There was a time when Turkey was one of the most reliable allies that the U.S. had. Obama has really screwed this one up. Now we have Kerry over in the mideast trying to pull Hamas’s Chestnuts out of the fire. Just who benefits from an Isreal/Hamas ceasefire?

So "reliable" they refused to allow US planes to fly over Turkish airspace during The Gulf War.

Whatever agreements, cooperation and understanding we had with Turkey (which can take many forms that can be very important) are now toast.

If its bad for America, Obama is for it.

I can recall when Turkey prevented us from going into Iraq from Turkey preventing the movement of the 2nd Infrantry Div during the Iraq War. They even had a vote in Parliament preventing the transiting of our troops thru Turkey along with resupply.

On March 1, 2003, the Turkish parliament rejected a resolution authorizing the deployment of U.S. forces to Turkey to open a northern front in a war against Iraq. The rejection resulted from strains within the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), an inexperienced leadership, competing influences, and the overwhelming opposition of Turkish public opinion.

This was under Bush. The influence of fundamentalist Islam is transforming Turkey from a reliable ally to one that actively opposes many of our initiatives, especially those involving Israel. This predates Obama.
