Newt Gingrich : Obama’s Attack on Israel

=====================================================

Obama’s Attack on Israel

"The success of Hamas in closing Israeli airspace is a great victory for the resistance, and is the crown of Israel’s failure,” a Hamas spokesman said today.

When Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948, the United States became the first country in the world to recognize the Jewish state, just 11 minutes later. That recognition, however, came after one of the greatest foreign policy disputes in American history—a fight in which Secretary of State George C. Marshall told President Truman that “if the President were to [recognize Israel] and if in the elections I were to vote, I would vote against the President.”

Newt Gingrich Podcast

This was an astonishing rebuke coming from any cabinet officer, and more so coming from Marshall—a popular figure who as Chief of Staff of the Army during World War II had helped win the war—and directed at Truman, one of the least popular presidents in recent history. But Truman was still the president, and he had the wisdom to forge with Israel what has become one of our country’s closest friendships.

Later, when Syria and Egypt invaded Israel in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, President Nixon airlifted heavy arms and supplies to help Israel defend itself.

Contrast those strong actions with President Obama’s response to the current crisis threatening our ally.

The President’s FAA-imposed ban on flights into Ben Gurion International Airport is the most hostile step any American president has taken toward Israel in its entire existence. The restriction deals a major psychological blow to our friends, prevents Israelis across the world from returning home, stops tourists and others from leaving, and creates a major disruption to the country’s economy its tourism industry especially.

Even worse, it hands an extraordinary victory to Hamas, a terrorist organization that also happens to be the government in Gaza.

The decision can only be interpreted as a willful attack by the United States and one of its closest allies at a time of great crisis. It was clearly deliberate. If the restriction had been an accident—an unfortunate mistake by some bumbling bureaucrat at the FAA— the President could simply have reversed it when he found out about it.

Given the circumstances, it is impossible to believe the cessation of flights was not a deliberate act on the part of the Obama administration to undermine Israel and bully it into accepting the “ceasefire” President Obama and Secretary Kerry desperately want.

The Israelis maintain that their airport is safe. Their own airline, El Al, continues to fly. They have demonstrated with impressive accuracy the ability of their Iron Dome missile defense shield to protect Tel Aviv from Hamas rockets. Except for a single rocket discovered about a mile from the airport, there is no evidence to support the FAA’s decision.

That’s the same FAA that allows flights into Baghdad. That allows flights into Kabul. Into Peshawar and Kandahar. It allows flights, for that matter, into Kiev. These are all places where the FAA might apply the same logic as it did in Tel Aviv—there are bad people in the neighborhood who sometimes do bad things.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stood bravely against the administration’s bullying tactics when he released a statement last night announcing:

“This evening I will be flying on El Al to Tel Aviv to show solidarity with the Israeli people and to demonstrate that it is safe to fly in and out of Israel. Ben Gurion is the best protected airport in the world and El Al flights have been regularly flying in and out of it safely. The flight restrictions are a mistake that hands Hamas an undeserved victory and should be lifted immediately I strongly urge the FAA to reverse course and permit US airlines to fly to Israel.”

Mike Bloomberg is exactly right about the effects of the administration’s decision, which is even more damaging in the context of the American government’s latest pronouncements. All week Secretary Kerry and President Obama have been pressuring Israel to accept a ceasefire against an enemy that is actively trying to kill Israelis. They warn Israel that the United States is “deeply concerned” about civilian casualties in Gaza.

Indeed, everyone is worried about civilian casualties. Everyone except Hamas.

Have Obama and Kerry forgotten how the current violence started?

It started with Palestinian terrorists firing hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians.

It continued with the discovery of hidden tunnels—dozens of them—which Hamas has dug into Israel with the intention, apparently, of launching an invasion of terrorists into Israel to kidnap Israelis and drag them back through the tunnels into Gaza.

A few militants who made it through the tunnels were found to be carrying tranquilizers and handcuffs. Today Israel discovered a tunnel filled with a trove of Israeli Defense Force uniforms in which the terrorists were evidently planning to disguise themselves.

This is the stuff of nightmares. And in the middle of Israel’s campaign to stop such atrocities, Obama and Kerry are criticizing Israel for causing civilian casualties? They’re handing a victory, with the flight cancellations, to Hamas, which hides its weapons and its militants in civilian homes to use women and children as human shields. It is an act of enormous cowardice.

President Obama should immediately reverse the FAA’s ban on flights into Ben Gurion International Airport and should apologize to Israel for the mistake. And Congress should hold hearings on the decision process to determine for certain if this was a deliberate political attack by the Obama White House on America’s ally.

