BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Former House Democrat Pat Schroeder predicts that Hillary Clinton would face "a lot of sexism" if she decides to run for president in 2016.
Schroeder served in the House from 1973 to 1997 as the first woman elected to Congress from Colorado. Now 73, she appears in "Makers: Women in Politics," a film airing this fall on PBS.
She was asked about Clinton on Tuesday at a summer TV critics' meeting.
"She's still going to have a lot of sexism," Schroeder said. "I can't believe there's people saying can she still be a grandmother and be a president. There are people making snide comments about her age. It's a little more subdued sexism, but it's very much there."

Funny how Margaret Thatcher in her day and other women in their day overcame sexism to win, but a person like Hillary supposedly will have a very hard time doing it?????
I’ve seen more sexism and about any other “ISM” hurled by the left against Palin and other Right of center women that I’ve ever seen hurled at any leftist creature.
Perhaps Pat can address that...
I swear the Democrats should rename themselves the Victocrats and have a crying baby as their symbol. These people do nothing but whine whenever they come under scrutiny.
They know Hillary won’t face sexism (from the same voters that elected a mulatto twice); it is a challenge thrown out there so we have to support her to show we’re NOT sexist.

She got a whole lot of public sympathy the first time when Bill was president. NOW she’s just a poor aging old woman being cheated on again.
Media spin: How does she have the strength and courage to carry on, she’s such an amazing and strong woman.

And perhaps Pat can also address the misogynistic vitriol Sarah Palin faced as the GOP’s VP nominee in 2008.
But she won’t.
It has nothing to do with race, gender, or religion.
She’s a socialist and people don’t want socialism.
Back in the early 1990’s, Pat Schroeder was scheduled to visit my ship, presumably because of the large compliment of women on board (or maybe the compliment of large women- but I digress). My Chief Petty Officer ordered me to go to the base McDonald’s that morning and not return until after lunch, when she was gone.
I don’t know what he thought I might do...
That was my first thought.
That’s right. The only two things I remember about Schroeder are that she ended her presidential run blubbering like a baby — living up to every stereotype about women in politics being too emotional. And then she went in front of a Gay and Lesbian conference and said something like, “When it comes to protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination, we aren’t doing enough. I feel like the little Dutch boy sticking his finger in the dike.”
Yea, reminds me of that always constipated look. Leon Panetta is another.
The only thing I’ll remember Patsy for is allowing ex-spouses to steal 1/2 my military retirement.
I prefer the word "mongrel".
