On April 15 of last year, a thin kid with a bright smile named Abdulrahman Alharbi decided he would stop and watch the Boston Marathon for a few minutes. A Saudi Arabian studying English in Boston, he had heard of the famous marathon, but wanted to see it in the flesh, he later explained to one journalist. Ten minutes later, he witnessed what he first mistook for fireworks.
Alharbi, like numerous others in the chaotic few hours following the deadly bombings, was questioned by police. They asked for his Facebook password. He gave it to them. They asked to inspect his apartment. He allowed it. News of Alharbi reached the media, but by the next day, the cops had cleared the 20-year-old. He has been checked out, a law enforcement official told the Boston Globe. He is not involved. He is just a victim.
Broadcaster Glenn Beck, formerly of Fox News, was nonetheless suspicious of Alharbi. He thought the Obama administration was hiding Alharbis involvement. So three weeks later, Beck urged the government to release its information on Alharbi or else Beck would expose him.

Why is it OK for the liberals do do this daily but the right is supposed to be quiet?
Oh effff Beck. Weepy Whiny illegal hugger.
How did Abdulrahman Alharbi rate a personal visit from FLOTUS, or was that someone else?
‘So three weeks later, Beck urged the government to release its information on Alharbi or else Beck would expose him.’
I remember when I actually used to believe Beck’s hype: how he would ‘expose’ people, how he had confidential information from ‘unnamed sources,’ and all that jazz.
What a fool I was.
All of this is sound legal reasoning from the legal viewpoint of "thrusting oneself into the vortex of a public controversy." The American legal standard on defamation for public figures has always included the "knowingly false and with malicious intent" test, sort of like media darlings did to Sarah Palin.
Alharbi tinkled away his private person status the moment he gave public press interviews.
He had to come to the U.S. to study English? What a crock.
He liked the book: “How to Serve your Fellow Man”
I think that Beck stepped in it this time. He has been rather careful in the past, showing the insight to sidestep other potholes that caught his buddy, Shawn.
I do applaud him for fighting this. He would save money if he would just pay the kid off, but it appears that he is going to the mat. I wish that I saw more backbone when it comes to these sharks.
That's what I thought, too. Was it just coincidence that she visited this guy (if it's the same guy)?
Beck, still sucking I guess.
(I may have mentioned it before)
I remember hearing Beck say he was going to expose the guy, and that he was a really, really bad guy, but nothing ever came of that?
Bad ideas, kid.
This is the biggest example of brazen idiocy short of an accused matricide/parricide pleading for mercy because he's an orphan.
“I remember hearing Beck say he was going to expose the guy, and that he was a really, really bad guy, but nothing ever came of that?
I think that was one of Beck’s, “THE WORLD WILL SPLIT IN HALF WITH WHAT I WILL TELL YOU TOMORROW!!! SIGN UP FOR MY NEWSLETTER AND TV SHOW NOW!!!”, drama queen acts.
That’s when I started souring on Beck. He never did follow up on his so-called ‘revelation’. Pffffft.
Um, Survivalist cookbook?
If I had to study English, I don't think I'd choose Boston.
Alharbi was likely involved but since he is part of the Saudi Royal family they rushed him out of the country. He had an outstanding deportation order on him for another incident of terrorist activity/association. It was highly suspicious at the time but got the big coverup and now nobody remembers. I imagine that in this instance Glenn Beck was right. Even a loony tune gets it right once in awhile. Somebody post the pic of Alharbi and his gold 1911.
That was my thought too.
There really was something strange going on about that kid.
IIRC he was supposed to be in Ohio studying, not in Massachusetts
One more aspect of the backstory may be the issue of who and why some Saudi nationals where allowed out of the country immediately after the 9/11 attack.
Here are a few old articles, dont forget the Saudi ambassador met with Biden right before this guys name dropped off the list of potential suspects. Then the first lady visits him link to pictures below. SMELLs
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, while testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee today, actually conceded that Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Harbi, the Saudi national who moved from suspect to person of interest to witness to victim all in less than 24 hours after the Boston bombings, was indeed placed on a terrorist watchlist. This is in stark contrast to what she told the Rep. Jeff Duncan at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing last week.
Providing further intrigue is that one day before Napolitano conceded Al-Harbis watchlist status, talk show host Glenn Beck explained how difficult it was for someone to both get a 212 3B designation allegedly what Al-Harbi had received and to have it removed; it would an extremely long time for all of that to happen, much longer than 24 hours.
Napolitano seems to either flatly contradict herself or openly admit that it is easy for someone to be put on a terrorist watchlist even though they dont reach person of interest status. Thats either a lie or a chilling statement of what this government is doing
You forgot, "But first, this message from Goldline"... =D
At least something good came out of ZMan V. NBC ... this defense is very similar.
It is amazing what lots and lots of Saudi money can do especially to elected officials and their appointees. We have the best government that money can buy!
Not a fool, you just didn't know. A fool is someone who keeps believing in someone when the actual facts are contradictory, like Obamabots. It doesn't matter what Obama does, his Obamabots don't care. Glen Beck took a lot of people in. I really enjoyed his Fox show, but realized later he wasn't what he advertised himself to be. Now I can't stand him.
The problem with Beck is, he finds a new audience over time who haven't heard his lies, so they tend to believe him. It takes a while to find out the truth.
We are all taken in by people who misrepresent themselves. But Obamabots see him commit crimes against humanity and they don't care.
