Pope Francis Reportedly Visiting US in September 2015
Townhall.com ^ | July 25, 2014 | Christine Rousselle

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput announced today at a conference in Fargo, North Dakota that Pope Francis has accepted his invitation to come to Philadelphia in September 2015 to attend the World Meeting of Families. Chaput's announcement confirmed rumors that the Supreme Pontiff was coming to the United States. The World Meeting of Families is an event held every three years by the Pontifical Council of the Family.

Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi, S.J. confirmed that the Bishop of Rome was indeed coming to Philadelphia for the event, and was also mulling offers to visit other major cities on the East Coast during his trip.

Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, said Friday that Pope Francis has expressed "his willingness to participate in the World Meeting of Families" in Philadelphia, and has received invitations to visit other cities as well, which he is considering. Those invitations include New York, the United Nations and Washington.

The World Meeting of Families drew over a million people in 2012 in Milan, Italy for a Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI. It is likely the crowd in Philadelphia will be even larger, considering Pope Francis' popularity in the United States.

Personally, I'm pretty excited for Pope Francis' first trip to the United States since his election. I'm very curious about what he will have to say at the event, especially considering that this year's theme is the family's intrinsic value for society. In a time of rapidly falling birthrates and marriage rates, I wonder what Pope Francis will suggest as a possible solution.

Probably going to make sure the evil, racist Americans aren’t abusing the “refugees” from Central America. Expect the commie lib ‘RATS to fall all over themselves trying to kiss his ring for the TV cameras. What a joke.

Pope Fluffy is coming, to denigrate America, her capitalism that raised the lowly out of poverty and into generous charity funders, the common sense of her mainstream citizens to not allow invaders in, and the obsession of many of her best citizens to hold lonely sidewalk vigils outside of abortion clinics.

We've been warned.

Sounds like an opportunity for a FReep!

He is coming to a conference supporting the family. Just in case you didn't know the family as it is understood in the Catholic Church has a mother and a father.

Why would you want to FReep someone who supports the traditional family?

Obama was FReep-meat before he came out against natural families.

Why shouldn't Fluffy be as well? Without borders and capitalism, men can't find jobs. Without jobs and with abortion, men can't form families.

Fluffy has put people in positions of high authority that have unequivocally denigrated people doing abortion vigils.

And I can tell you, first hand, from asking priests and bishops directly to speak out against abortion to their flock, after showing them the proof of what is going on, they outright refuse to speak out against it. In fact, they make a point of inviting pro-death politicians to their parishes to give talks.

Pope Fluffy doesn't do a damn single thing against this.

Archbishop Charles Chaput has been a force fighting against abortion for years, why do you think the Holy Father accepted his invitation in the first place?

Also, how can you say that Fluffy supports the traditional family...
...when he doesn't say a single thing about the fact that these "families" in CATHOLIC Central America are sending their children up to the US, ALONE, where they can be taken advantage of by "coyote" smugglers?!?!

"Honor Thy Mother and Father". Sound familiar? To lovers of God, it certainly is. To lovers of the world, not so much.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he’s coming just before the November election. Pelosi and her ‘RATS will be sniffing around behind him like little puppies.

First question raised will be if he will allow female priests and second question will be his opinion on same sex marriage.

It will be a riot.

I am a lifelong Catholic. And certainly I have had my issues with certain things done and said by the hierarchy over the years.

But virtually NO Catholic clergy support abortion. Just some nuns on the lunatic edge of feminism who frankly ought to be excommunicated anyway.

Chaput, along with Gomez, formed the "Catholic Association of Latino Leaders (CALL)", a group which has an outright mission of infusing the US with "Latino Values".

He now appears to be waking up a bit, but if you read the article, he still gets it wrong. Chaput doesn't realize that Latino culture will vote for big government. He slanders US culture along the way, too, blaming IT for Latino culture trends.

Chaput can go kiss my patoot.

Pelosi will keep clear of the Holy Father, during her last visit, he refused her the chance of a photo op, and she did not receive communion from him.

I used to be Catholic. And my work trying to stop abortion, and trying to get the support of the Catholic Church in my area to talk out about it, showed just the opposite.

Sadly. Horribly. Blatantly. The support and building up of the "Catholic Organization" always comes before standing up for life.

That's why I will no longer be called "Catholic".

Yoss, I really don't want to argue with ya my FRiend, but the left uses our beliefs to divide us.

They are all in support of the CC when it suits them, on issues like death penalty, helping the poor...but when it comes to life issues they hate us.

Don't let them divide us, my FRiend.

You call for "unity" when you back and praise Fluffy, this twit who divides us from God.

I guess that's all you can do when you can't reply to any single of the salient points I laid out.

Thanks for the ping. Apparently, Pope Francis has been invited to multiple cities including Tijuana. Even NYC’s socialist mayor DeBlasio has extended an invitation. So far, all of this is speculation. He has not confirmed where he will visit but the best guess is Philadelphia to attend the Conference on the Family. Let’s hope that, regardless of where he goes, O does not turn this into a photo op. Oh, wait, Obama does not do photo ops.

Darn. I was hoping it was to preside over the trial of congressional Democrats for heresy.

If you really were Catholic, I would contend you were not, then you should have talked to your Bishop. If your parish sucks, that is a problem but don’t project your issues on to the entire Church.

And welcome to why I'm glad I'm not Catholic. All I was doing was working vigorously at living out he Catechism of the Church, and getting flack along the way.

Archbishop Chaput supports giving Communion to pro-abortion politicians. Doing so is a mortal sin.

I couldn’t be less interested in anything Chaput or the Pope might have to say.
