Gutierrez: I think Obama’s executive amnesty could include three, four, maybe five million people

Overpromising? Not really. Obama himself allegedly threw around numbers in the millions when he spoke to immigration activists about this a few weeks ago.

Politico has a fine reminder today that everything he says, including what he says about his own presidential powers, can be trusted only up until the moment when the politics of the situation change and not a second longer.

President Barack Obama insisted for years that he had absolutely no legal authority — none whatsoever, zero, zilch — to slow deportations on a broad scale…

Obama’s pledge to use his executive powers by the end of the summer marked both a dramatic reversal in rhetoric and a major strategic shift on immigration. The president is no longer emphasizing his own powerlessness but rather his determination “to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress.”…

Even immigrant rights advocates, who were on the receiving end of the White House denials for years, were surprised by his abrupt and enthusiastic move toward executive action in June after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) ruled out a legislative overhaul of immigration this year. Activists had gotten so fed up in recent months that some tagged the president as the “deporter-in-chief” and demanded that he shift immediately from a legislative strategy to an administrative one.

“The way they talked about it was, ‘There’s nothing we can do, only Congress can solve it, we don’t have the authority,’” said Lorella Praeli, director of advocacy and policy for United We Dream. “That is very different from what they are saying today. It is completely different.”

So it is. Either he was lying all along, falsely claiming he believed his powers were modest in the name of enticing Republicans into an amnesty deal that would give the White House bipartisan cover, or he’s lying now but is determined to push ahead because he’s decided that the politics of a mass executive amnesty are a net positive for Democrats long-term. Watch the second clip below, from last November, when a heckler demanded that he use his executive authority to legalize the untold millions of adult illegals inside the U.S. I can’t, said O. We’re a nation of laws. We are?

The deeper mystery is why he thinks this is a political winner now for Democrats. The long-term game is obvious — pander to Latinos as much as possible — but the short-term angle is confounding, especially with anxiety about the border crisis high. Case in point:

According to the poll, 51% now say the government’s focus, when it comes to immigration policy, should be formulating a plan to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants. Forty-five percent say the top priority should be developing a plan that would allow undocumented immigrants who have jobs to become legal residents.

That’s a change from February, when Americans said 54%-41% that legal status trumped border security.

With public sentiment moving towards security and away from legalization, he’s going to drop an amnesty atomic bomb for millions of illegals right before the midterms? C’mon. Gutierrez gets asked about that in the first clip and doesn’t even contest that the politics are dodgy. His answer is that we can’t put politics above doing what’s right for migrants, which is precisely what you’d expect a guy whose only loyalty is to “the immigrant community” to say. But what about O? At a minimum, if he’s really thinking about bringing America’s refugee apparatus to Central America to make immigration faster and safer for child migrants, you’d think he’d want to hold off on any political sudden moves for illegals who are already here. Mickey Kaus argues, in fact, that Obama’s painted himself into a corner: If he goes big on executive amnesty now, he might doom red-state Democrats in November. If, despite his promises, he goes small, Gutierrez will be back on MSNBC the next day blubbering about Obama’s final betrayal or whatever. Kaus thinks O will have no choice but to take the medium approach, something short of the five million Gutierrez wants but with a promise to finish the job and amnestize the rest of the group next year when the politics aren’t quite so hot. Unless the White House has data suggesting that a big amnesty now will send turnout by Latino voters this fall skyrocketing, I don’t see how he can follow any other approach.

Polling doesn’t matter.

Obama is going to do what he promised, and that is to transform America. Unfortunately, it is being transformed into something unrecognizable to me.

:-(

RE:”Gutierrez: I think Obama’s executive amnesty could include three, four, maybe five million people”

Saw him on MSNBC today, he said that its the US deportations that are driving these illegals here in large numbers.

He says Obama's coming amnesty order will stop them from coming here.

Not kidding. He really said that.

I also see that Dems are using the word 'impeachment' to turn out Dem voters in November, and fundraising, to try to keep the Senate in Dems hands.

IF we had a real leader in opposition, they would promise to deport every single illegal who signs up for Obama’s temporary legalization.

These are job and benefits stealing citizens of other countries. Throw them the hell out.

RE:”IF we had a real leader in opposition, they would promise to deport every single illegal who signs up for Obama’s temporary legalization.”

You mean potential 2016 candidates?

A couple of weeks back I was posting that the House GOP should send Obama that illegal/refugee funding bill with a clause attached that he is not allowed to grant temporary amnesty, and a few naysayers here dissed the idea in responses.

Then last week I heard Ted Cruz suggest the exact same thing, so now its OK.

