Flight MH17 demonstrates Putinís way of†business

The horrors of Flight 17 have taught the world that Vladimir Putin is happy to give his minions the means to shoot innocent life out of the sky — as long as they are serving his larger interests.

What the world hasn’t really wrapped its head around yet is that the carnage scattering the fields of eastern Ukraine isn’t some aberration. It’s Putin’s regular way of doing business. ....

It’s not just democratic Ukraine vs. authoritarian Russia; it’s a clash of values.

The Western side honors the value of individual human life and protects the liberty that nourishes that life. The Russian side cares about people only insofar as collateral in the pursuit of power and wealth.

That conflict showed itself from the earliest days of the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev, when riot police, acting at the behest of the Putin-backed President Viktor Yanukovych, bludgeoned protesters, some in their early teens.

It was even more apparent later, when those same berkut fired into the peaceful crowd, killing around 100.

Ukrainian artist and former Soviet dissident Boris Eghiazaryan described one scene that embodied the ideological clash: Facing off against the berkut, he recalls, the Maidaners wore helmets painstakingly painted by their fellow protesters, each unique and special.

Opposite them stood the riot police, all in identical uniform, well-armed mirror images of each other, perfectly interchangeable, a true embodiment of Putin’s “cult of death,” Erghiazaryan said:

Where the Russians sought to destroy, the Maidaners were compelled by a Godly desire to create, and expressed that not only through protest but art.

The Maidaners won.

When Putin annexes a wide corridor to the complete North Shore of the Black Sea, Putin will begin to build the most powerful Navy in the World.

Yes, the ethnic Russian separatist must be specially bad to have accidentally shot down a commercial passenger plane that directly overflew a warzone.

Except the USA also accidentally shot down a commercial passenger plane in 1988, and the Ukrainian army also accidentally shot down a commercial passenger plane in 2001.

And the warzone is a tiny part of Ukraine.
It would have been common sense and easy to avoid.
They are now, but it’s it scandal they weren’t before.
Even the Malaysian flight crew protested the route beforehand, some switched shifts out of worry, and most airlines avoided it by policy.

Because the separatists are unusually bad people?

No, because it is idiocy to directly overfly a warzone where military planes have recently been shot down.

When Sweden and Finland both join NATO, the most powerful military force in history, the Baltic Sea will be an American lake.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is an international war crime. All of the murderous acts made in support of Putin’s war of aggression are crimes against peace by the genocidal Putin regime.

It is interesting that the plane was shot down the day after Obama introduced new “togh” sanctions on Putin and the Russians - just sayin’.....

Seems like there are new sanctions against Russia every other week these days.

And none of them seem to have any effect - but to make Putin more defiant.....

Good thing we have an honest, straight-talking, beneficent, kind, wise and gracious ruler over here in the West. Oh, wait... If you think Mr. Obama hasn’t given arms and supplies to people and groups that will use them to kill, terrorize, maim and conquer others, you haven’t been paying any attention. I could name a handful of examples without breaking a sweat.

That is why Putin is concentrating on making the Black Sea a Russian Lake.

Back in the day our own John Paul Jones, (yup, THE John Paul Jones0, fought offshore Odessa, Russia at the request of the Empress of Russia.

Today, Speaker “Blank Check” Boehner is continuing that fight by refusing to Impeach Obama, or even cut Obama’s binge spending.

As the old Saw goes, “The more things change, the more things stay the same.”

The Black Sea is worthless without also controlling the Bosporus and Dardanelles. Putin does covet the Ukrainian Black Sea coast, but not for naval purposes, he wants the land that Ukraine's Trans-Balkan pipeline goes through. Putin hardly needs Odessa when he already has Sebastopol. He can hardly take Mykolayiv and Odessa, if he can't even take Dnepropetrovsk.

Perhaps, but consider this:

* The Black Sea is Russia’s ONLY warm water base for her Navy;
* Russia never knows when Syria, Egypt or even Libya may need Naval “Protection;”
* Since China was given the Panama Canal by Jimmah Carter, China has become a top flight economy;
* With just his “pen and his phone,” Obama could, with deft flexibility, give Russia the Suez Canal, to help Russia catch up to China.
