At a military funeral this weekend in West Palm Beach, Florida, a couple of possibly retired Marines confronted a man dressed in a U.S. Army dress uniform. At first the conversation, posted on the Facebook page U.S Army W.T.F! moments, is cordial, then the Marines started to get suspicious of the alleged “sergeant major.”

During the conversation, the Marines catch him in one too many lies about everything from violating uniform code to wearing the wrong ribbons and medals. The man also called himself a sergeant major, a military policeman, and a special forces operator.

He also claims to have won a Bronze Star with a “V” for valor for saving one of his men from killing himself. Well according to Rare, it got a little heated:

“Did one of the “confronters” say that he was “pretty sure that was a Philippines combat ribbon”, and the imposter tried to defend it?”

Surprised he didn’t have an Iron Cross...what a weirdo. Is this to pick up girls? A friend’s daughter is dating a guy who said he was discharged but the Army misplaced his discharge papers; he is a puny longhair who would have never gotten through boot camp. He doesn’t even bother with a fake uniform...

Stealing valor should still be a crime

I agree.

That's another one that the SCOTUS got wrong.

Uniforms, medals, awards, and other military honors are endorsements of a person's status and qualifications as bestowed by the U.S. Government.

Falsifying any of those items is falsifying that U.S. Government endorsement.

I had an experience (on a much smaller scale), where a phony wannabe “former Police Chief” tried to sell me his bullsh*t. I am a police officer, and I could tell he knew nothing. I asked him where he went to the Academy, he stammered and said he didn’t, and it went downhill from there LOL.

When is someone going to confront the schmuck in the white hut for impersonating a president or even an American?

Because of my physical conditioning, haircut, and where I live I’m often asked if I’m in the military or offered a military discount. I always politely decline, always. I have not served and I believe it would be a tremendous insult to those who have and are to pretend otherwise. I stay in shape for me, and I admit the haircut is due to laziness. Very short hair is virtually no maintenance. I have friends and family that are serving and I would never insult them like this {expletive} is.

I'm sure if given enough time he would have claimed to be "Secret Agent Orange", because it worked so well for Eddie.

I never served but, he doesn’t look right.

Medals look goofy to me.

I have a friend who passed away 8 years ago.

We knew he had PTSD and was counseling guys coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unfortunately the monsters in his head took him.

I went to his house to help his father gather his belongings.

I opened a locked chest and inside were all these citations, medals and ribbons. There were also these pieces of paper that were computer generated with his name and that of other men received these awards.

He was in Vietnam and a jumper. I have no idea what that means.

His Dad insisted I take them, as he knew I would care for them.

I couldn’t. I am not man enough to hold even have held them.

I convinced his Dad after a few days that only he was qualified to possess them.

I guess it hurt him I wouldn’t take them but, I couldn’t.

At his remembrance, at the VA, other men knew about them but, they couldn’t believe he he killed the voices in his head.

His psychologist was white with shock and could barely speak a few words before his knees buckled.

The guys he helped couldn’t say enough about him and the bond they shared through mutual experiences and struggles.

No one should ever fraudulently wear a uniform and medals, then attempt to pass themselves off as valorous.

Hopefully these calling thus fraud out, he will never go to another man’s funeral and mar such a somber occasion.

I’m the exact opposite.
Hair down to my beltline.
Facial hair.
But I served on an amphib carrier for four years.

Thank you for your service. I used to know an ex Marine that didn’t look anything like a Marine. Long pony tail, tattoos well beyond what regs would allow. He did stay clean shaven and in top physical shape (we trained at the same gym). Imposing “scary” looking dude from across the room. In person, one of the nicest guys you’d ever want to meet.

Is this fake, fraud, identified as Robert ‘Bobbie’ Bowen impersonating a real Army Sgt. Major?

Look at this link:

At a military funeral this weekend in Florida, a couple of Marines confronted a man dressed in a U.S. Army dress uniform.

The back-and-forth, in West Palm Beach on Sunday, started off well enough, with polite questions about his medals and ribbons. Then the Marines started to get very suspicious of the self-proclaimed “sergeant major.” They later posted the video on Facebook.

The two Marines catch him in one too many lies about everything from violating uniform code to wearing the wrong ribbons and medals. The man variously called himself a sergeant major, a military policeman, and a special forces operator.

He also claims to have won a Bronze Star with a “V” for valor for saving one of his men from “killing himself” – first on a military base, then changing the supposed locale to Iraq. That’s when things got heated:

“You know that’s called false valor? It is a federal crime for you to be wearing that uniform,” one of the Marines asks the fraudster, to which he only unleashed a series of expletives and moved towards his car (which caught him in yet another lie since he said he was from North Carolina).

One hopes these Marines follow-up on this faker, who unbelievably had the gall to turn up at a funeral for a fallen hero. If you have any information that can help them, please email us at tips@toprightnews.com.