Here's my comment:

I'm sick of this President and all the politicians who surround him. I consider every penny I pay in taxes to be nothing more than pure extortion. I have more respect for the Italian mafia than I do for the United States government and I'm sorry that the generations after mine will be shackled by the failures brought about through corruption, greed, incompetence and laziness. May God see fit to help America.

Guttirez cheered on La Raza CEO Janet Murguia at the recent La Raza conference where they were both featured speakers.

La Raza President and CEO Janet Murguia, at La Raza's annual conference in LA, said it sickened her to hear Americans chanting. She accused Murietta, Ca protesters of having "cloaked their hatred in patriotism" by shouting "'USA! USA!' again and again." "It made me angry," she said. "In fact, I was outraged."

Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.

She repeatedly excoriated protesters. "What we saw in Murrieta is not patriotism. It is ugly, divisive, and yet another low in a debate I thought could not get much lower." Murguia did not say comment on "Viva La Raza!" chants from pro-amnesty advocates. Murguia said it was "reprehensible" for Republicans to be "concerned" about disease and crime the "little kids" may be bringing across the border.

==========================================

Mmmmm......these people are getting very mouthy...now that they're living in a place w/ running water and flush toilets.

One Murietta agitator carried a sign proclaiming, "You are on stolen land".....reinforcing that we are being invaded preparatory to the armed takeover of the SW.

The stupid La Razans fail to realize---America is not some Third World hellhole where people crap in a hole in the ground.

This is a thriving Republic where people have the right to free speech, freedoms given is b/c we have a two-party system.

La Raza's drumming up hatred for Republicans is tantamount to advocating the overthrow of the US govt.....and she's doing it on the taxpayers' dime.

No question blood-thirsty La Raza is using our tax dollars to aid and abet the criminal contagion-invasion and the SW takeover.

INCONVENIENT FACTOIDS:

<><> La Raza----a violent organization planning to overthrow the US govt----would pocket $100 million tax dollars per year ad infinitum from the Senate amnesty bill.

<><> La Raza also received suck-up Democrat earmarks from US tax coffers.

<><> La Raza received US tax monies to engage in (cough) "mortgage counseling" facilitated by La Raza's comrade in arms---the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

==============================================

Boobamba sucks up to blood-thirsty La Razans. Americans have the most racist and divisive President in US history. No other president has appointed individuals apparently colluding with foreign countries try to undermine the safety and security of US citizens.

Obummer appointed Celia Munoz to the "Domestic Policy Council".....Munoz was a onetime lobbyist for the blood-thirsty La Raza. "La Raza" proclaims itself a racist and anti-American organization. It's core goal is to overwhelm the American Southwest with illegals ---pressure groups who will vote in their mouthpiece----and cause the region to break away from the US and become Mexican territory.

Obama meets El Salvador's President Salvador Sanchez Ceren,
Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina and Honduran President
Juan Orlando Hernandez to discuss border crisis.

The invaders have four govts advancing the interests of the invaders.

US citizens have no one protecting their interests from the invasion.

Obama: What kind of life is he going to lead once he leaves office?

Once he becomes a private citizen again, he will be booed all over the country --- outside of the LATIN community---the rest of his life because of this illegal immigration mess.

He won't have the power of the presidency to hide behind anymore.

And what about his two children? When they grow up, there is a strong possibility that they too will be booed the rest of their lives, and, to add insult to injury, will find themselves having to defend their lying father and his immigration policies the rest of their lives. Sad.

You are right. The American electorate did elect this POS. Twice. It goes to show how incredibly shallow the American electorate is.

I do, though, take a wee bit of pride in knowing I did not contribute to the POS’s election. Or any of his elections.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that will salve my pain as I witness the collapse and destruction of my beloved America that is brought about by this reprobate and his lemming minions.

If Obama issues amnesty by presidential order to 5 million illegal aliens then the Republicans could run Bullwinkle the Moose in 2016 and still take 40 states.

Don't you get what this pro-amnesty traitor is really saying?

He is REALLY saying this: "Once we get 6 million illegals legalized through Obama the traitor's executive order, we can then use those 6 million now legal immigrants to help us later to legalize the rest of the 20 million illegals already here.

"But first things first. We get a piece of the pie little by little until we have all the pie. We must be patient and do this slowly and carefully. "

Yes. You have got to give the man credit for being so clever.

Obama says this: "Executive order here I come."

These ‘immigrants’ are part of Obama’s two-pronged plan to take the US down...aiding terrorists in the ME + overwhelming our nation with foreigners. Obama is looking more successful by the day.

If the democrats lose the mid terms the republicans can gut all of Obama’s rulings so vote and vote often.