Your Friend,

Newt

Don’t blame me for the mess we are in. Newt was, and will always be my pick to be president (and I don’t give a damn about his wives).

I donated money to Newt (and every other GOP candidate--money I didn't have)...but his heart wasn't in it.

That said, if he were to get really fired up...he could lead us to victory. If not, go away Newt. Write columns and teach and let us stop dreaming of your chances.

I like Newt, but he’s damaged goods.

Not only because of his personal life, but because of that global warming ad with him and Nancy Pelosi on a loveseat telling us how important it is to tax us into penury in order to stop the make-believe global warming bogey man.

Just unbelievable that this administration of kommunist, caliphate worshiping, calamatous promoting jerk offs is allowed to operate with absolutely no checks by the House.

Yep ...

Newt Gingrich (architect of the historic Contract for America and capturing the House after forty (40) years of Democratic rule) ...

and Nancy Pelosi (a historic figure as first woman Speaker of the House, albeit an idiot) ...

shared a photo-op, discussing, of all subjects, "Global Warming".

Newt's critics have a field day with this 2008 photograph, totally IGNORANT of Newt Gingrich's later confession that ...

"it was the dumbest thing I've done in recent years."

===============================

Newt's critics then attack his 2008 remarks about Global Warming ...

again, IGNORANT of the circumstances involved

and how Newt Gingrich (along with the rest of America) was DECIEVED by the SCIENTIFIC LIES about Global Warming.

Let's have some straight talk about Newt Gingrich's so-called "endorsement" of Global Warming ...

First, assuming you're old enough Westbrook (i.e. experienced, intelligent) you'll agree that, for the most part, scientists' word (especially in published journals) has for decades been very respected.

Right ?

Remember those days, Westbrook ?

Even into the 1970's (unless you were still in diaper-land) scientists were assumed to be honest.

Enter the Hillary Clinton "hippie quasi-Marxist generation", especially as they were graduating with all those PhD and masters degrees in the 1980s.

For some of these "intellectual scoundrels" all that mattered was ideology.

Period.

These folks were the kind (like the University of East Anglia fraudsters) who even FAKED the DATA ... just to advance their Socialist Agenda.

Now, I'm a college-degree Mechanical Engineer who's always been interested in the sciences.

And even when the "Man Made Global Warming Data" was being FALSIFIED for years and years, and then PUBLISHED "as fact" in the leading scientific journals, how could even a "smart educated guy" like me (/sarcasm-off) known that the data and findings were RUBBISH ?

I had neither the "correct data" or access to the "inner scientific circle" to have even known that the Global Warming Data was poppycock.

Now ... what's you technical background, Westbrook ?

Do you have a college degree ? What subject ?

Let's presume that you do, and that it's in "climatology".

Let's next presume (a wild guess) that you have access to ALL of the correct temperature data (you copied it to a 5.25-inch floppy disk before the bad guys erased it on the VAX mainframe).

Now ... let's further assume (really wild here) that you have COMPLETE and FREE access to all of the NASA supercomputers that the "bad guys" used in their Bravo Sierra climate computer models.

Finally ... let's assume you've discovered the TRUTH about the GLOBAL WARMING LIE.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Now ... go get that news story published.

I'm certain (/sarcasm-off) that CNN, The New York Times, Newsweak, The Economist and Rolling Stone will start a million-dollar bidding war over your new revelation.

Right ?

Unfortunately (as you already know) ... wrong ... wrong ... wrong.

Your GREAT news story about the GLOBAL WARMING LIE gets pigeon-holed.

For ever, or until Rush Limbaugh gets a hold of it.

That was rather a long, sad story, wasn't it ?

What exactly does it have to do with Newt Gingrich and Nancy Pelosi making a joint statement about GLOBAL WARMING ... in 2008 ... 2008 ... 2008?

Newt Gingrich assumed that the respective scientists were HONEST and TRUTHFUL.

And what did Newt Gingrich say in 2011 ... AFTER THE FRAUDULANT SCIENTIFIC DATA was discovered ... that his Global Warming statement with Nancy Pelosi ...

"was the dumbest thing I've done in recent years."

How could Newt Gingrich (being a non-technical person) known the difference ?

How could Westbrook (being a non-technical person) known the difference ?

How could Patton-at-Bastogne (being a TECHNICAL person) known the difference ?

Westbrook, you and Newt and I would ALL been buffaloed by the bravo-sierra data.

So how (being the reasonable man I presume you are) can you make fun of Newt Gingrich for thinking GLOBAL WARMING ...

when YOU would have been BUFFALOED like Newt Gingrich ...

as well as me, too ?

