The National Science Foundation has committed $10 million to build robots that will act as personal trainers for children, in an effort to influence their behavior and eating habits.
The government has spent $2.15 million so far for the five-year project, which is being led by Yale University. The project, Robots Helping Kids, will ultimately deploy robots into homes and schools to teach English as a second language, and encourage kids to exercise.

And they will say it right to your face without cracking a smile.
"we want the robots to be able to guide the child toward a behavior that we desire"
Note to self...spell check....LOL
Are the robots to refute and replace parents? I can already believe their are some easily intimidated parents who believe every word Michelle Obama says and will allow the government to take over their home in this Camera Embedded TROJAN HORSE of a robotic companion. What happened to families playing together and being each other’s best friends. I don’t think this will be very popular yet. In seven to ten years, who really knows?
They will all have Michelle Obama’ voice.
Our government is so far out of control it’s incomprehensible
It gave me chills just reading it...and knowing they are serious as a heart attack....and they could care less how this tech could be used in the future...
A totally independent autonomic surveillance system provided free of charge by your benevolent benefactor called Big Brother.
An impressionable child might easily take the word of a robot over the word of their parents...programing worked like a charm on the Hitler youth without such tech behind it.
( yes I know Godwin Bingo!...please check your cards)
If the feds are making the robots, you just know they’ll style them as a combination of c3po and the federal hero barack obama.
double the dorkiness.
It would be a shame if the robot were to fall down a flight of stairs or wander into the pool, or be mistaken for an intruder in the middle of the night, or get backed over in the driveway by the minivan...;)
In typical Fed fashion, these things will be so riddled with security holes that they’ll be compromised, hacked, and made private from any government surveillance within minutes of the public getting their hands on them. Anyone who wants will be able to use them as they wish, while the machine reports utterly innocuous information back to the gov so no suspicion is aroused.
Rich kids toy.
Building robotic escorts for all the illegal alien kids to cross the border.....
