So, then, what are we supposed to think when the governor of Texas dispatches National Guardsmen to the state border with Mexico in order to deflect the onrush of illegal border-crossers? What are we supposed to do?
Do? A strange concept these days. Do something about the Russians and their depraved allies for shooting down a passenger plane? Do something about the depraved crowd of terrorists who provoked Israel into assaulting the tunnels in which they skulk? Do something about those equally depraved Iraqi terrorists now rounding up and expelling Christians from their midst? Do something about the kidnappers of schoolchildren in Nigeria?
Not a chance. As if there were the slightest chance anyway of rebuking and punishing all the worlds bad actors a constantly growing crowd. Not even the Romans pulled off the trick. On the other hand, outlawry tends to flourish in climates where the outlaws, actual or potential, sense the sheriff to be farthest away, and perhaps to be most conformable to their purposes: Andy Devine in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. In an age of general and deliberate nonjudgmentalism, with punishment an oddity and outrage rarely succeeded by action, outlaws flourish.
On the matter of the influx of illegals into Texas, Gov. Rick Perry saw the federal government as flustered and inanimate: unable to proceed because unable to decide how to proceed. The governor said, all right, heres what well do. Well send in the guard. The efficacy of Perrys decision remains to be tested. Its nevertheless a decision, as distinguished from a decision to think about when to think about alternatives, before taking soundings and testing the water.

Why so long?
At least someone is finally moving. I have found that too many sit and ring their hands, wondering when “someone” will do something. The way I see it, there is a 50% chance it will help! which is better than nothing. I don’t care what the reason is.
But I agree, this has already gone on too long.
Matthew Boyle, Breitbart - July 21, 2014:
“Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee and a key immigration hawk, took to the Senate floor on Monday afternoon to attack the efforts by President Barack Obama to grant amnesty via executive order to millions of illegal aliens.
During his floor speech, Sessions endorsed a bill from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that aims to curb the presidents executive amnesty effortsand called on his colleagues to cosponsor it. Sessions said:
Senator Cruz has a bill that would stop this presidential overreach. Sessions said. Its very simple. It lays out that we wont spend money providing legal documents to people unlawfully in the country as defined by the law of America and as defined by the Congress of the United States. So, I will ask, will you cosponsor Senator Cruzs bill and lets defend our constituents, or will our congressional colleagues remain complicit in the nullification of our laws and basically the nullification of border enforcement?
Sessions fiery floor speech focused almost entirely on how Congress hasnt done muchif anythingto fight back against President Obamas executive overreaches when it comes to immigration law. He opened by citing the letter he hand-delivered to every member of Congress warning about Obamas move to circumvent Congress and use executive power to grant amnesty to millions of Americas illegal aliens. Sessions also cited George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, a liberal Obama supporter, who warned that Congress letting Obama use executive power in the way he has is not good for the country.
Sessions asked his U.S. Senate colleagues:
When did he SEND IN the Guard? As of yesterday, he had merely asked the Commanding General of the Guard to get his ducks in a row for the POSSIBILITY of sending 1,000 of them to the border. I personally do not think it will ever go beyond that. Sorry. JMHO.
Along with 7000 comments, since yesterday.
Bttt
If these people were actually stopped from illegally entering Texas, what would Mexico do with them?
What are they going to do when they get to the border? My guess is that the rules of engagement will consist of helping the border patrol round these people into vans and ship them out to various republican districts in the US.
I don’t see that Perry is going to give his troops any military power.
So in essence this will be nothing but Kabuki Theater.
I sooo hope you are wrong!
NOW if only the Republican governors in New Mexico and Arizona would follow suit. THEN the media and Obama would really have something to explain. Americans will instinctively support these governors.

Obama aides were warned of brewing border crisis".......In Texas and in Central America, officials viewed the situation with greater alarm. In April 2012, the first ladies of Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala voiced their concerns at a conference in Washington on unaccompanied minors. The statistics are worrisome, said Guatemalas Rosa María Leal de Pérez.
A week later, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) wrote a blistering letter to Obama, citing a 90 percent increase over the previous year in the number unaccompanied minors arriving from Central America. If the president failed to take immediate action to return these minors to their countries of origin and prevent and discourage others from coming here, the federal government is perpetuating the problem, Perry wrote. Every day of delay risks more lives. Every child allowed to remain encourages hundreds more to attempt the journey............
2014 A Collection Of Recent Coverage From Governor Rick Perry's Efforts To Secure The Border
Good move because Obama will now be forced to Federalize them in order to back them off. Making himself front-and-center in this story.
Do I give a flyin crap what Mexico does with them? No I don’t and I don’t think you do either. It is and should be they’re problem, not ours. Just don’t send them norte. But I guess that even if they stopped them from coming here we would still somehow end up paying for them.
What do you think the mission of the National Guard will be if Perry sends them to the border?
Shoot the children?
Not bloody likely?
Just to stand there and look mean?
Maybe.
Assist the Border Patrol in their mission to round these people up and send them to holding areas before they are released into the general population?
Most likely.
Unless Perry is sending these troops down there to seal the border and use whatever means are necessary to halt the invasion, then he is just doing this for show.
America has no will to stop this invasion. The only real recourse to this is both military and political. If we had any will at all we would not be rounding these people up and taking them away from the border, we would be tear gassing them and knocking them down with bean bags and rubber bullets and forcing them back across the border into Mexico.
The powers that be are welcoming these invaders with open arms. That’s the bottom line. There will be no end to this invasion because the American people, by and large, don’t give a damn.
Another empty, not even half-hearted action on the part of Rick “Open Borders” Perry where Illegal Immigration is concerned.
Rick Perry needs to Man-Up where this issue is concerned and actually defend the border of Texas, not play PR stunts.
