh? Or at least graduated. Maybe.

I’ve heard that the boundaries of the District of Columbia can be changed without constitutional amendment. Some have talked of making a smaller DC, consisting only of the Capitol, White House , and National Mall. And such an area would not have any permanent residents.
However if they ever really did this, it would then make sense to give the remainder of DC back to Maryland and be part of that state. Problem solved without adding 2 new permanent Democrat senators. People in DC would then have congressional representation from being part of Maryland.
