Mexico Foreign Minister José Antonio Meade Kuribreña on Tuesday challenged Texas Gov. Rick Perrys characterization of the flow of Central American children into the U.S. as an assault on Americans and their security.
Theres a need to respond to the upsurge in minors, but I dont see how the upsurge of minors threatens the security of the U.S. and I certainly dont see how it threatens the security of Texas, Meade said in an appearance at The Chronicles editorial board. Theres a need for a response. That response should have a high level of humanitarian concerns within it.
To pose (the issue) as a security threat is missing the dynamics behind the migration, he said, including violence in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador that has left thousands of children in need of help.
It also ignores the potential for countries affected by the migration to work together to solve it, he said.

Great. Let’s have Mexico put Obama in charge of their Southern border as well. I’m sure all of those Central American “children” will pose no threat to Mexican security either.
If Jose is correct, why don’t they keep them in Mehico? This clown is a jackass.
I’m sure Mexico will be able to care for the children
and they can keep their drugs too.
Hey Jose! If they are “in need of help”, why the hell don’t YOU help them? Why throw them onto the backs of the U.S. taxpayers? Question, why don’t you Hispanics care about other Hispanics? Why do the gringos have to do it? Hmmmmmmm?
And we should give a rat’s @$$ what you say because...
That must explain why Mexico welcomes all of those Central American children who illegally cross over their border every day. Oh, wait.
How many divisions are stationed in the Continental United States (Army, Marine and Army National Guard/Reserve) these days? Take all of them, along with all other Reservists, underutilized federal, state and local employees and ROTC kids and put them on the border.
Lord knows that Mexico has always had the best interests of the United States at heart. /s
“On Mexico, declare war.” Yoda
Makes no difference if they are kids, teenagers, adults or old folks. The US is a sovereign nation and we have laws regarding crossing any of our borders. Anyone crossing our borders without permission and proper paperwork is breaking our laws. PERIOD.
Besides, based on what I read and see, most of the criminal aliens are at least 14 years old. Many are covered in gang tatts. Hardly “children.”
Sorry Mr. Foreign Minister, but I call BS.
I mean Jose, not you personally.
It’s the jihadist, MS13 gangbangers, and other thugs using these kids as cover who are the threat, you moron. /obviously not directed at the OP FReeper
How do you say chutzpah in Spanish?
“The US is a sovereign nation”
Sadly, I am fairly certain that is no longer the case. Sigh.
Unreal. I think I’m living in the “Lie-Light Zone”.
Not all of the surge of illegals are children, by far.
Not all of those that claim to be children are even children.
Many of the illegals are members of violent gangs or other hardened criminals.
With the surge in illegals keeping Border Patrol busy- who knows who else is coming in...terrorists?
Violence is actually down in Central America, so the story of the illegals coming here is bogus, not to mention the violent gang members “they are fleeing” have been here for years and more are coming with them so coming here is not a solution.
Illegal immigration is a threat to both our National Security and the security of Texas. Illegal immigration is also a health threat and a financial burden.
Since the Mexico foreign minister does not see a problem with the illegals from Central America he should be happy take them back to Mexico and care for them.
If we have no enforceable Southern border, lets take over Mexico.