Best Regards,

Patton-at-Bastogne (Free Republic member since 1998)

Meanwhile, take a look at what Rush Limbaugh had to say about the Global Warming Fraud ....

RUSH: You know, there are all kinds of left-wing publications and individuals, folks, who are beside themselves over global warming.

I have an entire Stack of Stuff today on this.

From the Australian newspaper: "Twenty-Year Hiatus in Rising Temperatures Has Climate Scientists Puzzled," and they are all citing a magazine article in The Economist.

"In a lengthy article this week, The Economist magazine said if climate scientists were credit-rating agencies, then climate sensitivity -- the way climate reacts to changes in carbon dioxide levels -- would be on negative watch but not yet downgraded."

Because this story indicates that carbon in the atmosphere may actually be making things cooler, not warmer.

They are beside themselves with rage and anger and frustration in the global warming community, which we know is a hoax now.

That continues to be something that's utterly laughable to me.

We know by virtue of released e-mails from the University of East Anglia in the UK that the whole thing -- the manmade global warming program -- is a hoax.

It's a political hoax.

I realize there are some people who haven't heard this. We have new listeners tuning in each and every day, and I realize that many of you new arrivals here think that global warming is the law of the land.

You've never questioned it, and you think it's happening. Global warming is as real as the sun coming up.

Considering the alternative is impossible, and you believe that people who don't believe in it are literal kooks.

I want to tell you new arrivals about this -- and I know you low-information people are here in increasing numbers each and every day.

Newt is a National Treasure that slipped through our hands. I know, I know he sat on a couch with Nancy and yes, he has made some bad choices with women which was far more important than his historical and political brilliance. The Brit Hume, Ann Coulter, Fox and Friends, and Michelle Malkin crowd destroyed him, just to prop up Reverend Santorum.

LOL...You make it sound as if people have only become aware that global warming is a hoax. In 2004 Michael Crichton published, "State of Fear," which although a fictional story, is actually structured around extensive citations and footnotes of the ample data from studies that even then showed global warming was at best a questionable theory. The novel reached #1 on Amazon and #2 on NYT in 2005. It was hardly obscure scholarship. Sen. Inhofe also called Crichton to testify in front of his environmental committee in 2005, but I guess Newt was too busy fluffing the pillows on his sofa to pay attention to what was going on inside the Capitol building.

I’m a EE that morphed into a Software Engineer.

Global Warming was instantly discredited in my view when I saw who was promoting it, the junk “science” behind it, and the push to tax me for it.

Were you ever fooled by it? I was always skeptical, but just a little bit research convinced me it was a ruse.

Anybody who fell for such an obvious ruse is unfit in my estimation to lead the most powerful nation on earth, because either he is too easily fooled, or because he is a trying to impoverish and enslave me.

I’ll give Newt the benefit of the doubt, in spite of his CFR membership, that he was fooled. Pelosi, on the other hand, is trying to impoverish and enslave me. That should have been Big Clue #1 for Newt, because he should know at least that much and not associate himself with such avowed enemies of Liberty.

Westbrook,

You're clearly right that Nancy Pelosi and the "bastard" Obama don't care a wiff about either Global Warming and/or Global Cooling or the Easter Bunny ...

these socialists clowns would use any rationale for making all of us Serfs on the Medevial Collective Plantations.

As to me being fooled by the scientific claims about Global Warming, I just figured that if NASA said it, it was "gold".

Those child-like days are long gone now ...

You mean NOAA, right?

Heh. I did a lot of work on NASA related projects back in the 70s and 80s. They lost their compass after the shuttle disasters in 86 and 03. Now they specialize in Moslem “outreach”. (roll-eyes)

> Those child-like days are long gone now ...

I hear ya. Can’t trust word-one from the gummint/academic complex. Everything is political with them now. No pure research that I can see in there. The only real research taking place now is in the private sector. (!surprised)

Actually, oversimplified and not quite accurate description of what happened. Newt is often "lost in translarion" and quite often "cuts his losses" — does not bother to waste time explaining to those who don't understand or are "invested in not understanding" what he says or does — which in politics could be

What really happened is much more prosaic, but does explain "the dumbest thing I've done in recent years" statement, which refers not to his attempt to wrest the "green" / "environmental" issues from near-exclusive province of Democratic Party, but to the political aftermath of the ad photo repeatedly posted as the "proof" that he is the AGW Global Warming advocate and believer. In politics, taking chances to do something productive rather than just talking party line is seldom rewarded.
