If you call a dog’s tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?
Four. Calling a dog’s tail a leg doesn’t MAKE it a leg.
Similarly, calling this social arrangement to a committed relation between two members of a homosexual life style “marriage” does not make it a marriage. It is a union of sorts, with certain stated and unstated conditions of contract, but it is not a “marriage”.
There was a perfectly serviceable alternative designation adopted in many jurisdictions, termed a “civil union”, which spelled out, to some degree, the extent of the obligations and restrictions of the contract to tie two people in a binding agreement for purposes of finances, estate, and social responsibilities. But NOOOO, this was not “enough”, it had to be “marriage” or nothing.
A dog’s leg is not a tail, either.
Which means we ought to stand against this perversion of morals and language.
