UCR: Researchers find key component of autistic behavior

A UC Riverside-led team of researchers says it has found conclusive evidence that a naturally produced enzyme in the body is responsible for autism and other neurological disorders in people with Fragile X syndrome.

Fragile X is a mutation of the X chromosome associated with obsessive-compulsive and repetitive behaviors as well as learning deficits. People affected by Fragile X have been shown to have structural differences in brain cells, such as underdeveloped neural receptors.

The study is the cover story for the latest edition of the Journal of Neuroscience.

Often, such discoveries are the first step in a long process. Just understanding a mechanism for a particular disease or disorder doesn’t necessarily mean a treatment is imminent. Effective therapies or drugs can be many years away.

In recent years, however, it was discovered that minocycline, an existing ...

One in 5,000 males is born with the disorder; females can be affected, but to a lesser degree. About 40 percent of cases of autism are associated with Fragile X syndrome.

Given that the current rate of autism diagnosis is 1 in 68, these numbers don't add up. Even if all of the "autism spectrum disorders" are discounted, the numbers still don't add up. If 40% of autistic children have fragile X, and 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with autism, then the rate of diagnosis of autistic children with fragile X would be 1 in 170. Someone should have proofread the article more carefully prior to publication.

Unfortunately, the original journal article is behind a paywall, so I cannot access it. I doubt we have this journal subscribed at work, either. I would love to read what it actually says.

I think a lot of this “fragile X” syndrome can be cured by the “sturdy paddle” syndrome.

They can scream “Fragile X, Y or Z” all they want, I still believe that multiple immunization shots are the cause.

My now 18 year old grandson is autistic. I have videos of this same, very normal 2-3 year old PRIOR to getting immunization shots. He was NEVER the same after getting those shots.

I’m not buying their bull shit!

The autism kids have 67% more brain cells. It is a failure to “prune” that occurs in ALL vertebrates. There is a latitude incidence relationship: many more in Finland and almost none at the equator.

"I think a lot of this “fragile X” syndrome can be cured by the “sturdy paddle” syndrome."

That's what I had thought before my daughter was diagnosed with ASD - I wish I'd had known.
Corporal punishment is the very worst approach I could have taken - but I was ignorant at the time....

I think the wires will pick this story up pretty quick - we’ll get more specifics then.

The best cure I have found to date is lots and lots and lots of prayer. God had shown up in a big way.

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Amen to that.
Going on 13, my daughter is light-years away from where she was when she was first diagnosed at six/seven.
Prayer, homeschooling, prayer, therapy, prayer, patience, prayer....

I am grateful that God has done it this way. Every single day, I get to see a new miracle in my son's life. I will never forget the day my son called out to my wife, yelling "MOM" from the other room. We both broke down in tears. He had never done that before. I still remember when he didn't talk at all.

God is awesome, and I will not allow the enemy to steal away the destiny that God spoke into my son's life. His very name, Josiah, means 'God heals', and 'Fire of God'. So every time I call him, I am declaring the fire and healing of God.

“My now 18 year old grandson is autistic. I have videos of this same, very normal 2-3 year old PRIOR to getting immunization shots. He was NEVER the same after getting those shots.”

Many people have before and after videos of their children which show a similar pattern. The 6-month MMR is the worst. Among its listed side effects is “reduced consciousness”. But of course the vaccine claims this only occurs in extremely rare cases. I.e., cases where plaintiffs have been able to convince a court of a vaccine and drug manufacturer’s culpability in damage to their children. There’s no other way adverse effects get added to a vaccine’s side effects after FDA approval.
